I'll start
SNES - Street Fighter II
PC - Quake
Xbox - Halo
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Xbox - Halo
Xbox 360 - Halo 3
Wii - Monster Hunter Tri
Gamecube - Super Smash Bros Melee
Playstation 2 - FFX
Nothing really stood out for the SNES, N64 & PS1 at the time I bought them, I just thought they would be cool to have. I was right. There were plenty of titles I was interested in on the Wii, but I never bought one until Monster Hunter Tri pulled me over. FFvs13 could have been one for PS3, but FF13 killed a lot of the excitement, as well as the rumours it's coming to the 360.
GBC- Zelda: Links Awakening
GBA- Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
PS2- Dark Cloud
GC- Bomberman Generation
DS- Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (Castlevania: TBA at the time)
PSP- Tales of Eternia
Wii- Zelda: TP
PS3- Demons Souls
360: Infinite Undiscovery
I have never built a new PC for one game. But when I build this one, I was aiming to be powerful enough to play Crysis. I knew if I could play Crysis, I could play anything on PC.
SNES: was brother's so I naturally grew up with it.
Genesis: was Rocket Knight.
Playstation: heck I don't remember what game it was, It was either Spyro or Crash Bandicoot.
N64: just naturally loved the SNES, might as well get a N64. First Games? Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye. Although it was Brother's
PS2: Kingdom Hearts
Dreamcast: Sonic Adventure (sadly I never got one. :( )
Gameboy Advance: MEGAMAN ZERO
Gameboy: Just happened to get it suddenly.
Gameboy Color: Funny Long Story. But it involves Pokemon.
DS: Super Mario 64 DS
Gamecube: I wanted the Zelda Bundle but I didn't get that one either.... :( just a regular Gamecube.
DSi: It had more features than the DS.
Nintendo Wii: Motion Controls/ Twilight Princess (got the Gamecube version instead.)
PS3: Brother's but I think he may have gotten it for Grand Theft Auto 4 which at the time we thought was going to be a PS3 Exclusive. LOL
Xbox 360: Gears of War
I guess that's all my influences to get the game console.
That's easy. I have no qualms about this.
Halo was the first time I experienced a good console shooter (I played a lot of Crash Bandicoot on PS1) so that was the first game I picked up for Xbox. The Halo craze that followed made me get the 360 specifically to finish the fight. Wink.
I finished Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood in 2005 and read they were developing a third on next-gen consoles. And I THINK Mass Effect was announced before I got my 360. I was coming out of my KoTOR phase and everything about the Mass Effect E3 stuff was just fantastic. Those 3 games I always say I got my 360 for (though I picked up Hell's Highway on PC).
I bought a gaming rig specifically to play Company of Heroes with my friend two years back. I always thought COH looked cool, but never had the chance to play it. Until my military history buff friend surprised me by saying he liked COH. That was the first game I'd bought when I switched to PC gaming. We have been fighting the Allied forces tooth and nail in the French countryside to this day.
SMG made you lose hope in future Mario innovations. Why now?PSX - Metal Gear Solid

crysis's system requirements are quite low compared to some newer stuff. You can run Crysis maxed out with a duel core cpu, 2 gigs ram, and a two-year-old gpu. final fantasy was the only franchise that I would buy a console just for 1 game, but since the last two sucked (and it's multiplat if you don't mind changing disks every couple hours), there really isn't one for me anymoreI have never built a new PC for one game. PC upgrade wise the first game I spent "real money" upgrading for was Prince of Persia II. Man I remember hearing the 16 bit Soundblaster sound coming from speakers in stores and being blown away :) The only other game I specifically upgraded for was Crysis.

