Its about what they believe is more profitable. We'll see what happens though, Halo Wars doesn't seem like its going to be that good, as an Ensemble fan the review disappointed me greatly.

Wouldn't you? I'm not looking forward to Halo Wars at all, but if I had to decide to have a midnight release between Halo and Killzone, I would pick Halo Wars in a heartbeat. There are just too many mindless drones to take money from with that franchise.

Halo Wars will sell way more copies than KZ2, so, it's a smart business decision.

I seriously doubt it killzone 2 has way more pre-orders and when kids find out halo wars is not a shooter by either word of mouth or the demo they won't buy it and the reviews also dampen halo wars.

It isn't, but besides the disappointing review RTS on consoles is generally terrible and Ensemble has been on a downward slide for a little while now.

I don't think any of the 5 GameStops in my town are doing midnights for either game, but I know I would not go to either. I reserve midnight releases only for the biggest events. The rest can wait until the morning.

Why not download the demo and try it yourself? You are the best judge for yourself, after all.

The name Halo on it is good enough for a sizable sales base. I mean, through books, graphic novels, action figures, pop flavors, posters, clothing, etc, there are many things out there that shows the Halo name is a draw.

halo wars will sell at first because casuals will think its a brand new halo fps like part 3 but then they will find its a strategy game and return it

heretrix agreed. Anyway Halo series is far more famous then Killzone even though they are both good games. Basically Halo is more profitable franchise and well the fact that more people have a X360 then a PS3 probably comes into it as well. So Halo wins, even if they are over estimating the value of Halo wars.

^This, please stop complaining, most people are at work/school on Friday so getting the game at midnight doesn't make much of a difference at all.

i thought it was all on the store and manger at the store. o well, who cares some people don't even go to the midnight release of the game.

i never go to midnight releases for any of the games that i get. i don't see a point for doing that because the game will be released during the day. i have school that i go to.

I hang out with the guys at my gamestop they gave me a lowdown, They can only signed out used games and are able to play them for 7 days. when they usually sell a new game opened it's because it was the demo they used for the system

I guess they can't divulge everything to a good customer. I mean the guys at my store are really cool and they realize that gamestop really rips people off. They work their for their love of games and for need of money. Otherwise they arn't really the ones who push alot of things on you

Yes, life does get in the way quite a bit.

AND I can pretty much get any new release the day it comes out with no trouble. I remember when MGS 4 came out and I was able to get it several hours before the midnight launch. I walked past Best Buy laughing my ass off at the people on line.

Doubt it. Halo Wars is being released in hopes that all the Halo fans will gobble it up and embrace its shift from FPS to a RTS game.

While diehard fans will probably pick it up, the less dedicated might be turned away by the simple fact that it will more than likely lack the depth of a RTS game avilable on PC.

I can see it selling well, but lining up at midnight to get it sounds a little extreme for this one.

Dang, if I was a GameStop manager I'd have BOTH games as midnight releases. On the same night.

I'd set up a HW line and a KZ2 line about a meter apart (roughly throwing punch distance), set up some cameras (to capture it for Youtube) then sit back with some popcorn and wait for the inevitable fanboy fireworks.

yea but not an rts I feel this game will hurt the halo name and halo salez from now on.

I don't think this will sell that good it will sell ok but not so good it's not really doing good in the preorder like killsone 2 is.

Those decisions are usually based off how many pre-orders a game got. It would make a lot of sense to me that Halo Wars would receive more pre-orders since it has, you know, "Halo" in the title.
