While user reviews can be all over the place, or sensational (Jim Sterling is the "professional" version of that description :P), they're sometimes better than "professional" publications, namely IGN :P.
Pretty much this. You would have thought that Uncharted 2 made them stand apart as developers. They put a lot of care into the finished product. Uncharted 2 was developed in 18 months they were able to do that much more over Uncharted 1 while delivering on their FIRST multiplayer third person shooter. Sigh, w/e people will continue to compare the games and claim that one is better than the other. I just know when the review embargo lifts, people on these forums will shut up about Uncharted's multiplayer being inferior. I think that both well be great. Uncharted 3's because of the intensity, the set pieces and interactive sequences, the variety in the gameplay (traversal moves, gun play, boosters, free flow like combat), the gameplay options (new game modes along with sudden death, overtime, etc), and the animations. Gears of War 3 because of the much needed intensity upgrade from GeoW 2 (nades, smoke, and lighting effects look amazing), gore, brutal kills, cool weapons, bots for offline and online gameplay and the ability to play the campaign co-op.I'll leave the graphics debate for everyone else right now.
My instincts are telling me that U3 will be the better game overall. I love both games, but from what I've seen, U3 is doing so much more. When you combine that with ND's ambition to top themselves, their goal to have the "premiere multiplayer game", along with the layer of polish they lather onto their games, I can't help but to think otherwise.

Yeah, man.
Also, I have knack for calling things (I think you do too :P). I just know good s*** when I see it.
For example, since 2006, I've correctly predicted Gamespot's GOTY & Competitive Multiplayer of the Year, along with the Interactive Achievement Awards at the DICE Summit every year! I don't want to brag, I'm just saying :P. And I get Metacritic averages pretty close as well.

Professional reviews seem to give the scores that are expected based on the hype and won't go over a 8 for a unhyped game or under 6 for a hyped one, it's really bad I hate using them, and they seem to talk alot more bs or atleast less noticeable bsPretty much this. I'm also going to call right now that Infamous 2 is going to put many of these hyped up games to shame in terms of pure fun gameplay. Even this is early for me saying something like this, but I feel like it. The mission creator + new diverse powers + new melee system + bosses/mini bosses and overall balance of everything pretty much establishes this. The new characters should mix things up from last game and the story should be solid. Why do people insist on comparing two games with nothing in common besides being in 3rd person. They are VERY different games and both with be great. The only people to get all upset about which one is better are people with only one console or the other instead of both. And yes, This is coming from a Sony fanboy.
I'm not upset at all lol, not big on covered based shooting, I just feel it's pretty obvious Uncharted 3 is going to be the better game, gears 3 just seems like a rehash with updated graphics where they improving on almost every aspect in Uncharted 3, also was getting annoyed with the arguments about graphics and I think I succeeded in drawing some attention away from which has better grassWhy do people insist on comparing two games with nothing in common besides being in 3rd person. Gameplay? Really? You really believe uncharted 2 is more fluid than gears of war?
Theres a reason even Gamebattles.com doenst have Uncharted 2 even LISTED as a possiblity to play.( dont even mention MLG) The online is crap and has NO BASIS OF SKILL. The game gets boring fast as the actual GUNPLAY is just crap...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVg-oi3ms3s&feature=related
Go to 25 seconds. NOW the actual player movement, graphics, envirments, etc are AMAZING... one problem, the gunplay and shooting is some of the worst ive ever seen in my life. How clunky does the game get up close?? ( very as ive played it) with extremely unbalanced gameplay upclose and awkward shooting far range.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2PWRuKRpEo
Compare it to THAT, now its obvious since the gears characters are much larger and camera is closer up that the gunplay actually works. Again lets not forget one of the most skill based weapons in all of gaming the Gnasher for gears of war which pretty much defines the multiplayer

edit try 2
gameplay is solely down to personal taste, the only things you can really measure are how well the mechanics work and come together, and both games deliever on that end so that leaves it to personal taste. There is no way to objectively measure the gameplay, somepeople will want to play UC3, some people will want to play Gears3
you don't seem to be debating but more imposing your belies, is it because you want to feel your choice is better or because your so insecure about it you need us to verify it for you?

