It won't flop, but it's doing nothing special to get GoTY.

it won't do anything impressive, maybe the multiplayer, but resistance 2 will probably have that covered. Gears of war 2 will probably be just like Gears of war 1, but times have changed and there are better games this year than gears of war 2.blitzkid1

Nahh, I'm not much of a PC gamer - plus, the MP is plagued with the same lag on the PC version as well (I think). They've apparently fixed it all up this time around.

Resistance was a launch title so that has to be taken into consideration, comparing their most recent games Ratchet and Clank Future: TOD > Unreal Tournament 3.

I was posting under the assumption he meant that Gears had shooter GoTY on lockdown. And Ubisoft make alot of good games you know ;)

Those three titles were for shooter GoTY nominations, disputing his claim of shooter GoTY on lockdown.

Shadow of Chernobyl got most immersive last year over BioShock, Clear Sky can top it ;)

You know what's funny about system wars...or even human nature in general?

The same clouds of doubt and blind hate surrouned the release of the first installment of the Gears of War series...and for a few days following the review (9.6) all of the haters failed to show up because they had their tails between their legs.

Now they want to do it all again. So go ahead..."this game won't be great", "this game won't be nominated for GOTY"...i'm sure it's fun to rifle off these blind statements now. But these are the same guys that won't be found when the review is released.

And for that matter, Resistance was hyped to kill GeOW, and didn't come close. So you'll have to excuse me if I don't agree with people when they say Resistance 2 will out-perform GeOW2.

Fact: nobody really gives a crap if a sequel to a GOTY winning game gets nominated for GOTY. If it does, then it'll have to be really good - far better than the original when it's up against Spore, GTA4 and MGS4.
