See...here's the thing.
It doesn't happen often, yet you keep seeing it.
It's not something you can touch or smell. Eyes only. Stuff like that. Fire in the sky. No,not really.
But in the end..Why wouldn't you buy a pc?

Its definitely a good time, Steam Summer Sale is later this month and usually the end of a generation is when PC titles shine best over aging console hardware.
I'm getting annoyed with how bad console graphics are now, so I've been considering switching to PC gaming by the time AC3 and Hitman come out. (And then I'd be able to play GTA V and Watch Dogs on PC when they come out later.) But to build a PC I'd probably have to sell my PS3/games and my MacBook Pro. And then my concern is that the PS4 will come out with amazing graphics and games (Uncharted, God of War, Gran Turismo) and I'll wish I was back on consoles!
So... should I just deal with the relatively bad graphics and stick to consoles, or switch to PC and hope I can either live without PS4 or that I have more money by then?
apollo333
My suggestion is to not buy a PC for graphics.
When you play a multiplat on PC the only really great thing is playing in 1080P. The exclusives suck. Starcraft 2, World of Warcraft. It's hard to tell because Hermits hype up garbage games like Metro 2033 but PC got no games kinda like 360.
Pray_to_me
Truth Pc gaming would be useless without multiplats.

Civ 5, WoW, Flight sims, RTS (Starcraft, C&C), Jagged Alliance, Planetside 2, Diablo 3
So yeah there's interesting stuff on PC
Wasteland 2 alone is worth building a PC for, I hope it comes out good.
Multiplats in fact are the weakest aspect to PC's because most of them aren't designed for the PC, the controls and FOV don't feel right, you have 108 buttons and they make you use a power wheel. Botched ports. Having to buy from Origin or GFWL (yuck)
Every time I play games on PC I feel like I need to shower to take the DRM out of my ass.
PC fanboys play up amazing graphics and 60fps but sometimes you buy a game it'll crash during the intro, or crash every 20 minutes and you're sitting there messing with drivers.
PC gaming is worth it but NOT for the multiplats as a large percentage are botch jobs.
BF3 might have better graphics on PC but the hit detection is broken and it's overrun by people who spawn camp or use hax.
At least on PS3 when you shoot somebody in the head, he dies.

All lies and hyperbole, most multiplats run better and have great controls, plus maybe the FOV "doesn't feel right" because you are used to the tunnel vision sh*t FOV on consoles and aren't used to TRUE widescreen FOV's...STFU troll.

What PC multiplats do you play?O_oIt is a good time but your rig may become outdated and the same goes for the video card thus replacing it from time to time. Which can be a problem.

Shut your hole noob.
FOV "doesn't feel right" because they develop games for console as the lead platform, and don't bother changing anything when they port it.

But the best thing about PC are the exclusives, better multiplats is just another bonus.
What PC multiplats do you play?O_o
mitu123
I have about 2000 PC games sitting on various hard drives
Some of the ones that gave me problems were Borderlands, Red Alert 3, C&C 3, Splinter Cell DA, couple others

PC has more games, and the best version of every multiplat ....
So both wins with PC.
PC doesnt win in simplicity though. Will your game work with your graphics card? Do you have enough memory?Do you like trying to get a gamepad working? Do you like playing by yourself OR do you prefer splitscreen fun "which to me is better than online"....PC is good..but its not for everyone. Some people like messing with things and figuring out WHY their game isnt working...SOME people just like to put a disc in, and play..9/10 there WILL BE something to figure out when gaming on PC.
But the best thing about PC are the exclusives, better multiplats is just another bonus.

Meh
Better multiplats is kind of a joke.
I don't use the term "exclusive" that's console kiddie speak.
Games developed specifically for the PC tend to be very good and usually have 1000x the depth of console ports.
Check out Eve Online, you'll never look at gaming the same way.

If you have a competent ($1.5-2k) PC donalbane
What? "competent" is around $600-$800, $2K is almost completely unnecessary for any single monitor PC, 1.5K is probably the most you will pay, my Dad's GTX 680 rig was less than $1.5K.

If your graphics card isn't ancient or non gaming dedicated than it should work
enough memory if you can count and read than you'll know you whether you have enough or not
do you like playing by yourself or do you prefer splitscreen fun? You can get both,
SC2 is great. D3 is pretty good. You also have a backlog of 20+ years worth of games to play. When you play a multiplat on PC the only really great thing is playing in 1080P. The exclusives suck. And consoles wouldn't?? Especially 360... Yep, so true! It's not a problem. If you get a decent card now, like, say, the 7850, you won't have to upgrade for a long time.It is a good time but your rig may become outdated and the same goes for the video card thus replacing it from time to time. Which can be a problem.

True that but then comes the cost, unless you know what you are doing.:D
Well, I did it; I ordered all the parts for a new PC!
i5 3570k, 8GB, GTX 670, 60GB SSD + 2TB HDD. There were good deals on almost every part except the video card, and I saved some $$ not needing a case, monitor, keyboard or mouse. Parts list if anyone is interested:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ag22
I can't wait to see my steam games with maximum graphics at 1080p, instead of 720p at minimum settings for this MacBook Pro's poor video card!
P.S. Anyone want a MBP? 2009, 2.26GHz Core2 Duo, 4GB RAM, nVidia 9400m, $600... perfect for gaming! :D

I just don't want this guy to try to start up his computer and have his CPU fry within the 5 seconds it would take.
