Gears of War franchise coming to PS4 (TLHO)

It’s Epic’s franchise. You and I both know that. I can’t make any assurances about anybody else’s franchise. I’m a huge fan of the franchise. I want to continue to work with Gears. I think there’s a lot of life left in that franchise. We had an internal discussion on it even yesterday. It’s something that’s active in discussion about what we can do with Gears. Obviously, I know [Epic's management] Tim Sweeney, Mark Rein, Jay Wilbur incredibly well, so nothing to announce yet and I’d say, yes, there’s nothing even pending that I’m holding to announce, but I understand the importance of the franchise to the Xbox platform and to gamers—I’d say gamers first. It’d be great to do something forward with that franchise.

XB1's just came out but already losing exclusives... How times change.

I was done with gears after the third game. They are going to have to do some significant changes to get me to play again.

I played this game when i had the Xbox 360 back then, i played the third installment again with my brothers 360 and i say this as an opinion, this franchise is boring

i) Gears is shite

ii) lack of confirmation

iii) please just stop.

But, does it really matter? Did the world end when Sony lost Final Fantasy or Metal Gear?

It's been rumored for a long time now that Gears will either stay dead or come to PS4. Even though the series sucks it would be pretty big ownage if it came to PS4 since its one of xboxes flagship titles. Many people would switch over from xbox.

Not sure it would even matter if Epic releases another Gears as mediocre as the last couple.

Epic seems to always do this. They create a genre-defining hit...then milk it and bleed away the things that made it enjoyable.

Case in point? Unreal Tournament. UT '99 was a classic. A defining game. 2003 and 2004 were solid, though perhaps a bit busy as they walked slowly away from what made UT '99 great and into vehicular combat. By the time they released UT3, they had lost the very spirit of what made UT '99 a game of legend. The easy to understand design and philosophy of maps in the early games turned into unwieldy mazes in UT3. Maps became often times too big or too ugly for their own good. Some vehicles simply broke the game in many ways (the War of the Worlds walker thing). The result? That game died within months of release. The community tried to embrace it, but had to walk away from that mess with great sadness.

So we see the same with Gears. Weapon designs and balance haven't been really enjoyable since Gears 1, and seemingly every release has brought more annoyances than enjoyment. I would not be surprised if the next Gears turns off long-time Gears players forever, just as the UT3 did the UT base which had been strong for nearly a decade.

There is not much ownage, this would be an average game on the playstaton scale of games. Also there is no confirmation.

Yep, its illogical to assume the reason it has not been shown is because it no doubt looks worse just like every single other engine.
