[QUOTE="Wiimotefan"][QUOTE="parkurtommo"] How is it hardly a gameparkurtommo
Its very bare bones imo. More-so than what you would typically expect from a game. Yes its interactive and yes there are objectives, but they seem to take a back seat in the overall experience.
I'll admit, saying hardly a game is an exaggeration on my part, but the gameplay is not at the forefront of what makes it appealing. At least that's how I see it. I only played for about an hour, maybe 2 hours max so maybe it changes? The only thing that kept me interested was the art styIe. There were some absolutely beautiful moments.
You'd be surprised how many "hidden" or "unnoticed" mechanics there are in that game, if you were to replay it a few times you would notice them. It is a simple game, and it is beautiful, but it actually has pretty much all of the things most games have these days.Yeah I definitely need to put in more time then. I'm still early in the game. Or at least I think I am, I'm not sure how long it is.
Man, I've seen you praise games with weak gameplay lol. :PWiimotefanThat was then, when I could tolerate weak mechanics for a story. This is now, when I have become desirous of a visceral, "feeling" experience where I can more easily bridge the gap between myself and avatar. Over the years I have enjoyed both cinematic- and gameplay-oriented experiences. But after playing Dark Souls specifically, I am finding it not only difficult to pick up games with weak gameplay, but pick up other games in general. Just two nights ago I said I was "done" with Dark for an indefinite period of time (I did however predict that it wouldn't last long). I was able to finish the last half hour of Mass Effect 3 before being drawn back in to the Dark. It's an addiction for me, and I couldn't care less (I spend way less on gaming now).
Hmm I don't think UC3 had weak gameplay. Monkey around the combat areas, moving in and out of cover, climbing stuff, starting a melee fight, diving under water, then pop up somewhere to stsrt shooting again. To me that was a ton of fun and it felt real smooth all the way, dispite transitioning between different types of gameplay.[QUOTE="Sushiglutton"][QUOTE="UnrealLegend"]
The original Assassin's Creed and Uncharted 3.
UnrealLegend
The poor transitioning is why I consider it to have overall weak gameplay. It felt so clunky and incomplete, at least in comparison to UC2.
Interesting I never thought of that. The shooting->melee was perhaps the weakest part, but even that was ok.[QUOTE="UnrealLegend"][QUOTE="Sushiglutton"] Hmm I don't think UC3 had weak gameplay. It's pretty short, usually around 2 hours lol Oddly enough I think it has great replay value :P[QUOTE="Sushiglutton"][QUOTE="UnrealLegend"]

U3 sp > U2 sp. U2 mp > U3 mp.Definitely FO3, FO3:NV, Oblivion and Skyrim.
The shooting in Fallout is pretty terrible couple that with the abysmal AI, Stealth system blows only saving grace is the atmosphere it creates and the exploration.
Oblivion and Skyrim's combat is just bad, along with the same crappy stealth system from FO3.
It gets better if you level up your sneaking ability, at least in Skyrim it was possible to sneak around an entire dungeon without fighting.Definitely FO3, FO3:NV, Oblivion and Skyrim.

I thought SotC had good gameplay, but if not, that's one of mine. I greatly enjoyed Lost Odyssey also. To the Moon was amazing, despite being an adventure title.

Twin-Blade
Every Zelda game except Skyward Sword. The weak story and pacing in that made the shallow gameplay all the more noticeable.

The problem i have is with the 3 levels of stealth which is hidden/caution/danger. All 3 these have very specific AI behaviour, and it just does not make for compeling stealth gameplay.
The game should have better mechanics like a distract or even an option to re-vanish, if you are found. The whole dungeons knows where you are even though you are in a room with only one enemy.
SotC wasn't special in terms of gameplay mechanics? :? what other game was like it at the time?
Anyway I enjoyed Metro 2033 immensely even though it's shooting and sneaking mechanics can be a bit dodgy at times
Deadly premonition, terrible controls, repetitive enemies, but it's one of the best games on the 360

I have a PS3. That's how I own SotC/ICO.

do you also have a 360? or any other system? it seems to me your investing into non-ps3 exclusives. start thereThe Walking Dead episodes really don't offer much in the gameplay department, mostly you walk around inspecting things and talking to people until the game throws a tough decision your way. I'll be damned if I don't absolutley love it though.getyeryayasout
This too. Gameplay wise they're pretty clunky and bad. Unique but not in a good way to me. But they do offer some great story and dialogue along with choices that matter

There are lots of games like that.
Mirrors edge
Hitman (a great example of a game that takes advantage of what it has been given)
Left 4 Dead
Fallout 1,2,3 & New Vegas
Saints Row series
Skyrim
Cryostasis
ODST
One game on the flip side of that coin was the first Mercenaries game for me. It was the spiritual successor to GTA2 imo and was for some reason **** loads better than the second, which was completely weak in all regards.

Dude... hitman 4 has some amazing and quite challengeing gameplay if you really get in to it and go for those pro SA runs.
