GEARS OF WAR is the worst game i have played in awhile

So i picked up gears of war last night and i gotta say this game is awful. it takes way to many bullets to kill anything, the cover system is akward, the over the shoulder view is kind of dumb, and idk how anybody really enjoyed this game besides looking at it. im kind of pissed.

*edit* maybe the above post was a bit of a rant, this game looks great but just something about it isnt keeping me hooked. im well into the game but im just not enjoying it. The graphics are really good and the enimies are diverse, i guess my biggest complaint is gameplay.

Hmmmm you are what the industry calls a "tough customer". The over the shoulder view worked for RE:4 and it works for Gears as well. If you were disappointed in this game I suggest you NOT play Lair, or Heavenly Sword then either. Also I would like foryou to expand on your theory of "awkward" cover system.

The fact it actually utilized cover, very few games have done it this well mind you, was why I personally liked it. TACTICAL firefights.

On the other hand, there is lots of jumping fast paced Unreal Tournament/Halo type FPSes out there.

Any game that falls inbetween being frantic kinetic shooters or tactical duck and cover shooters fails now. Any FPS where you can't at least jump to get out of the way, and your only mechanism for covering is walking behind a wall sucks hard (*cough Bioshock *cough*).

well i just got my 360 last week so i figured id try it out because ppl say its an awesome game, and it got high ratings. but not really its only fun to look at nothing really else going for it imo.mattyomo99

Much better. See how thoughtful comments work. I agree 12 year old prepubescent children DO make playing online games a pain but I learned to just mute those children. It's not as if ANY popular game isn't ruined by this. Halo 3 will have it's fair share of annoying children as does Warhawk and Killzone 2.

but gears isnt a tactical shooter, it shouldnt take like a whole clip to kill something. i like the idea of the cover system but it isnt really done to well. I enjoyed rainbow six vegas, and graw 2s cover system and gameplay but gears aint doing it for me

It shows you have only got past the tutorial level, and you think you can comment on the entire game? Granted, I didn't much like the game besides single player, but finish the game(or atleast get past act 2) before you can rant on the game.spinecaton

Remember, you aren't fighting humans. And yea, the cover system IS well done. The only better one is that Time Crisis light gun game in the arcade.

i didnt like the over the shoulder view in gears, it is just wierd. And RE4s over the shoulder view is alot differant sooo whatever

im further then that, i stopped playing after you have to plug up the holes in the ground and then you split up with ur team and kill all that stuff in the big building. i just dont like it, idk why. maybe im more of a fan of realistic shooters

Where does it say here on GS that Gears is a tactical shooter? You should've watched videos or did some type of research before playing it.

Well OK let's discuss this since NOW your comments are a bit more fleshed out and thought provoking rather then a mired rant. My opinion on the multiple shots is that EVERY game does that. Characters have life bars some visible some not. One shot killing unless a headshot is a bit boring if you ask me. ESPECIALLY if I'm the one getting killed after one shot. Now take into consideration that Gears was created as an over the top action, firefight, war against hideous brute monsters. They want the firefights to be intense, action packed and drawn out to capture the essence of extreme combat. The Locusts aren't run of the mill enemies in fact I think they were breed to withstand multiple misplaced bullets especially if you're only hitting them in the arms or legs.

The cover system was very well done in Gears as it was in R6: Vegas. Both games did a fine job of implementing this feature just in different ways. What exactly was wrong with Gears? You pressed a button designated to take cover and your character did so. You move left and right to wall hug the cover and then peer around it. Simple and effective. Please elaborate.

You can also get your health back after taking a couple bullets, don't forget that!

I must have imagined all that fun I had playing it. Especially in hardcore. Especially with co-op.

And thats without touching the online multiplayer.