Uncharted 2's close range gameplay isn't that great but let's not get ahead ourselves with Gears of War's recoilless spray down your trigger gunplay.Eh, I guess we'll see when both games are out. I've always preferred Gears to Uncharted, but I can see why someone would feel differently. Can't say I really agree with the TC. Taking something as subjective as personal preference and spinning it as fact seems a bit erroneous, if you ask me.
[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"]
[QUOTE="mD-"] He made a statement about two games that aren't out yet. If you want to base this argument on past games, we have Uncharted 2 which delivered one of the best single player campaigns out of any game this generation (most would argue top 5 at least). Most who have played both Gears of War 2 and Uncharted 2 would agree with me that Uncharted 2 had the better single player campaign overall. Then it had a solid multiplayer which was introduced for the first time into the Uncharted series and actually was fun. mD-
Except thats user opinion and only user opinion and I do love the fact that you some how seem to know the very thoughts and opinions of every one else enough to say every one else will agree with me.
Being a lemming I found Gears 2's single player superior. Doesn't change the fact that He is basing his argument on gameplay elements that have existed since the games first started therefor his argument is that since uncharted as a series has superior gameplay and the like and because uncharted 3 improves upon that superiority that means it will stomp gears 3.
In reality Uncharted 1 and 2 maintain a lower average of score therefor maintain inferiority when compared to gears of war as a series.
So Uncharted series+game reviews=lower average scores+Uncharted series+sales=lower sales=Inferior series to gears of war which has higher average score at gamespot AND metacritic as well as higher sales. More people enjoyed gears of war as a series...
Did you really think that Gears of War 2 campaign was better? Man, can't even give a PS3 game a little credit where it outshines pretty much every game in its genre. Uncharted 3 could be crowned the best game ever by every review publication and it wouldn't change your opinion about the series because it's:
1) A PS3 exclusive
2) Will likely sell less than Gears of War 3
A lot of those people who have enjoyed Gears of War probably don't know or care for Uncharted because they don't constantly look for information on the game and it's on the PS3, which is less popular in the US and the US is the main region that is upsessed with shooters.
I've never seen you, or any of the guys arguing against Gears 3 here give any xbox game any credit for anything. It's cool when you're hypocritical, but when someone else does it, you call foul.have any of you actually bothered to read beyond the title?momentum_godYes. You seem to believe your preference in things, are objective facts.

Uncharted 2's close range gameplay isn't that great but let's not get ahead ourselves with Gears of War's recoilless spray down your trigger gunplay. No, don't cave into this unfounded accusation. Uncharted 2 has very good feedback and provides great flexibility. It depends on how you play as well. You don't HAVE to aim down the sights. You can shoot from 360 degrees around you, while running away from an opponent. Or you can just spray while charging them. VERY satisfyng when you use it all depending on your situation. This freedom is extended by allowing you to switch from your left/right shoulder while ADS. Something Gears REALLY needs. This allows players more fairness and flexibility with tactical positioning. Too many times in Gears I've strafed to my left, and then instantly placed into a tactical disadvantage all because the camera is stuck to the right side of my character (while my opponent is on the right side of the wall, giving them the opportunity to see and shoot me before I can see them). The gunplay is very accessibe and varied in Uncharted 2, whether you're upclose or taking cover from a distance. Not to mentinon a fully controllable camera giving you the ability to survey the environment at all times.
Then the platforming adds another layer of verticality and situational awareness players must posses, as well as gaining tactical positions over objectives or enemies. When hanging from a ledge, you can shoot your gun, or throw a grenade, from any angle at 360 degrees (peeking is also an option). Next, the cover in Uncharted 2 is superior to most, if not all, games thanks to cover wrapping. Instead of having to completely remove yourself from cover, you can simply swing around the corner (simple button press) to the adjacent side of the cover object allowing you to escape gunfire or gain a tactial advantage. Then there are stealth attacks, and pulling / kicking others from ledges that you have to be aware of.
I describe the controls of Gears as if I am controlling a vehicle (there's forward, reverse, and steering); it's stiffer in general. When I play Uncharted 2 it feels like I'm playing with an actual human being with more control over my direction. There are simply more gunplay and manuverability options in Uncharted. Plain and simple. With these extensive options, players must learn to be wary of other players while at the same time execute their own commands. The more gameplay options players have at their disposal, then the more skill it takes (that's how games work in general). I'm not saying Uncharted requires more skill, or that the controls are better. I'm just stating facts.
No basis of skill? I could say the same thing about Gears (which isn't true for either game quite frankly). Anyone can play a game with no care for it what-so-ever and say inane things suchs as "its' bad because I say so". It's just hot air steaming from your bum.
Well Uncharted & Geow happen to be 2 of my fav series this gen... played all games and look forward to both sequels..
Personally I dont care which will look slightly better or which will be the better (overall game), cause am sure both games will be awesome...

anyways, gears has the better grass so its automatic win :P
So you've played both, eh? this thread is meaninglessBodyElitewhat this^^^^ guy said. / Thread.
Gears is and will always be a game that appeals to more core gamers plus there is just nothing like a Machine gun / Chainsaw combo.. Drake or who ever doesn't stand a chance against Marcus and the boyz ( oh and Gals :P ) and should just try to keep up with Lara Croft but even that may be too much. 8)
Uncharted 3 really needs some variety in its enemies and weapons, it (the series so far) really pales in comparison to Gears of War in that regard, you only have to compare the horde modes in both to see the difference.
GEars 3 has bots? yyyyeeeeesssssss!sts106mat
Can't wait to see how they changed horde for Gears 3.
