Speaking of which, isn't Gears of War 4 the only notable Xbox One console exclusive that came out in the last 18 months?

Yep, and it's not even that notable. This series fell out of the fun category long ago.

I suppose Halo Wars 2 and FM7 don't count eh? Plus Sea of Thieves launching in a few weeks as well.

Pee Salty Seas these dayzzz. lol :P

One is a mediocre RTS and the other is an above average racing game, but racing games are incredibly niche. For instance, I just don't buy them because I don't want to play them, but I enjoy almost every category of games. Racing and fighting are the niche games, and while they may be good, they just don't appeal to a large amount of people.

Sea of Thieves looks like any survival game. It looks a lot like Rust, in fact, and Rust blows once you play more than a few hours. I have a feeling it'll be fun initially for most people, but will lose its luster quite quickly.

When I hear the word notable, I think of a game that would be worthy of a remaster/remake at some point, or a game retains a decent following after release, something which Gears 4 hasn't. Does Forza or Halo Wars 2 feature a decent following still? If they do, that's news to me. Lol

Be honest, but when was the last time you heard someone say, "I'm going to go home and play Gears 4. I can't wait."?

Well, you're secretpolice, so you'll probably just troll, but that's okay. :P

C'mon man, your better than that. Orrrr are you? lol :P

Anyhooie, just to respond to that last bit, I'm about to sign up for GamePass and Gears 4 is high on my list of can't wait to play games. :)

You call yourself an exclusive Xbox gamer and you don't own Gears 4? Even I own Gears 4 on PC, and I don't even own an Xbox One. Btw, the game is boring.

Nah, others call me that. lol j/k Also I have a Yuuuge backlog of games and seriously can't justify buying more games. GP will be great for me, getting it mainly because SoT coming but others like Recore I would like to try as well.

The fact that PC version has Dynamic Resolution Scaling option means the X1X is also using it....... MP mode where cpu usage is higher X1X has to use Dynamic resolution scaling....

"We’re excited to announce Xbox One X owners will have two Preferred Rendering Options to choose from in Gears of War 4 – Visuals and Performance!

Performance

Put framerate first. For the first time ever, Gears of War will play at up to 60fps in 1080p in Campaign and Horde – all including higher resolution textures and some of the new enhanced graphical features available in Visuals mode.

Visuals

Push graphical fidelity to the max. This mode uses Ultra Quality Textures, a wealth of new and improved graphical features all at 4K resolution (3840×2160) thanks to the power of Xbox One X. You’ll experience the same frame rates you’ve come to expect from Gears of War 4 – 30fps for Campaign and Horde .

In both Rendering modes, Versus will run at a rock-solid 4K 60FPS (with adaptive resolution scaling)."

Also whats funny is that if the resolution is dynamic then it means that it drops resolution to keep the locked 60fps framerate. It is not rock solid 4K.

I know the campaign runs at 4k at 30 fps without DRS, however the fact that VS has to use DRS to keep 60fps target mean that X1X is not the best at 4k...... when VS is not actually running at 4k.....

Don't swing differently now. You were comparing 30fps gameplay in your comment which ONLY relates to campaign and it runs solid 4k at 30fps with no scaling. Focus man. :)

Comparisons in Vs can’t be made until we know how far the resolution is dropping, but for starters we know X1X gets netter performance and visuals at 4K vs a 1060

"ambient occlusion, This is also one of the more demanding settings on the PC and using the ultra option certainly impacts performance especially when attempting higher resolutions. High produces excellent results, however, and is much less expensive. Xbox One is interesting in that it doesn't appear to completely match any of these results on the PC", "with very subtle differences in coverage. We'd peg it somewhere between high and medium"

lol only because its running below full ultra settings...... its using a slew of settings including medium to high to some aspects to save performance. If you where to turn down one or two settings to high from ultra gtx 1060 would still beat the x1x.

you have to take into account that vast majority of X1X users are experiencing none of the benefits of HDR since they dont have a HDR set or hardly seeing any benefit from HDR TV's because of many their tv's are "fake HDR" and not using 10bit HDR. So playing the game below ultra settings at 4k and dynamic 4k with VS on any of these fake HDR sets or "normal tv does not supply the best 4k experience.

Best 4k experience is subjective.... based on multiple aspects from equipment quality to personal preferences.

Gears of War will still be Gears of War even at 8K and 200 FPS. No one should brag about the mediocrity that is Gears of War franchise.

No differences in 4k between a 5960x and a FX-8370

lol FX 8370 and GTX 1060 providing solid 30 fps at full 4k vs X1X's dynamic resolution....

Lol a “solid average” 26 FPS, and with obviously lesser quality shadows than X1X

ignoring the fact its not running full ultra settings on x1x.....

We'd peg it somewhere between high and medium"

who are you quoting

You can say stuff like that about a lot of sequels.

cant ignore DF face-off review that shows X1X has more compromises than PC using high/ultra settings.

" "Then we have light scattering quality, which controls the volumetric lighting used in various portions of the game. Increasing this option improves the precision of the effect resulting in cleaner results without additional artifacting along its edges. Xbox One actually appears to use the medium option here, which still looks quite nice, but lacks some of the precision of the higher quality settings. Bloom and lens flare quality are two rather subtle options, then, that influence the intensity of said effects and both of these appear to operate at the high setting on Xbox One."

"Lastly, we have the all-important ambient occlusion which is designed to handle contact shadows throughout the scene, as usual. Some of this information is actually baked into materials which is combined with real-time ambient occlusion to create a more cohesive looking scene. This is also one of the more demanding settings on the PC and using the ultra option certainly impacts performance especially when attempting higher resolutions. High produces excellent results, however, and is much less expensive."

"Xbox One is interesting in that it doesn't appear to completely match any of these results on the PC with very subtle differences in coverage. We'd peg it somewhere between high and medium but it's not entirely clear. On PC you can also adjust the intensity of the ambient occlusion effect which basically controls the strength of the contact shadows." "

So as you can see X1X has to compromise quality to get to its 4k target which means its not "best at 4k". Dynamic shadows and HDR(if you have TV that does not have fake HDR) is only positive aspect to X1X, while every other aspect of the game is worse especially with VS where it has to use DRS to keep the target framerate.

“While discussing Gears of War 4, reviewer Jimmy Thang said, "In terms of pure image fidelity, it surprisingly looked better than our high-end gaming PC equipped with a GTX 1080 running the game maxed out, as it offered extra dynamic shadows that don't seem to be available on the PC”

This is at least the 4th time you've mentioned this in these forums. Yeah, why not just make a thread about it.

But every time you mention it the response is always similarly indifferent. They patched the game specifically for the XBOX One X, but not for the PC. It has nothing to do with hardware.

Mediocre blue and orange rehash game on a mediocre system.

With gameplay from 2005.

Sad that so many are under the assumption this game is bad, it isn't, not even close. Might not justify getting an XB1 for those already resigned to not getting one, but a great game for those who have yet to fall victim to SonyGAF's Kool Aid that's been as ham-fisted into the gaming community with the lack of subtlety (but nonetheless effectiveness) of a Russian troll farm psy-ops campaign.

PS4 sucks too. Both consoles are a joke.

How is the PS4 a joke? please give me an depth argument.
