You sound like someone that's played and beat GoW3 ... oh wait you just said you played a little at your friends house :|

W1NGMAN-

I've played enough to know it plays just like the other 2. I've read the reviews ALSOCONFIRMING it does little new, and it's short.

Is it that hard for a lot of you people to accept someone does not think the sun shines out of Kratos' arse?

I just think it's funny that you're judging a game that you've yet to beat yourself. Sounds like you just don't like GoW in general, which is fine but at least try playing the game in it's entirety before saying it's "too short" and "too easy" ... and what's wrong with "simple"? I love that the GoW series has always been an easy franchise to pick up and play but on the harder difficulties challenging enough to add the extra layer of depth that GoW3 has.

Took me 12 hours on Titan to beat on my first playthrough, sounds about right for an action adventure game to me but hey I can base GoW3 on my own opinion, not on anothers ;)

I've already said i thought the GOW series wasn't all that ... I have made my own opinion albeit premature, but an opinion which is also backed up by several sources.

Simple action games have bored me since Dynasty Warriors ... They're just ... boring and samey. At least in Bayonetta i can mix it up with tons of othert moves, it has excellent depth on combat, GOW just doesn't.

I understand you like it, and i'm not debating that ... I'm stating that i dislike it, and why. It's not a bad game, just not great imo.

I thought GOD3 was a great game, I could say one of the best games this gen. For the people saying the game was to short even on titan mode and it's nothing more than a hack n slash I call lies. the game on normal is almost on par with ninja gaiden, let alone titan mode. I almost just gave up on normal while fighting Hades.

Saying you have a "premature opinion" is just a euphemism for "uninformed opinion." And you know what those are worth? Absolutely nothing. Go beat the game and then act like you have something to say. Until then it's just neglectful of the developers work.

I completely disagree with you on the graphics part. I played GOW 3 before UC2 and I wish i hadn't done that because right now I'm finding UC2 a bit boring. When i played the first part of UC2 I was comparing the graphics to GOW3 and i was thinking how better GOW 3 was. Playing Gow 3 has set me up to a new standard I think. When I saw the UC2 case (my brother borrowed it from a friend) on my PS3 a couple of days before GOW 3 release date i was so excited and i said im gonna finish the game in one day screw sleeping but after playing GOW3 I was expecting too much when i played UC2 i guess. But that's just me =P

I don't have to beat a game to have an opinion of it. Especially when the premature opinion i have has been backed up by every reviewer on the planet.

Opinions in general are worth nothing, dude, as much as you'd like to believe you're opinion is fact, it's not, it's just your opinion, just like mine is mine. You can deal with that complain more

That's a bummer TC. Hope the next GOW game doesn't disappoint you (or whatever Santa Monica does next).

---------

Here are your main points that I would like to talk about...

  • GRAPHICS: I agree that it's not the graphics king. There are times that the graphics look better than anything I've ever seen though. Uncharted and Killzone 2 look better for me. God of War 3 is by far the best looking game in it's genre and one of the best you'll find on the PS3. I think that's a testament to SM's efforts. Kratos def has one of the best character models 've ever seen. Maybe the best.
  • ANIMATIONS: WUH??? They are anything but dated and best in the genre IMO. Very fluid an the moves are just so freakin cool looking. There are very few clipping issues and animations quirks here and there though.
  • STORY: Wasn't the best in the series, but it was good. Kratos showed compassion and the ending was eye opening. I don't think this was a game that was meant to focus only on story. Look at other games in the genre though. The God of War franchise has a better storyline than Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and Ninja Gaiden.
  • GAMEPLAY: Well, I don't know what to say other than it's fun as ****. It's simple and challenging sure. But is simple a bad thing? It doesn't do anything new really, but it refines just about everything that the series has offered in the past (just like many of the games this gen).
  • Additions to the GOW franchise: Helios' head brings a new dynamic to fighting in dark lit areas, as well as uncovering hidden crates to level up, which are new gameplay mechanics for the franchise. The unprecedented scale of the titans, which is an upgrade for the franchise and the genre as a whole. Fire propagates to multiple enemies thanks to Appolo's Fire Bow, which is a new gameplay tactic for the franchise. There is now a very useful weapon wheel, which is a new gameplay mechanic for the franchise. The pacing is unlike any other GOW game. Adam Sessler also thinks it sets a new standard for pacing within video games. And it takes more strategy to fight enemies this time around. Play on Titan and you and you will def. see :). And lastly, it has an upgrade of badassery and brutality that we proabbly haven't seen in a video game :D.

--------

It shares the throne with Devil May Cry 1 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma (the first one). For me, its an action-adventure hack-n-slash king. I'm having a blast with this game!

Comparing it to Hack and Slash story standards, GOW 3 has a pretty good story. Right?

Probably the best.

When your main competition is Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, and Devil May Cry, it's not all that impressive. Like being the smartest thing in a room that also has a snake, a cockroach, and a dead cat in it.

True (and that's a funny comparison BTW lol). But I hope people who dog God of War's story find the same issue with Ninja Gaiden, DMC, and Bayonetta. Otherwise it'll just be terribly hypocritical.

With these games I hope people aren't expecting Mass Effect, Heav Rain, MGS4, and Bioshock quality story !

Oh, I know I do. Luckily, I don't play hack n' slash games for the story. Who knew? :P

What a shame. If you were to actually play through the whole game, you'd learn that the game offers a lot more depth in terms of combat compared to previous installments. That's pretty much the highlight of God of War III next to it's sound and visuals. The weapons and combat are really great, brutal, and it does indeed get complex when you are linking combos/weapon switching. I've done some pretty insane stuff..

[QUOTE="mitu123"] Yeah, I can live with that.

Hahadouken

glad we came to an agreement because in GOW standards that was far from a real boss.

? I guess we have different definitions of a boss fight then. :P A "boss" to me, is anything named, ie not a trash mob. The end boss in Demon's Souls is a joke who you can kill with like 3 hits, but he is still considered the final boss.

reminds me of the so called final boss in Halo 3. I dont consider it a boss...more of a "sequence"
