I'd say X-Rebirth and possibly Resident Evil 5 for me. Additionally, probably Alone in the Dark: Illumination.
I'd have said Perfect Dark Zero but technically it wasn't that bad of a game.
What are your thoughts, System Warriors?

@Salt_The_Fries: Resident Evil 4 killed resident evil. While it was a fun game and looked great at the time it wasn't resident evil and changed everything.
Yeah, actually I can agree with this, and the best testament to how it killed the franchise is that they've pretty much run out of ideas for this formula by the time RE4 ended. That formula was simply fulfilled throughout the course of the game, but at the same time it simply showed that there's nothing meaningful to be added to it.
Yeah I wouldn't say any game has irreparably killed a franchise, they can always make another game which makes it grand again, or simply reboot and start fresh. Though for the sake of the discussion:
These off the top of my head.
Might have said Skyward Sword, but ALBW proved me wrong.
Edit:
Might have said Skyward Sword, but ALBW proved me wrong.
Skyrim kinda proves you wrong with ES4 no? Also GW2 is a great game, and it's very popular. You can't argue that either of these two games killed their franchises, seeing as both franchises are very obviously alive and well.
Now if you disliked them that's a different question entirely.
Medal of Honor [2010] and that right there, killed it for me and Medal of Honor was the only franchise FPS games I used to buy whenever a new one get's announce.

Skyrim only became good after mods like Requiem. Up until then, videos like the one linked below describes how elitists like me view it.

Guild Wars 2 was being trashed all over the place when it came out. The game was looked unfavorably here even compared to the likes of Diablo 3.
Fear 2 shit. Dragon Age 2 shit. Rainbow 6 Vegas shit. Ghost Recon 2 shit. Rage console shit. Witched 3 shit. Tomb Raider shit e.c.t...
The games listed above are former shadows of once great game franchises. Funnily enough, all these games sacrificed superb game quality for broader appeal.
Dino Crisis 3. Game single-handedly murdered an AMAZING franchise...
Still waiting for Capcom to bring that series back from the dead...
I actually liked Perfect Dark Zero
Tenchu Z was absolute shit in a good way. Such a fun game.
Agreed on the rest though.
I'm concerned Arkham Knight will kill off the Batman games. Hopefully WB Montreal will continue. But they may copy the crap Rocksteady did in Arkham Knight. No atmosphere, shitty Batmobile, devolved combat. It's what happens when you take something that works and try to change it for the sake of it.
Arkham Origins on the other hand was criticized for being a copy of a great game with it's own story. But I fail to see how that's a bad thing when Arkham Knight is what you get when you force changes. And actually the Arkham Origins Story and Theme were quite enjoyable.
Once Arkham Knight has been completed, it just feels too boring for anything other than a short mess around. What a disappointment. Lost respect for Rocksteady.
Ninja Gaiden 2
Gears of War Judgement
Fable 3
Doom 3
NG2 makes no sense here. Apart from technical issues it was still damn good and the series was ruined when the original team broke up.
Off the top of my head:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Resident Evil 5
Castlevania: Whatever came after the DS games
Assassin's Creed 3
Thief
I don't think these series are beyond repair, but I don't think their owners give a flying **** about making them better.
So the game that turned that franchise into a juggernaut is the one that killed it?

Coming off of NG and NG Black from the xbox it was to me.

I thought we were talking personally. Cause Assassin's Creed and Resident Evil aren't dead at all either.
Sadly Other M for all the wrong reasons.
And to think some people still want a Metroid out quick despite that being the series Sonic 06 to fans, much to the point of wishing to waste MORE of Nintendo's money by cancelling Federation Force (which could be Sonic Boom without a Colors or Generations before it). This makes Samus less likely to recover than Sonic at this point, because at least fans were pleased somewhat with Colors and Generations.
I second X-Rebirth, loved the X3 series :(.
Dragon Age II, played that for 30 mins and knew it was a piece of shit.
The new Xcom game, while not a bad game it it's own right, it sucks compared to the original and has killed any chance of a proper successor.
Final Fantasy 13, say no more about that.
All Worms game post Directors Cut on the Amiga.
Alone in the Dark whatever the last one was.
I would have said Age of Wonders II, but they managed to make the third one exactly like the first, they must have realised it was shit.
Fear 2 shit. Dragon Age 2 shit. Rainbow 6 Vegas shit. Ghost Recon 2 shit. Rage console shit. Witched 3 shit. Tomb Raider shit e.c.t...
100% this. and Crysis 2
Too Human...
Its basically the minority report of the gaming world....it killed its own franchise before it could franchise.
I think games always have the ability to bounce back, because no matter how bad every other part of the game is, if it's fun to play, it's good. I can't think of a game that irreparably ruined a franchise because of that. But there are plenty of series that keep getting sequels that I can not care less about.
My vote goes to COD MW3
i loved Max Payne 3 , the gunplay was amazing and Battlefield 4 may not be as good as BF3 but it's solid (not considering the technical issues)

It's shaping up to be the best Arkham game of i've ever played , the game is frickin great and underrated.
Ok after reading a lot of people's list there are a lot of games that people just dislike not killed a franchise.
Soul Calibur 5: That killed the soul series. Tried to hard to introduce new mechanics instead of actually adding in new exciting characters. I swear Namco hated this series. It got the little brother treatment compared to the Tekken series.
Thief 2014: See soul calibur 5 reason for dying. Tried to hard to implement more action instead of being the stealth game people wanted.
Ninja Gaiden 3: Shallow game that couldn't do much.
Fable 3: The story for all the game except maybe the second one kept being a weak story. Gameplay wasn't terrible though.
Sonic (Pick a game after Adventure 2 except Colors and Generations): They tried to hard to be unique and killed themselves with this game.
Resident Evil 5: Way to turn horror game into an action game. See Leon going John Cena on zombies for the hilariousness of this game.
That's all I got.
Why a people listing a bunch of games that didn't kill their respective franchises? There's a difference between not liking something and saying it destroyed something.

I very much agree. TC should take control of this thread or just have it locked.
