Even if both are complete bullshots, KZ3 looks better no doubt. I am personally sick to death of the unreal engine. It just dosent appeal to me anymore.

From those bullshots, Gears 3 looks better. I can't stand looking Killzone 3, although it is a step up from Killzone 2.

They both look great, and they are very close in terms of quality. :)

I was under the impression that the Helghast wear those respirators because the air quality on thier planet is very bad. (I am probably wrong on this though)

I would imagine that if so, that may have alot to do with those hazy orange colors...

Doom 3. The most part of the game was in the dark confined rooms, so ppl were glad when they could go outdoors to the ORANGE mars surface. :P

Hmmm not a great comparison :|.

Playstation 3 games tend to have a lot more low res textures. I think that Gears will have better texture qualities, and better art style. I think Killzone 3 will have be better looking (from a more technical perspective). They'll probably get comparable reviews as well.

For me its Gears 3 simply becouse its nice to see the trend of brown and sh...poopy being spiced up with COLORS.

To clear things up, those are multiplayer pics of Killzone 3 versus heavily modified pics of Gears 2 single player. We've all seen the videos of both correct? Let's ask ourselved which of these games look closer to those pictures in the OP.

Killzone 3: When I look at the mutliplayer footage of KZ3, it looks identical to the 720p pictures released by Guerrilla Games. You can even spot some minor jaggies and minuscule clipping issues. Looking at Guerrilla's history, they've never used a real bullshot to promote Killzone 2 (no the 2005 CGI video doesn't count, they specifically said it was CGI). With that, I'm inclined to believe the pictures they released for KZ3 are indeed a close, or even an identical representation of the final game (or at least its current state).

Gears 3: I'm 99.9999% positive Gears 3 won't look like those pictures in the OP when it comes out, and neither does it look like that now. At the same time, Gears 3 looks good as hell in videos! Just don't feed into Epic's promotional shots. They did the same with Gears 1, 2, and UT3, so history tells me they are following the same path in promoting this game. Their enhanced photos are amazingly good looking, even better looking than Killzone 3, Halo Reach, Rage, and Crysis 2, but they are not a legitimate representation of the actual game's visual quality. I believe they do this on purpose for 'cool wallpaper on desktop' purposes. It's likely they are beyond the normal bullshot where only jaggies are smoothed out. These are heavily enhanced in-engine shots and I think Epic themselves don't expect people to believe the final game will look like that.

EDIT: The first pic of Gears 3 looks like a legit cutscene. The last two are most likely heavily enhanced.

Both look great. Maybe Killzone has the edge.

Xbox 360 is incapable of displaying high end ps3 visuals, as proven by the games released thus far. I predict that Gears 3 will be comparable to Gears 2, which itself was comparable to Gears 1--a game that is comparable to Splinter Cell Chaos Theory on the original xbox.

Got to love the extra AA added to the shots. No one will be expecting the crappy texture filtering and LOD either when they start playing.

There is this E3 gameplay and a few off screen from beast mode.

I'm certain they will both have a very high visual appeal though I'm betting Gears 3 will be the better game. :P

I just find it funny that people think there is some sort of hidden power in consoles that will unleash fury upon a PC from TWO THOUSAND AND TEN! Sheesh. Imo, it's almost just as funny that people seem to think the 360 is as graphically capable as the ps3. The proof is in the games, and the fact is that 360 fanboys have essentially been saying, for years, "Oh you ps3 fanboys just wait, one day the 360 will release a game that looks better than Uncharted 2."

I'm really not. My most played game this gen, by far, is halo 3 mp. The game I'm most looking forward to is halo Reach. I'll honestly tell you that I didn't find RDR impressive at all. Same deal with the Gears series, which throws soooo much bloom into the mix it is almost ugly. I will say Rage does look impressive, but it is scheduled to come out in a year from now--so until then I'll believe it when I see it. Bringing up those games is the same as bringing up Uncharted 3 though, really.

If someone showed me clips from Rage, which were completely playable, and then told me, "sooooo, this game will be coming out....in one year." Oh, really? But it looks pretty complete. Now on the other hand, considering what Naughty Dog did from Uncharted to Uncharted 2, if they just told me, "Uncharted 3, while maybe not as big a leap from 1 to 2, will still improve quite significantly, graphically." I would somehow believe them, because they actually delivered with the second game.
