Add Lair also,I didn't like the game, but the levels were huge.Heavenly Sword.

[QUOTE="shutdown_202"]I dare someone to count the number of ogres there are in that first pic.Kameo still impreses me till this day
These screens arent very good representations. Theres also Blue Dragon which i thought had good draw distance.
Majoras Mask, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were all very good especially considering the hardware. The jump from the draw distance in OOT to MM was almost a generation leap.

Empire: Total War told me that is small time.
Demon's Souls have a great draw distance, I hope I could play a similar game on PC :(
These pictures don't do the game justice, there is this view in the first level, the castle, where you get to see the gate & the castle from a great distance before fighting with the knight with the long sword(forgot the name). Awesome view! couldn't find a picture of it though.

Truely I was always blown away by Demon's Souls scale, but GoW 3 looks to beat it.
Warhawk. You can snipe from one end of the map to the other and those are huge maps and unlike a lot of the games here, there is no pop up in warhawk and it's amazing to zip from one end of the map to another in a sec using the Warhawk. Not many of these games allow you to cross the map that fast. Sure Warhawk was lacking in a lot of the other graphical areas but in terms of draw distance, it's among the best
[QUOTE="GhoX"][QUOTE="inertk"] Sorry, you didn't actually present anything to back up what you were saying so I thought I'd retort on equal footing. I guess I'll go first. http://www.tweakguides.com/images/BF2_10a.jpg http://www.tweakguides.com/images/BF2_10b.jpg http://www.tweakguides.com/images/BF2_10c.jpg If I change the view distance on Battlefield 2, the game will only render up to a certain distance. Anything outside of that distance will be a misty fog, because it isn't being rendered -- because I reduced the draw distance. This is true regardless of whether or not I as a player can traverse the area. Hell, why not. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draw_distanceI think you just provided evidence for his argument. Those things you saw in that BF2 map are all considered "playable terrain". The reason is that they are not just 2D backgrounds. You can actually walk up there(and then get bombed or landmined), but those areas were crafted with the same details of the original map. In fact, a larger map of the same area in BF2 should include those landmarks visitable by you without a bomb dropped on you. In GTA4 if you see a tall building in the far distance, you can fly a chopper and crash it into that said building. In Uncharted 2 you cannot do that to most of the "backgrounds". Yep, Gulf of Oman. You seem to have missed my point though, draw distance is related to whether or not the assets are being drawn -- not if you can touch them or not. In the 50% screen, the crane is still there, it just doesn't fall within that draw distance. UC2 + Halo 3 for example, the two console games that come to mind with long draw distances. The 3D assets are still being drawn, to a specific distance irrespective of whether or not you interact with them. Simple yes and no question, is that not what draw distance is? In a nutshell, to what distance is still being rendered. Another thread can always be made, "Games with the best draw distance, you can ACTUALLY interact with" since the distinction is being made here regardless of the actual definition."Draw distance is a computer graphics term, defined as the distance in a three dimensional scene that is still drawn by the rendering engine. Polygons that lie behind the draw distance won't be drawn to the screen.inertk
you dont seem to understand....what you see in games like UC2 and Halo 3 in the backround isnt being rendered at all. Its known as a Skybox
fine ill be the one to do it crysis is awesome and wow if you set your distance to max can look amazing
im actually the little guy north of the red flag thats how much you can see.

Crane Operator: Shadow of the Operator
If you want to see a great good distance this is the game for you.
Delta Force 1 and 2
Sry for the bad pic.

Yeah those games were very ahead of their times. Full open levels, massive draw distances. They were pretty awesome. To bad the AI was bad and the graphics weren't much better :P
Anyways my vote goes to ArmA 2.
[QUOTE="LookAnDrolL"][QUOTE="inertk"] No it isn't. inertkStop self owning you! I clearly said that "skyboxes" and "2d" mountains DO NOT represent a great draw distance, well umm because ITS 2d, and it doesn't have polygons... Both Crysis and Far Cry excels at this because almost any terrain you see at the distance is playable. Great argument you got there! Sorry, you didn't actually present anything to back up what you were saying so I thought I'd retort on equal footing. Thanks for proving my point!
I'm surprised nobody yet said Shadow of the Colossus.jalexbrownFor a PS2 game, it has a ridiculous draw distance. The game was well ahead of it's time graphically.
Edit:LookanDroll, please highlight the specific areas in the Battlefield 2 pictures I posted which display either 2D backgrounds, or a backdrop/skybox masquerading as a 3D environment.
Demon's Souls really took me by surprise with just how brilliant some of the visuals were. There was a point that literally made my jaw just drop when I was playing the game. I believe it was in 1-3 when I was walking up a flight of stairs towards the Penetrator demon (I think that's the part that you're talking about). I kept looking up at the top of the castle, and it was probably among one of the most amazing sites I've ever seen in a video game.Demon's Souls have a great draw distance, I hope I could play a similar game on PC :(

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Uncharted series. Easily the best IMO.
I can't find a picture of chapter 2's city but look from the top of that building and you will be amazed! It's gorgeous!

The draw distance in UC2 isn't anything to write home about. As beautiful as the backgrounds may be, draw distance implies you can reach said distance rather than just see it.
I think we should make a couple rules for this thread.
1. Can't count games with serious pop-up issues (sorry Oblivion, Fallout, GTA)
2. You must be able to reach those beautiful vistas (i.e. thread is about drawdistance not skyboxes) so there goes Uncharted, etc.

Well it wouldn't be The Saboteur, thats for sure:P I was playing it yesterday, and after getting so far away, buildings start to look like really bad cardboard cutouts
So blurry!

Sorry buy Spiderman 3 on Wii wins the award for worst draw distance by an absolute mile:
Forgot about that game.
The battle simulator was a lot of fun.Me and my brother did a 60 minute mission,to blow up a train. It failed,I was flying too low and got hit by my brother dropping clusterbombs on me.Lto_thaG
I have those* too. But, I do like to simulate VFR training sometimes.
