to start they used a FX-8350, it is about 3x faster than the PS4 Pro tablet CPU, how could they be so wrong? as discussed before http://www.gamespot.com/forums/system-wars-314159282/how-powerfull-are-the-cpus-on-current-gen-consoles-32740733/ the PS4 CPU is about as much powerfull as a triple core AMD CPU from 2007, and the PS4 Pro CPU being only a small overclock on the same tablet CPU is expected to perform abou as good as a 2008 AMD quad core like the Pheonom X4 series as stock clocks,
so this affect performance? in CPU bound titles like Elder Scrolls Online you can expect a sytem with 3x CPU power to perform 3x faster, just like my old i5-2400 beats PS4 2 to 1 in BF4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUlcHiXY0cQ

What about the GPU they used? ignoring the much better comparison DF did http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-we-built-a-pc-with-playstation-neo-gpu-tech they decided to use a fully clocked RX-480, that is without question a 40% faster card than what the Pro has, by sayng the PS4 Pro will perform like a RX-480 GS is saying that there will be no performance gap between Pro and Scorpio http://www.gamespot.com/forums/system-wars-314159282/with-rx480-out-its-now-possible-to-realistic-predi-33258105/
and the stupidity goes on, they said they had to pick a 4gb Vram card to avoid a bottleneck in 4k, but a terrible memory bottleneck is exactly what the Pro has as showed by DF http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-rise-of-the-tomb-raider-ps4-pro-vs-pc-comparison, PS4 Pro have 6gb available for games, in a time most games already use 6gb on system ram alone, even if every developer downgrade their games a lot to make they use only as little as 3gb ram on a game that uses 6gb ram on PC, there will be only a max of 3gb Vram left for the video, so in the best case scenario, PS4 pro has less power and the same amout of memory as a RX-470
about the memory they said "but we think a healthy 8GB of system memory is counterbalanced by the fact that the PS4 Pro doesn’t have to carry the extra performance burden of running a full-fledged operating system like Windows 10 in the background." did gamespot PC "builders" ever looked at task manager to see the amount of ram windows 10 uses? with all those background services and tasks win 10 uses less than 1gb ram, so a PC with 8gb ram + 4gb Vram will have 12gb and 11gb after windows, its about 2x as much as the PS4 Pro, it means you will have much better textures and also much better game with a non downgraded PC version of the game using 5-6-7gb of ram on this PC
top of this incredibly stupid article is the system power draw comparison, they state that they managed to build a comparable system with 319W, while the PS4 Pro is hated at 310W, but its clear that PS4 Pro dont use 310W, is has a low power 30-40W CPU and a underclocked version of a 200W GPU that might use some 100-120W in a total system power draw close to 150-180W,
just to compare, the PC equivalents of PS4's GPU the HD7850 and HD 7870 uses 130W and 175W and his downclocked version on the PS4 uses about 100W, adding the low power CPU at about 130W on the PS4, and this exaclty what PS4 consumes http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-hands-on-with-the-playstation-4-slim-cuh-2000 comparing PS4 Pro to a $700 PC that consumes 319W is the most stupid comparison they could have made, the FX-8350 alone consumes 125W, by their logic, the PS4 that uses nly 130W having the same CPU as the PS4 Pro should use 125W on a 8 core CPU just like the PC and would have 5W left for the GPU
as always, the equivalent PC built with same same amount of money will match or outperform console, you can build a $400 that beats the PS4 Pro and a $700 PC will (if done right) outperform the PS4 Pro almost 2 to 1, and this what you should expect for a $700 system tha has a 3x faster CPU and uses about 2x more power (319W vs 160W)
so they come up with that old console optimization argument, well sony itself admitted that console gamers leave consoles mid generation (2,5 to 3 years) for a better experience on PC, proving that sony itself never believed that stupid opitimization argument (how could consoles not be able to optimized and be obsolete only 2,5 - 3 years after release?) and "to the metal coding" or no overhead APIs are a real thing now on PCs with DX12(also used on xbone), Vulkan, etc, and the results are a 3 to 5% performance increase, it will never make a tablet CPU perform like a 3x faster FX-8350
so nice try gamespot, i hope you finally get all that PS4 Pro adverting money from sony you deserve
