Well, not all stores though. If it sells well in certain stores, the PS2 won't be going away at those stores. It's about damn time, too, though it's a big move to take Sony's juggernaut off of their shelves.

What about the rumors of bringing back old games we heard about recently? Unless they only have certain stores sell old games.
So if never owned a Ps2 is it worth buy one cheap now before it is gone?
Wiiyou
PS2 is always worth it... I0m thinking of getting one soon.

Jak trilogy, Sly trilogy, Ratchet trilogy, Psychonauts, Klonoa 2, there's also some decent Crash Bandicoot and Rayman games. You're asking people if the greatest console ever made is worth getting.[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="Wiiyou"]

It has a lot of EVERYTHING. There isn't a single genre that doesn't find adequate representation on the PS2. Games for the system are easy to track down, especially online. I say go for it. It could keep you busy for the rest of your life all by itself.[QUOTE="Wiiyou"][QUOTE="charizard1605"] You're asking people if the greatest console ever made is worth getting. charizard1605

Unless it's an age thing and mom and dad wouldn't let him.
*no offense*

I would go as so far to say that the PS2 will have the most diverse amount of games then any console in history, I can't see any console in the future being as diverse as the PS2 was. It's crazy how PS2 is still selling to this day....I honestly think the PS2 was the greatest system ever made. If you had to just choose ONE system to own for the rest of your life, the PS2 would be the best choice. There are SO may great games for it, it's library is HUGE. You would never run out.
I wouldn't want JUST a PS2, that's for sure. And I actually own one with a GameCube. It's crazy how PS2 is still selling to this day....I honestly think the PS2 was the greatest system ever made. And PS2 will be back at Gamestop if their plans to re-carry retro games passes.nintendoboy16That would only apply to the pre-PS2 era(s) of gaming.
I wouldn't put too much stock in what Gamestop does- Sony and the third parties say the PS2 will continue being supported until further notice. Good enough for me.
Ahh, actually sad to see the ps2 go from Gamestop. O well, it had an amazing run, and is still the best console in many people's eyes.
I'm gonna have to buy a few more games before they are completely removed. I already have about 30+ games, but want more just for collection.
To be honest I think Sony's pretty dumb to support the PS2 only symbolically.
They could still make games for it and it would still be selling.
They launched the PS3 when PS2 was still hot stuff, despite it's age.

What a stupid move.
Games are still being released on the PS2; and I'd wonder what Lamestop would do about even the smallest number of PS2 upcoming releases.
Not so much in North America. What a stupid move.

PS2 is pretty much gone from the shelves of Walmart, Target, and Toys R Us. Gamestop was pretty much the only one left that still supported the system. I've been to several Gamestops in my area recently and it seemed like the PS2 games were just piling up. The PS2's glory days are well behind it, so it's time that the system was retired in favor of the Wii U and other upcoming systems.
The Gamecube was already retired this year, and the N64 and PS1 were retired at Gamestop in 2005 in anticipation for the Xbox 360. It's simply the cycle of the market. Out with the old, in with the new.
