GEARS OF WAR is the worst game i have played in awhile

The cover system is brilliant and you suck at headshots apparently. Stop shooting at body armour.

So i picked up gears of war last night and i gotta say this game is awful. it takes way to many bullets to kill anything, the cover system is akward, the over the shoulder view is kind of dumb, and idk how anybody really enjoyed this game besides looking at it. im kind of pissed.

I'll be honest though, it took about 2hrs before I really started to enjoy GeOW. Getting used to the gameplay takes a bit.

yeah.. on legendary its hard, thats the hardest difficulty, any game can be hard like that.. and saying dmc3 was easy, u probably played the special edition, they dimmed it down because people were crying about its difficulty.. the original dmc3 before the nerf was terribly hard (not on the level of contra though but still).. as far as halo, the game is just easy for the fact that killing is a joke.. (no true recoil or anything point.. shoot, and they die.. of course on legendary u actually have to give it SOME thought, otherwise the game is an extremely easy shooter, particularlly online...)

GoW (online) is more like a real fps, its competitive and takes time/skill/practice to get really good at, halo isnt like that, its not competitive like any other fps out there, its designed to just be fun and easy to play, thats why when they play something else they dont know wtf is going on "OMG THIS IS LIKE THE HARDEST GAME IN THE WORLD" no, ur issue is halo is like the easiest

The fact it actually utilized cover, very few games have done it this well mind you, was why I personally liked it. TACTICAL firefights.

On the other hand, there is lots of jumping fast paced Unreal Tournament/Halo type FPSes out there.

Any game that falls inbetween being frantic kinetic shooters or tactical duck and cover shooters fails now. Any FPS where you can't at least jump to get out of the way, and your only mechanism for covering is walking behind a wall sucks hard (*cough Bioshock *cough*).

but gears isnt a tactical shooter, it shouldnt take like a whole clip to kill something. i like the idea of the cover system but it isnt really done to well. I enjoyed rainbow six vegas, and graw 2s cover system and gameplay but gears aint doing it for me

Shoot em in the knees, they drop, then take them out. Relax man. Is it Rainbow 6? No. Is it a great game? IMO, YES!!!

and uh... started the game on hard? do u know that u cant do that without cheating?(theres a start menu cheat that unlocks everything.. otherwise u HAVE TO play on normal first, lying?) u must of used super dante on hard mode.. good job taking the challenge/fun/accomplishment out of the game

I suggest you get some friends together, or if you dont have any RL friends, make some buddies on XBL and play coop before you turn your back on the game.

*edit* maybe the above post was a bit of a rant, this game looks great but just something about it isnt keeping me hooked. im well into the game but im just not enjoying it. The graphics are really good and the enimies are diverse, i guess my biggest complaint is gameplay.

Hmm, I own a Wii so I'm obviously no graphics whore and I'm also 19 years old. Well there goes that theory.

I'll decide when I pick it up for my PC.

Hmmmm you are what the industry calls a "tough customer". The over the shoulder view worked for RE:4 and it works for Gears as well. If you were disappointed in this game I suggest you NOT play Lair, or Heavenly Sword then either. Also I would like foryou to expand on your theory of "awkward" cover system.

What do Lair and HS have to do with it? Last I checked they were a flight game, and an action slice 'em up, respectively. Absolutely nothing in common w/ Gears.

It shows you have only got past the tutorial level, and you think you can comment on the entire game? Granted, I didn't much like the game besides single player, but finish the game(or atleast get past act 2) before you can rant on the game.spinecaton

Then Casual is for you. Personally I looooove pumping an entire magazine into one of those freaks of nature (Locust Drones). Its always plenty of ammo laying around.
