[Quote=" "]Shortly after Microsoft and Sony held their E3 press conferences on June 10, GameStop had pre-order SKUs in their system for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 respectively. With price points and launch windows announced, both systems were available for consumers to reserve almost immediately. Just over a week later, the pre-order SKU for Xbox One has been removed from GameStops system corporate-wide without explanation.

As of this morning, GameStop management has confirmed that they are not currently taking reserves on Xbox One. No official explanation has been given for the removal of the SKU at this time, and GameStop has not clarified whether or not they will re-open the reserve list at a later time. PlayStation 4 is still available for reserve, and Sony recently announced that GameStop has pledged to buy every PlayStation 4 they can get their hands on.charizard1605

This can mean one of two things:

  • That the Xbox One is sold out, and that is why it is no longer available for pre-order within Gamestop's systems. This would imply that the Xbox One pre-orders sold out in spite of all the bad press the console has been getting, and before the Playstation 4.
  • That Gamestop has recalled the Xbox One, maybe because the console is so inherently unfriendly towards their retail oriented business model. This would also explain why the system has vanished without a trace from Gamestop's databases countrywide.

So which do you think this is? Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

SOURCE

I have said this before but I'll say it again.

my local regional manager recently had a meeting with other managers and head honcho big shots at gamestop, and they said that the X1 production was almost at a halt from some technical problem, and that they had major shortages and production issues. That is why they were all only given (on average) 10 Xbox One pre-orders per store. Where as the number for PS4's just got nudged to 56 (average) per store.

It probably means that they aren't sure M$ will ship enough XB1s to meet demand. Considering we've been hearing rumors about ESRAM overheating creating manufacturing problems for M$ this could be bad. Either way, we won't know yet until launch.

They were only taking pre-orders on the Day One edition of the X1. Unlike Amazon, they are not taking preorders for future stock, so the amount of preorders they are taking compared to the PS4 is limited. My Gamestop was sold out on the X1, but he told me there were still PS4s to order. There had been more PS4s preordered though.

That's just what my local Gamestop manager told me (while I was in there yesterday, buying some used games  ) so take it what you will.

How much is a good portion? I am betting you have no idea. Also certain stores will be able to trade games for X1 and considering Gamestop is what it is I am sure they are one of them.

Actually used games make those places the most money buy far. Not new products. What's funny is last gen Sony fan boys hated GameStop and claimed its used game practice was unfair and hurting gamers. Now GameStop is the best place ever because they buy nothing but used games and because there will be no used games on the "xbone". Funniest thing about it is the used games will still be on the shelves.

First of all you do know what an average is don't you? Second of all, ordering directly from their website is a little different than a store by store basis. Of course they will have more to ship directly from their warehouse...

If GS actually got rid of the option for people to preorder the console because of reason 1 people will be angry at gamestop and they will lose customers who buy both used and new games.

Each store is individually capped at a certain amount of preorders. Once they hit that cap, the pre-orders are turned off. Once the store get a firm launch date, there may be more quantities alotted. You can still preorder them on Gamestop.com and plenty of other places like Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Amazon. I preorderd both consoles already paid in full and will either get both or cancel one or the other once more concrete launch details are revealed.

Derp typo it doesn't really matter. I didn't call you a cow, I said you're talking out of your @ss like most cows? You're a bit defensive about being called a cow, don't you think? I just posted a link but perhaps you should really think about it for a minute. GameStop is one of the biggest used game sellers on the market and you somehow think MS wouldn't allow them to do it. Article said they are working a deal with MS, that's not confirmation at all except GS can possibly be one of those retailers.

The site spoke with GameStop stores across the country, with all outlets declining to accept preorders for the next-generation Xbox. These stores continue to take PlayStation 4 orders, as managers said stock for Sony's system is "considerably higher than Microsoft's."

Very surprising that Microsoft would produce so few for their launch, at least compared to the PS4

Lol this guy, thinking I'm a cow lol so funny. Also it wasn't an obvious typo, that was total derp moment on your part. It's ok though your the local SW idiot so we don't expect much from you.

