Oh boy, the PSP is in trouble. Some remakes of popular JRPG released some time ago! The PSP doesn't have any of those.

I'm curious to see how well these will sell in Japan. I admit that I'm a tad lazy to look at what FF3 sold like in Japan.

I know the reviews were a bit luke-warm as FF3 was nothing new to japanese gamers.

So in other words, I'm not certain how these games are going to put the PSP in a more dire position. People should be more worried about the software titles that are aimed at non-gamers. The recipe carts and household chore planners are doing pretty good and are helping separate the DS from the PSP just as well as anything else.

Well it did fail to live up to the hype it had before relase but besides that it's an all around good handheld but none of the games really interested me. (I'm not saying the games aren't good but that they don't appeal to me)

Not true. It comes in 3rd every month. Outselling PS3, 360, and GBA. It's only going to sell more with games like Crisis Core, Dissidia, and Monster Hunter Freedom 2. It's long from dead. Note: It it also has more AAA, AA, and A's here on GS. :)

Even as a DS Owner, I have to disagree with the OP. The DS sales are driven by the casual market; these are games the majority of DS users will never purchase. Yes, they will probably sell well. But PSP Killer? No chance. God of War for the PSP will outsell any of the Dragon Quest games ... maybe all of them.chrth

Yea... right... :roll: Dragon Quest games sell over a million copies in Japan alone, and sell decently for an RPG in the US. Accordign to vgcharts.com, MGS: PO hasn't even hit platinum yet, and that was suppose to be the PSP's "super-killer ap!" VGcharts may not be exact, but they are VERY good at their estimates.

However, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker, a SPIN-OFF, has sold over a million copies in Japan alone. If it isn't obvious, software doesn't sell nearly as well on the PSP as the DS.

I wouldn't be surprised if each of those DQ games outsold God of War in Japan alone.

It's known as Dragon Warrior in North America (well, it was. They've named it Dragon Quest worldwide for a while now.) If you haven't heard of Dragon Warrior than you can't call yourself a gamer.

Besides even if there is not enough good games (even though in my opinion there is plenty) psp is not justfor playing gamesit has a multitude of uses. I go online with it and use it as a mp3 and store pics and everything on it. It's just so much better, most ds games arent even 3D!

First of all, God of War will be a MUCH bigger draw than DQ. Second, the PSP has numerous great games coming out for it. Third, the DS and PSP really go after different markets. Did you just wake up in 2007 because everyone knows the graphics for the ds is inferior to the psp. And besides since when did having good graphics on a handheld makes the game more better? I yet the two systems that happen to outsell it are inferior in hardware to their competitors and one is still sold out world wide, just goes to show you how poorly the other next gen consoles are selling if 2 handhelds and 2 consoles (PS2 and Wii), both ofwhich have inferior hardware, are beating out the others.

And for those who think I am a fanboy, people who bother to read may have noticed that in some of my past posts that I have considered getting a PSP for a few games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Silent Hill Origins, but the cows who think the PSP has a far better lineup need to stop kidding themselves. Yes there are some good games coming but not nearly as many as what the DS is getting and there is a lot more original content coming to the DS as well.

Nope, not unless you played DQ 4 on the NES, cause 5 and 6 were for the SNES and never got released in North America or Europe. I dont really like the idea of Square Enix remaking certain games but since most of the world missed out on two Dragon Quest games, I do not understand why people would not want to play them if they enjoy the franchise. Also the fact that they are remakes will make the game play entirely new. I played DQ 1-3 on the NES as well as the Gameboy versions, honestly the remade versions were so much better and far easier to play because the graphics actually made things stand out. Same goes for FF 1 & 2, played them both on the NES and GBA, the GBA versions were better. I did not like the other Final Fantasy games for the GBA besides Tactics Advanced which was loads of fun, so a sequal is another must buy for me.

A few of the Dragon Quest games have never been released outside of Japan, DQ Monsters Caravan Hearts for the GBA was released in Japan only which sucks, same goes for DQ 5 & 6. So seeing games like that over here without importing and learning Japanese is good for us gamers.

The PSP is already gone. It has been gone since the Lite came out.

The PSP has a huge hole in its software of absolute, must-have titles. It has a LOT of good titles, but none that are absolutely worth the purchase, and defining games for the console.

The DS has it when it comes to the software. That's that. It has a handful of games that are essential to own if you have the system, and it's got the hardware and software sales to prove it.

Fact is, people will spend their money if they think a product is worth it. People don't think the PSP is worth it. That's something some of the few PSP fanboys will have to come to grips with. Though the PSP has tons of quality games, in the eyes of the public (which is a huge mass of people from all different spectrums), the PSP isn't worth it. Play it if you like it, but don't pretend it's better.
