I think he's implying that the bulk of these systems sales are from casuals. Yeah a lot of core gamers by these systems, but without the big amount of sales thanks to the "casuals", we might not have the success that the PS2, or DS had. I think that's what he may be implying.godzillavskong

Look, my wife's grandmother bought a Wii. She didn't buy a PS2. There is a different market afoot that wasn't as significant last gen.

Yeah, there's no denying the Wii brought a larger percentage of casuals to the market and even a larger percentage that don't even play video games normally. I'm just responding to what shinobi said, not saying I totally agree with him, but I do agree that all three companies do need to cater to the casual market, especially when there is that much $$ out there. The target of each company is to sell more units than the other, and once Nintendo opened up the flood gates with the wii, Microsoft, and Sony are attempting to get the larger share of that base too. I'm with you as far as motion controls go, and while I don't really mind them, I'd rather play with a standard controller, but as long as they don't ruin the already established franchises, and not totally ignore the core audience, then I'm fine. If it was up to me I would have them invest 35% of their resources on motion gaming, and the other half of the core audience that got them there, but somehow I doubt thats gonna happen. We really won't know until the next wave of consoles get here though.