If you can provide a source link saying GS is one of those stores, it can help your argument, I've yet to see any stores listed for being able to sell used X1 games.

You do realize how asinine that sounds?

Article said they are working a deal with MS, that's not confirmation at all except GS can possibly be one of those retailers.

So they're working with MS closely yet they're only a "possible" used game retailer? Confirmation or not, I'd bet everything i own GameStop will be able to sell used Xbox one games. Stop being so pigheaded. Cow or not, don't be so naive.

Really? because right now, I can go to http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-one and order 1 or more of 12 bundles and have them shipped on launch day.

StormyJoe

First of all you do know what an average is don't you? Second of all, ordering directly from their website is a little different than a store by store basis. Of course they will have more to ship directly from their warehouse...

FIrst of all, you did read the original thread topic, didn't you? You know, about XB1 pre-orders being taken of... their website.

Second of all, I am quite familiar with mathematics.

I'm glad that you know basic mathematics.

Did you read anything I posted in relation to the thread topic? Did I ever say you could not order from their website?

All I said was in relation to the thread topic was what my regional Gamestop manager told me after he was gone for 2 days having meetings out of state with other big shots from gamestop. I posted what I WAS TOLD.

What you and I were talking about was NEVER in relation to not being able to pre-order online or not... I was talking about IN STORE only.

If you can show me where I said that you could not pre-order online... please be my guest and quote me on it.

You do realize that someone can contribute to a thread whether they completely agree with the OP or not right? The fact stands that something is going on...

If you don't want to believe that for whatever the reason, that is just fine. However, nothing I said was meant to be taken so seriously... I'm not hating, or trolling, or anything else. I was simply contributing what I have heard first hand. If that bothers you, I appologize.

It probably means that they aren't sure M$ will ship enough XB1s to meet demand. Considering we've been hearing rumors about ESRAM overheating creating manufacturing problems for M$ this could be bad. Either way, we won't know yet until launch.

Read before posting! They switched to bundles...

http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-one

In relation to this... do you seriously think that Microsoft is going to send several different bundle packages to Gamespot instead of just the consoles? lol... no

Those are online pre-order bundles. No way Microsoft is sending 12 different boxed versions to each Gamespot. What happens if 9 people want a certain game but they only get 5 of each? That makes no sense at all...

Please tell me I am looking into what you mean the wrong way... You can't be serious if you really think these are gong to be ACTUAL boxed in bundles sold in gamestop...

The console has been confirmed $499.

I highly doubt bundle packages outside of online orders.

Bundling while adding FULL FACE VALUE for the game just doesn't make sense....

They will sell games and the consoles seperately at Gamestop.

If they don't then it is confirmed that both companies went completely crazy....

[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="CanYouDiglt"]Some prefer to always just assume the very worst about anything Microsoft even if it does not make sense.CanYouDiglt
Please point out where I made any assumption in the OP.

You second assumption is ridiculous. Do you understand how much profit they would lose on not selling the next Xbox. Microsoft has even said you can trade in games at select stores.

Trade-ins are garbage. Can you sell a X1 game on eBay?

Again, I am really not interested in what your local GameStop guy told you. The point is, the TC created this thread saying that GameStop had stopped selling the XBoxOne, and that it had been removed from GS's website.

That is simply not true.

Do they have limit quantities at their brick-and-motar locations? I don't know - I shop online for such things. But regardless of whether or not their is a limited supply at the local stores, the topic of this thread is false. That's all I care about right now.

[QUOTE="charizard1605"]

PlayStation 4 is still available for reserve, and Sony recently announced that GameStop has pledged to buy every PlayStation 4 they can get their hands on.CaseyWegner

SOURCE

should probably go with the one that makes the most sense.

This...

Whatever... you quoted me like you disagreed with something I said. The fact remains I was never talking about online pre-orders to begin with. You want to compare apples to oranges and then try to flip it...? Ok kid...

Could we just not assume there is a limited supply?
