He isn't proud... he's nuts. He ragged on Mirror's Edge because there was "too much parkour" even though the game is designed to be a parkour simulator.

Almost everything he says! Case in point. He comes out and says "PC gaming is dead." Then when he gets ripped a new one he comes out and says that "PC gaming is 'abso-friggin-lutely' back." He spouts off his opinion and makes himself look like a fool time and time again.

Don't get me wrong, Cliffy B is a talented developer worthy of praise for his games, but for his personality? Not a chance. He asks a game that is more creative, unique, and artistically impressive then any game he will ever make to have more guns? That would completely dilute the experience of Mirror's Edge, which is all about NOT KILLING PEOPLE. I swear, some people STILL think Mirror's Edge is primarily a first-person shooter.

And in general, he's an ass. Still, I respect him more than fanboys because unlike most trolling fanboys, Cliff is a troll that can make millions off of a decent video game series.

Sorry I had to stop reading your post right there TC. Kojima is one of the most modest devs in the industry. He always talks down on his own creations while praising others. Even Cliffy was showing much respect for Kojima up until MGS4 released and poor Cliffy got a lil jealous.

If Kojima is a troll then Cliffy is King of the super trolls. The only dev I would compare Cliffy to is Itagaki. At least Itagaki had the best action title of all time under his belt at one point so that was understandable, but still...these devs need to make good games and mind their own.

You're sensationalizing what he said.

Cliffy said that he wanted to see more of the combat, because he thought it was important, mentioning that "even Mario had goombas". From what I've heard, there are actually parts of the game where you're required to eliminate groups of guards (not necessarily with guns, but...). This aspect was not one that the public had seen much of to this point. It makes sense that they'd primarily exhibit the first-person platforming (that's the game's central conceit), but people are drawing what they want to see from Cliffy's comments, instead of actually reading what he said. This sort of thing happens all the time to any remotely outspoken developer. Kojima is a great example of this. 

(And if you don't think Kojima is a troll, consider that Raiden in MGS2 is meant to represent the player, and think about what his opinion of you is). 

CliffyB has always been a brash, somewhat flamboyant developer, and the reasons behind that run much deeper than 'success going to his head' or anything like that (I mean, he made his name with Jazz Jackrabbit). But he's clearly a talent in the industry, and he's no small part of why Epic is one of the most successful independent developers out there.

But seriously, Britney Spears is really good at music and doesn't afraid of anything.

He makes superb games the only problem is that he talks before he thinks. Almost everything he says is blown up so I don't think he really mean too attack stuff all the time it's just his way of talking. He is more open than a lot of other devs and that sadly hurts him, he tries to stay a person and an individual instead of a PR machine like most developers.

Cliff is pretty cool. Most of the press just paintbrush him as a giant douche though. This is how Cliff really is.

I think the reason there is so much hate is becase is not what you think of when you think "Game Developer". I don't know if it's becase he could get laid if he went to a club and the haters can't or if because he's not fat balding or becauses he's not a 40 somthing Japanese develper that Credits himself at the end of the game as "Voice of GOD".

But, I could care less because as long as he makes good games he could wear a dress do some cock with Lohan and kill a kitten and I wouldn't care as long as Gears 3 is good.
