When it comes to bang for the buck, it's hard to beat the Orange Box. 5 games (or 3 games with 2 expansions if you prefer) for the price of one.
Then there's Mass Effect, where each play through can last you well over 55 hours if you play most of the side quests. But then the fact that you can incorporate an ability of one character cIass into the cIass of another, creating a hybrid of sorts, which can also be carried over to the sequel, provides the best incentive for replay on a sp game.
And Halo 3 with it's 4 player co-op, varied multiplayer modes that also get constant support from Bungie with special Double EXP weekend formats.
I agree, bang for your buck you can't beat strategy games. My favorite genre... Some of my favorites: Warcraft3, Starcraft, Dawn of War and it's expansions, Alpha Centauri. I also am going to add to my list Little Big Planet. Little Big Planet when I have nothing else to play I can always go back to and find something cool to play. Especially fun with friends.

Based on how many gameplay hours I got out of them:
Just endless possibilities. You can never really see and do everything, thanks in part to mods.
Same as Morrowind, only less so. Still an awesome game.
There was so much to do in this game, even outside of the main quest. One of my favorite JRPGs.
I just used the first good screenshot I found on Google. Honest.
Same with this game: tons of side-quest content. I've played through it like 7 times and I still haven't quite seen it all.
I don't think I need to describe how addictive and time-consuming these were.
This might just be my most-played game. Best local multi ever.
Bit deeper fighting game; almost as much fun. The version with Link is the definitive one, naturally.
I had, and still have, zero interest in real-life snowboarding. However, this was pure gold.
...Yeah, Eddie sucks.
And finally, the first and (so far) only game to draw me into its online. I still suck at it, but that makes the occasional victory all the sweeter.
EDIT: Forgot one...
Kiddy? Yes. Twee? A bit. Addicting?
What do you think?
[QUOTE="Blue-Sky"]Hey man the TC likes what it wants. some games intrigue people like thatLegend of Dragoon had like no reply value, no sidequests, shallow exploration, dull characters and just a all around mediocre RPG. I hate to knock your choices TC, but seriously, there wasn't anything to take that game's spot?
(lol I said "game's spot")

Hey Barack, please put down "IMO", seriously what have you done since being elected anyway? All those promises and nothing..just nothing...lol... then you put down one of the greatest ps1 classic rpgs....come on now..... Legend of Dragoon was epic and a fantastic game ..imo..Legend of Dragoon had like no reply value, no sidequests, shallow exploration, dull characters and just a all around mediocre RPG. Is that morrowind without the pixel shaded water? Never played it that way, as I had a geforce 3 when it came out...was one of the first pc games to use pixel shaders, if only for the water... the other was Neverwinter Nights 1. Great game, but it looks like crap with out all the mods and texture packs added on.Some good times with

Final Fantasy 7

Value?
Well, lets not take mods into the equation, and just highlight a single game of great value....
Of recent. As in a week or so.
Men of War.
Massive challenging singleplayer campaign, deep tactical, exiting (and fun) gameplay, great range of multiplayer modes, 4 player coop through every campaign mission, and an awesome - very awesome - editor.
Put this in perspective.
I played a single mission coop, online with a friend tonight.
We spent 113 minutes on a single mission
(mind you we stuffed up the first portion of it, shortening what is a separate lengthy section - though making the core of the mission more difficult).
(the map in the screen shot is only a small portion of the battlefield - the timer counter in the top right is a good indication of how much time it took to get this far).(at this moment I was direct controlling this half track full of soldiers)
(this is towards the end of the mission - as the timer indicates. In the map you can see how the battlefield has shifted forwards towards an enemy base - the frontline moves as you progress, resulting absolutely epic battles and great challenges).
(these two soldiers were the last two units I had remaining (no reinforcements) - hence why I am direct controlling the sniper, to help friendly units more effictivley - be a bit more useful considering my losses. :P By the end of the mission only unit I had left was the sniper)
To get a good idea of the amount of units in the battle and the grand scale of it.
The final score:
113 minutes of awesome moments and fun - where the game puts you in almost a sandbox environment, and gives you awesome unscripted moments in the scenario
Personally, its my favourite RTS/Strategy title of the year - more-so than DoW2 and Empire Total War.... and one of my favourite titles this year.
Worth every cent.
Great value it is.
Most games pale in comparison....

I've been thinking of getting this. Is it on Steam? :o
