Gears 2 or Resistance 2 : Which one has better graphics (technically)?

Resistance 2 make look technically better from what I've seen, though I haven't seen enough.

Gears 2 just looks more vivid though.

What do you mean techinically? Polly count, lighting, textures?

I havent seen a whole lot of R2, mind you. But from what I can recall, Gears seems to have better close up details while Resistance 2 seems to be better looking when you look at the big picture. Resistance is of a much larger scale.

And I think this make sense considering both game's different styles.

This isnt even a contest look at both e3 08 videos and youll find your answer, resistance 2 looks so bland.blitzkid1

Well in terms of technicall graphics Gears has alot more stuff.Example soft bodies,stunning new lightning system....etc..etc..But insomniac game made sure that everything in resistance i.e. the big ships,the big bosses and the massive landscapes are in REAL-time.

But still Gears of War 2 is simply just better,technically speaking ! Although i dont like their grey and muddy textures.

Any difference between the two exists purely from an artistic standpoint, or in the minds of fanboys. Both games posses an impressive mastery of the latest and greatest visual effects, from lighting to textures, both games are stunning.

the games also have two different styles. gears is all about being one with the environment, using cover. Therefore this cover must look very detailed, or gamers will cry foul. Resistance was always about the "big picture," and its zany weapons that totally negate terrain advantages (ex. the auger that shoots through walls and makes cover completely pointless). So, you see comparing them boils down to a matter of personal taste.

looking that picture the only noticable difference is the lesser draw distance.

it depends really, resistance will have larger more detailed environments, its what insomniac does, but gears may have better textures.

Its hard to say which will look best at the moment.

I don't know why this is even a contest. Gears 2 is the OBVIOUS winner against Resistance 2 graphically.

Gears 2 and Killzone 2 are more comparable with Killzone 2 perhaps edging Gears out.
