Game of the Year so far

Max Payne 3 for me, but I'm shocked how good this year's been, I thought last year was quite disappointing and this year wouldn't be very good but so far I've really enjoyed Darkness 2, Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2, Borderlands 2 and Sleeping Dogs. bobbetybob

yes max payne 3 is right up their with the best.

Guild Wars 2 is easily GOTY from that list but Halo 4, Dishonored & Assassins Creed 3 might give it some competition if they live up to expectations

The best I've played this year is actually Black Mesa.

As for "real" games though I would probably go with Guild Wars 2. Have yet to play Mass Effect 3 and Max Payne 3

GW2, wish I could vote for Portal 2 again, co-op maps are so much fun.

Poll is rigged. Everybody knows that Borderlands 2 and D3 are head and shoulders above ME3 and GW2. It's like, not even a competition. D3 revolutionized the dungeon crawler subgenre, and Borderlands 2 is simply put the greatest FPS/RPG hybrid ever made.

It's not hard to believe if you think about it. KoA has the size and depth of an Elder Scrolls game, an infinitely better combat system (yeah, not saying much but still), and, according to IGN, it's not riddled with bugs and glitches like the former mentioned franchise. Now I don't have anything against Skyrim personaly, but I am growing more and more displeased as it continues to become more and more unplayable. KoA is delivering what I wanted in Skyrim, with the added bonus of a badass combat system and best of all, it's looking to be a FINISHED product. Take notes Bethesda, you hacks.

I'm gonna get one thing out of the way - I am not a fan of KoA: Reckoning. It's a good game but the story and sidequests are a tad bland for my taste and it makes the game drag. I couldn't see myself giving it higher than 7.5. That said, it's still a betterRPGthan ME3 and an overall bettergameperiod.

Lol, I'm surprised you actually took the time to dig those old posts up. My opinion of KoA started to rapidly change around the 20-30 hour mark. It seemed great at first, but after long you gotta start to realise how dull and repetitive it is. Play it even longer and the things you originally thought it did good, like the combat, aint all that great either.

Also, my opinion of Skyrim changed after Bethesda patched the PS3 version. It's a truly great game when it works.

None of those really appeal to me other than maybe Halo 4, though I won't be getting that until it's cheaper.

Assassin's Creed III and Lego Lord of the Rings are the remaining two games this year that I intend on getting.

Btw I took your advice and bought Killing Floor back during the Summer steam sale. Still haven't got around to playing it because my backlog is huge. Like, really, really huge. It's killing me trying to decide which games to play next. Plus there's still those really f*cking awesome games like Batman: Arkham City that I want to playthrough again.

I actually just played through Arkham City for the first time recently. It is quite awesome, but my Borderlands 2 and TOrchlight 2 prevent me from going through it again. Definitely want to do a playthorugh on NG+ though

So far I'd say Borderlands 2 but that'll change once I play Halo 4 and AC3.

Journey.

Ratchet and Clank collection is the only disk based game I have bought this year outside of getting a Vita and games for that. This is without a doubt the weakest gaming year I have seen this gen. Even 2007 PS3 was better at this point with Motorstorm, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, and I actually loved COD3 War mode.

Xenoblade Chronices. Probly would be in my top ten games ever really.

DayZ, a little tired of it right now, waiting for the standalone to come out. Provided some of the most amazing experiences I've ever had in a video game, revolutionary. Spent hundreds of hours playing it. Plenty of good games this year I've enjoyed, can't say any of them are close to taking the top spot from DayZ though.

Borderlands 2 :) It was ME3 until I played the amazing game that is Borderlands 2.
