Elder Scrolls Daggerfall, the main quest isn't that long but the game world spans something over a thousand miles to explore, oblivion was only like 6-9 miles as i recall.tab134Daggerfall's world is 487,000 square kilometers/ 188,000 sq miles; Oblivion was only 16 square miles.
If you're gona nominate a 6 hour game then the very least you could do is explain why. Assuming thats possible.

Bayonetta.

Because everything after the
Umbra Witch fight
sucked
Uhm. . . . . And you decided that this specific thread (about length) was the best place to mention Bayonetta's quality ?Dead Space 3. It just dragged on for way too long, and really hurt the experience for me as I eventually got pretty bored with it.Â
mass effect series, specially 3 and their bs fetch quests (im talking about the terrible and useless side quests, not the main game itself)

I know I've experienced a ton of these in my time, but few come to mind right now. I know I really enjoyed Zelda:WW for GC, but near the end when you are forced to go on a massive fetch quest, I really didn't like that. I also remember a while ago when Kingdom Hearts was first released. I was really looking forward to it, rented it, and the game starts with you going fetch quests and basically just doing random chores. That killed any interest i had in the game and never played it again.
I also felt that GTA4 was a bit too long for its own good.
I'm all for the option of long games, in the form of optional side quests, etc, but I can't stand when a game forces you to do things for no reason other than to pad the length of the game. To me, that really takes away the experience of the game.
Most games to be honest. I guess hours per dollar is an easy way to garner how much the game was "worth" but I feel most games drag on due to poor pacing.
I don't mind fetch quests, as long as the mechanics are solid i.e. Mass Effect 3. Its in the 1st game where even though the side quests seemed interesting in theory, its execution was tedius, mining minerals in Mass Effect 2 was terrible aswell.mass effect series, specially 3 and their bs fetch quests (im talking about the terrible and useless side quests, not the main game itself)

Dark Souls, the second half of the game after getting the lord vessel was a letdown compare to the beginning part.
While I haven't played it yet (although I do own it), I've heard that complaint be made about Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

No way,Lords of Shadow gets better the further you get.You should give it a go,just stick with it for the opening chapters and it becomes a really epic game.
No they don't.TessellationYes they do if it forces the player to play recycled content and to back track.. Dragon Age 2 was a big culprit of this. Another big one for me was Darksiders 1.. The game just threw puzzle after puzzle at you, especially when you were the final area.. It got to the point that I groaned that there was another puzzle I needed to solve..

Dragon Age Origins comes to mind.
Personally, I would take a 45 minute adrenaline rush over a 50 hour filler infested borefest any day of the week.

I enjoyed all 60 something hours it took to beat that game. And I have beaten is several times over too :P
Funny thing is with RPG's, while being way longer than other games, I beat them before short games. My friends always made fun of me that buying something like gears of war which is only 10 or less hours long, takes me over a month to actually complete because I would play it for an hour then get bored with it, but I could run through Tales of Vesperia in 2 weeks or under. I started up Kotor again, and before I knew it 4 hours had passed. Time absolutely flies for me when I'm playing an RPG.
A game though where I felt it just kept going on and on and I just wanted it to end, Dead Space 2. While I enjoyed it, there was part of me wondering when the game was just going to end because I was getting tired of it and wanted to beat it before other games released.

whoa, O_o am I on the right website
Thought I was trippin...

Thread title man. Nearly caught me off guard.
You only read the "huge length hurts the experience" but not the first part.I hate that Okami had a huge final battle and then....nope 20 more hours to go. Wtf. That's when I stopped playing. Bread_or_DecideI've never played Okami before... but yeah, i hate when games do that!

i dont mind getting a 4 hour game just not at $60reaver-xThe TC is talking about games that are too long that it hurts the experience.
I've for the most part played games that have pretty much been on the mark in terms of story and how long I would tolerate the game but there are some that come to mind.
Brink: The whole singleplayer.
Metro 2033: It was a decent length but I wish some of the stages were either shorter or just cut out entirely.
Morrowind: Holy f*ck....the amount of things I have to do and the quests I have to complete to beat Dagoth Ur....ugh. Combined with the huge open world and.....*groan* I love the game. It's great...but...god damn.
That's all I've got.

Huge Length, according to TC. However, Bayonetta did take me 13 hours to complete. At the top of my head...Lord of Shadows, while i liked the game, a lot of the stages felt like filler.
Also Xenoblade Chronicles, i mean love to death that game but i wouldn't mind if the game was a bit shorter...then again it might be because the first time i played it i didn't have much time to play.
Recently? FF13. The last chapter felt so filler-ish. Just boss after boss.tagyhagI can't believe it took so long for this to get posted holy sh*t. That game had a f*cking 10 hour tutorial.
10? It wasn't even until chapter 9 or so that you're given free reign over your party (while still being level capped). The whole goddamn game was a tutorial for the post game content.
