Where's Viva Pinata? That's going to sell a lot on DS :Plinkhero1

A game consisting of nothing but blowing up balloons with the mic would sell a lot on the DS. A game where you had to shave your grandma's armpits would sell a lot on the DS. Anything would sell well on the DS.

Seriously I could care less about kiddie crap like that. Besides, isn't that more of a 360 thing? I wish developers would stop putting garbage like that on the DS and make real games instead of games based off crummy TV shows and kids movies or toys.

The PSP is already gone. It has been gone since the Lite came out.

The PSP has a huge hole in its software of absolute, must-have titles. It has a LOT of good titles, but none that are absolutely worth the purchase, and defining games for the console.

The DS has it when it comes to the software. That's that. It has a handful of games that are essential to own if you have the system, and it's got the hardware and software sales to prove it.

Fact is, people will spend their money if they think a product is worth it. People don't think the PSP is worth it. That's something some of the few PSP fanboys will have to come to grips with. Though the PSP has tons of quality games, in the eyes of the public (which is a huge mass of people from all different spectrums), the PSP isn't worth it. Play it if you like it, but don't pretend it's better.

"Pretend" it's better? Haven't you heard of something called opinion? I like PSP games way more than DS games, DS games just don't appeal to me. PSP sold nearly 300k last NPD, alot of people think it's worth it, software sales may not be on DS level, but DEVs are somehow making profit off it, and that's why we'll keep seeing great PSP games. The PSP attach ratio in NA is 4 games for each unit.

Have you ever played Viva Pinata? It will sell well on the ds. Wow Pokemon is a crummy tv show and oh don't they have movies too? But the games don't suck on handhelds. No wonder why lots of people hate sheep.

Are these the Dragon Quest games I have already played translated versions of?

If so then how are those killer apps? Nothing fresh, it's nothing new.

DSgamer64

Nope, not unless you played DQ 4 on the NES, cause 5 and 6 were for the SNES and never got released in North America or Europe. I dont really like the idea of Square Enix remaking certain games but since most of the world missed out on two Dragon Quest games, I do not understand why people would not want to play them if they enjoy the franchise. Also the fact that they are remakes will make the game play entirely new. I played DQ 1-3 on the NES as well as the Gameboy versions, honestly the remade versions were so much better and far easier to play because the graphics actually made things stand out. Same goes for FF 1 & 2, played them both on the NES and GBA, the GBA versions were better. I did not like the other Final Fantasy games for the GBA besides Tactics Advanced which was loads of fun, so a sequal is another must buy for me.

A few of the Dragon Quest games have never been released outside of Japan, DQ Monsters Caravan Hearts for the GBA was released in Japan only which sucks, same goes for DQ 5 & 6. So seeing games like that over here without importing and learning Japanese is good for us gamers.

I've played translated versions of those games, on a handheld that's not the DS.

I'm not missing anything.

I havn't played a DS game yet that is 'must have'... ds only owners like to feel superior and thats fine.

...but the psp isn't goint anywhere especially since MHF2 is comming out next month in the states and the promises of games that rival last gen console games being screened in every public setting (FF:CC, GoW, FF: diss.).

Will it outsell the DS? Prolly not... but it dosn't have to as long as its numbers stay where they are now sony can pull a profit every year and make a new system to compete yet again for the handheld market that Nintendo has dominated for all these years.

Final Fantasy has had far more iterations and remakes in it's lifetime than Dragon Quest, that is why it has sold more. If there were 13 Dragon Quest games in the main series and a whole bunch of spinoffs then it would sell as much. Maybe we should have a recap of how many games each franchise has put out.

Final Fantasy - There are roughly 40 games that are just from the main series and the spin offs, this does not include collections or compilations

Dragon Quest - 8 main games and7spin offs. The game spinoffs are Dragon Quest Monsters 1, 2, Caravan Heart and the upcoming title Joker which will be here in NA in November. The others are the 3Torneko Mystery Dungeon games, Dragon Quest Swords and Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime.

I honestly got sick of Pokemon after Gold and Silver which are still the best in the series imo.

The thing is PSP sales have no significant impact on DS sales. DS has such a broader appeal than the PSP can claim that it doesn't matter what the PSP does. The PSP was said to broaden the market but it was the DS that did and that is evident by the fact it is nearing 50 million worldwide. It was such a success that it makes the PSP look horrible in comparision and since Sony's goal was to be the Dominiant force for handhelds it has failed. It is not a failure because it sells well it is just that it can't be compared to the DS which is the king of all consoles whether they are handheld or not.

well we all HAVE to admit the psp will never catch up to the ds.

but its far from dead, and although it doesnt hold my taste of games at all, they're are still plenty of games that appeal to that general audience.
