Feeling the best is very gratifying.
as does continuous use of a controller
I remember getting thumb blisters with NES and SNES pads.
About the only genre I prefer controllers for is sports games. It's a natural fit.
I love the analog triggers on it. Oh wait....
Most over rated feature I've ever seen. How many games take advantage of pressure triggers? Answer: not many.
Well, it is a huge benefit to racing games.
Mario Kart, an arcade racer, works fine without them, as I'd suspect every game on the planet that isn't a racing sim would. **** racing sims.
Mario Kart is a fun video game for a bit, but it is not much of a racing experience. Nothing is as satisfying as a good sim racer. It takes skill to master a track and to get the most out of a car. This is where those analog triggers come in to play. It is a functional alternative to a full wheel and pedals setup. Analog triggers are also useful for flying games or anything that would want to simulate a throttle or varying degrees of pressure (fire hose, flame thrower, beam cannon, simulating grip force, etc.).
@BassMan:
Yes but that is the only genre and if one were so invested in such they'd buy a wheel, no? For everything else they are a hindrance.
This thread reminded me to look up this old SW gem
I remember @JigglyWiggly_. One time he would go on about how he could be surgeon with his skills.
Oh boy, being 18/19 with a massive ego were fun times.