SNES - Street Fighter II
PC - Quake
Xbox - Halo
'Final Fantasy 14' benchmark gave me an excuse to dump my Sony VGN-FW-45 laptop and upgrade to DELL Studio XPS 1645 laptop. Seriously, I need it for work (for VMWARE Workstation) and it's the end of the financial year in Oz.Halo on Xbox
I bought a 24" monitor for my computer in anticipation of Batman AA, and it was glorious
And the first PC I got was for CS, TFC, and DoD.
Edit: And I got Soul Calibur with my Dreamcast. I didn't even know it was a fighting game when I bought it as I got my Dreamcast during my Halo craze, and figured Calibur would mean it was a shooting game. Even though it wasn't it still turned out to be one of my favorite games of all time.

The hype made me believe it will be the next "WOW!" in platform-games innovation, that it would do what Mario 64 did back in '96. Once I started playing it felt like a "Mario 64 3.0" (Sunshine being "2.0"). Same concept with added ideas.
Let me put it this way, I don't see any innovations as big as Mario 64 for platforming in the near future. I haven't even bothered beating SMG2
I picked up a N64 purely for GoldenEye and I upgraded my PC to play WoW on ultra but I ended up collecting a lot of games on both eventually. Every other system I have bought for a multitude of titles.
Nintendo - Super Mario Bros. (My dad bought)
Super Nintendo - Super Mario Bros. 3 (My dad bought)
266 PC - Quest For Glory, King's Quest, Space Quest (My mom got me into these games)
Game Gear - Sonic (First purchase that was actually mine, everything else I bought or got for Birthday/Christmas)
Nintendo 64 - Super Mario 64
Upgraded Gateway PC 1998 - Half Life
Playstation - Xenogears
Xbox - Halo
Got new Dell PC as a present - No particular game, not sure exactly when.
2002 Upgraded Dell PC - Just because, no particular game that I remember.
2004 Built New PC from scratch(first time) - Half Life 2/F.E.A.R./Doom 3.
Gameboy SP - Super Mario all star saga
2007 Upgraded PC 8800 GTS - Crysis
2008 Xbox 360 - refurbished box from a friend, no warranty, cheap. RROD'd on me middle of last year. Got because it was cheap, no real game interested me that much.
2009 upgraded PC again 9800 GTX+ and Q9400 Processor - No real game, just wanted to run current games better.
2009 PS3 also picked up 32" Sony 1080p HDTV early in 2009 - Uncharted, Demon's Souls, and Blu Ray player.
2010 Got 480 GTX, 8 gbs of ram and 24 Inch samsung monitor(have a surplus of money) - All the games I currently have now. :P
1. N64- Star Fox 64
2. Xbox- Halo CE (the best Halo to date IMO, mainly because of the "you truly felt alone at times" atmosphere and open ended level design for the outdoor environments)
3. PC- Half Life 2/Doom3 (I remember building a new PC with an Athlon 64 3400+, 1 GB ram, and a Geforce 6800 for those 2 games.. Great times)
Nintendo - Super Mario Bros. (My dad bought)
Super Nintendo - Super Mario Bros. 3 (My dad bought)

That's a shame because SMG 2 is hands down the best 3D platformer on the market. It has that sort of magic that people expect from a Mario game not to mention some very intersting level deisgns and game mechanics..The previous two PCs to my current one were assembled to coincide with the Battlefield series.
An Athlon XP 1700+ back in 2001 with Win XP and Battlefield 1942
An Athlon 64 X2 4200+ in 2005 with Battlefield 2.
My current pc (Phenom X3 720) is merely a temporary one after the motherboard of the X2 4200+ died. It played Crysis ok enough though.
360: PGR3
PS3: MGS4
Wii: LoZ:TP
PC: Doom 3 and Battlefield 2
NDS: Mario 64 DS
PSP: Forgot what game, but I think it was SOCOM.
Genesis: sonic and then became a sega fanboy and bought all sega consoles until the fall of dreamcast...then
xbox: DOA3
PS2: MGS3
PS3: MGS4 (which disappointed me but other games on PS3 more than made up for it's faults)
PC: Crysis
xbox360: nothing, just was hoping to find something great, not wanting to miss something that it might offer that could be amazing....I'm still waiting.
After tearing through Valkyria Chronicles (PS3) I immediately ran out and picked up a PSP for the upcoming VK2. Huge!
