Now I agree that it'll have a far tougher time winning GOTY this year but it's short campaign and 4 v 4 multiplayer modes didn't stop the original from being named GOTY in 06 over Resistance's 40 player MP and 12+ hour campaign.

honestly guys with Horde mode the game lasts forever. I'll see you guys online for that. Nobody reachded leevl 50 on insane. The most anybody has been able to reach was level 37 I believe.

I am going to need teh best of teh best to get to 50.

ya but there was that review on the first act a few weeks ago and the reviewer said though this was probably more of a speed run time, that the first act could be beaten in an hour and if its anything like the oriignal gears a second playthrough could easily be done in 5-6 hours first playthrough probably 8-10

PS: Gears 1 was GOTY, just in case you didn't realise that. ;)

PS: Gears 1's compeition consisted of launch titles for the PS3 and Wii. It won GOTY by default ........not saying it didn't deserve it but let's not pretend there isn't much, much, much better competition this time around. Saying Gears 2 is lock for GOTY just doesn't make sense with the compeition this year. You have GTA4, MGS4....heck maybe even LBP will win it. There is just way too many titles and the fact GTA4 and MGS4 have scored 10's here........essentially saying Gears 2 will be GOTY is saying it will score AAAA here.

Sheer numbers don't make a game a good game. Sheer polish does. And Gears 2 looks like it has that in amazing quantities (wouldn't have said that a week ago, but the stuff I've seen this week...:o )

I just dont see the point in a game being longer than it needs to be just for the sake of being longer especially when things like on line play are a staple nowdays. Gears 1 was plenty long, I spent about 10 hours going through it, I dont go straight through, and I dont rush through so I can come on here and scream 5 hours. I figure they spent 2-3 years developing this, I may as well put extra time into it on my end.

COD4 was short as well and it was awsome just like Gears. Halo 3 was around 15 hours long, and Resistance was around 20. A game CAN be too long, especially a shooter. As games become moer like films, they have got to be edited. Sometimes you can do without some levels in a games, and the backtracking and false dificulty for the sake of length is not apreciated.

In regards to Gears1, that game was just long enough, anymore levels and it wouldve been a little forced.

Also, I dont know about you guys, but I'm usually playing about 4 games at a time with new ones arriving every couple weeks. So if a game starts to drag on too long like Conan or Resistance, it runs the risk of not being finished which happens to MANY of the games I play. They either take too long to start being good, or drag on far beyond the realm of justifiable length. If your game is sweet at 10, release it at ten. If it's right at 15 then those extra levels had better be REAL interesting.

Around the 10 hour marker is where I like it. 15 at the most. 20 is too much.

I'm liking the 12-15 hour range.

Because, it's such a tired idea, and just so unoriginal. And besides, they couldnt come back to life in the first one. Why can they in this one? There was no real super natural twist like that in the first one... why this one?

Well, if they arent dead I dont think it's that lame. If they are still on the ground and they're crawling and stuff and he revives them without touching them, then I can be okay with that. But from what I've seen I think he revives completely dead locusts. Like their limp bodies are laying on the ground and all the sudden they get to their feet. lol.

I have only seen one video of the Kantus, it looks like they revive only downed enemies, not dead ones.

In this video it even says "revive downed teammates"

Really, it's not a big deal. The video also gives other little details about him.

To bad they don't use Blu-Ray for this game , they could even cut the gameplay down in half to about 6 hours and then add a load of far fetched 60 to 90 minute crazy story cut scenes .
