Gosh current consoles SUUUCK

Recently I was thinking of buying PS4, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I am PC gamer, so assess consoles by their exclusive lineup. So far, the only PS4 exclusive that interests me is Bloodborne. I had tried to think of something else interesting and currently available on PS4, and I couldn't come up with anything. Seriously guys, what the hell, compared to PS3 PS4 sucks balls. Yeh I know that Last Guardian, Uncharted 4, and Horizon are coming probably next year. The thing is, I did math in my head and was shocked how slowly exclusives are being released this Gen. I mean, cool Uncharted 4 is coming next year, but when Uncharted 5 is scheduled to be released ? In 2018 or something ? Isn't it when the current Gen basically ends ?

On PS3 we had had Uncharted 1,2,3 and Last of Us all in one Gen.

What is the deal with PS4 ? We will only have ONE single Uncharted this Gen, and for Uncharted 5 you will have to buy PS5, is it ?

So what is the reason to buy PS4 then, if at best we are going to have only 6 worthy exclusives for the entire Gen. And right now there is like only ONE noteworthy exclusive, Bloodborne. This is it.

I'm just going to assume you did zero research. There isn't much in the way of exclusives for PS4 at the moment but they are all coming. Persona 5, Disgaea 5, Everybody's Gone To The Rapture (out now actually), Until Dawn out in a week or two, Horizon, Uncharted Trilogy, U4, Nier 2 etc etc there's a ton of stuff coming.

Of course, none of it may interest you which is fair enough but that doesn't make the PS4 crap in any way at all.

You said mobile is a good replacement for consoles. Your argument is invalid.

So stick to PC then would probably be your best bet. Even if I bought multiplats on PC, for me personally there are more PS4 exclusives that interest me.

Doesn't everyone with rant post have short term memory only? The ps3 had a nasty drought before the games started releasing too. Ps3/360 gen also dragged on way too long 05/06-13 jeezus.

PS4/X1 is better than pc gaming, just look at batman. Pc's usually get console ports.

@blueinheaven: I don't care about 80 % of what you listed. Please don't list remakes. Disgae at this point is just a copy paste of all previous Disgae installments, I played them more than enough at this point. I never bothered to finish Persona 4, so Persona 5 flares up my interest only slightly. So so far, it's only U4, Horizon, Bloodborne, maybe Last Guardian, and this is it. I can hardly justify a console purchase with only 4 games.

I listed one remaster (Uncharted Trilogy) which is an amazing deal for anyone who hasn't played them. All the other stuff I listed I will be buying, can't wait in fact.

PS4 is struggling to get first-party and third-party exclusive to market as quickly as gamers would like , yeah it's not a crappy console but to most of PC gamers it is

It depends on the PC gamer. My PC is a multi plat machine to me at the moment, most of the exclusives are shitty indies I couldn't give a toss about or just genres like RTS which I've grown out of. In fact the only 'genre' on PC that grabs me at the moment if you can call it a genre is Kickstarter RPG's which are basically digging up what used to be what made PC gaming the best a long, long time ago like Divinity OS, Pillars etc.

I get that a lot of PC gamers won't be swayed by current gen consoles they're taking way too long to produce must-have exclusives but for me PC is in the same boat, the main attraction being superior multiplats.

Yeah OP, I'm with you. The consoles this gen are just so totally devoid of games to play.

I'm a PC gamer too. On PC we have entire genres that just don't exist on consoles; real-time strategy games, grand strategy games, MOBAs. Most of the indie games that come out are exclusive to PC, which is where most of the original ideas come out. We get the best version of most of the multi-plats. Every single week there seems to be dozens of new things to play on PC.

Then I look at PS4 and Xbone and there's just... Nothing. Like, there are a handful of games, and some of them look okay. Bloodbourne is the only one I want to play really badly, but I can't justify paying for a console for one good game.

The rest of the games are just these garbage cinematic AAA games that all look the same. All of the cool experimental stuff is on PC, where you've got the best community, best hardware (if you choose to) and best software.

Even if you've got a crappy old PC you have access to 30 years of amazing games, literally thousands of titles. The modern consoles aren't even backwards compatible. I can play my PS2 games on my shelf on my PC but I wouldn't be able to play them on a Playstation 4 console; Sony wants me to rebuy the games I already own for that privilege. You kidding me? I'll stick with my PC, thanks.

Let this be a little perspective, the Dreamcast launched with more exclusive games than what both of these consoles combined have nearly two years into their life cycles, it is downright pathetic.

I feel the same this gen. I'm a PC gamer, last gen I had all the consoles and felt that I got value out of all them. This gen I only have the Wii U for wife and kid and the other two have given me almost no incentive to buy.

@MuD3: I'm a PC guy. The Wii U is the only system that has anything that looks fun. Stuff like Bayonetta 2, The Wonderful 101 and the old go-to Nintendo franchises all have been consistently good. Nintendo tends to focus on gameplay and fun.

PS4 and Xbone have these weird cinematic games that focus on storytelling. The problem is, these games never have a good story. It's really, really pathetic to see people praise a game like The Last of Us, where every character and plot point is a cliche matched to the tone of The Walking dead. It's a generic cover based shooter like every other one, but everyone praises the story because apparently they've never seen a decent movie. Even when they try to make something fun, like Sunset Overdrive, it comes off as this kinda pathetic, poser "trying-too-hard" thing, designed by old men to appeal to children and failing miserably.

Yea I just went through this, got a free TV while I had been budgeting to buy one. I figured I would spend that money on a console, but yea, Bloodborne is literally the only console exclusive that I genuinely wanted to play. So I decided to save the money for something more worthwhile.

Then I went drinking after work last week and impulsively bought one on the way home. Bloodborne is great, but I'm sure once I finish it'll gather dust for a while. I don't even like Naughty Dog games that much. I bought Destiny as well because it was on sale for 10 bucks and friends have been hassling me to play it, but I don't have high hopes.

I'm banking on Read Dead 2 being announced a console exclusive to curb the incoming buyers remorse.

So now I am saying this as someone who just bough a PS4 a week ago: Current gen consoles don't have shit when it comes to decent exclusives. I don't know how cows manage to be so zealous when it comes to defending the platform.

I was thinking about upgrading my PC, but since there hasn't been a recent exclusive GOTY in the last decade+, I have decided to wait till it is worth it. when Star Citizen comes out I may upgrade, but even then it doesn't seem like it will be a 10/10 exclusive, pc just cant seem to ever get those.

recent steam surveys show must users game under 1080 and now there's even new tools to check for at least 30fps. Seems like consoles is they way to go this gen. PC is a good second or third system to own, especially if you like flash FB games or mmos.

You're really holding off on getting the system with the most good games and the best EVERYTHING because it didn't make Gamespot's GOTY list? Gamespot's reviewers kinda don't know what they're talking about in most cases...

I think for people who only play consoles, they are happy with the jump from last gen to this gen. If you are a serious PC gamer, you can't help but feel disappointed with how weak the current gen consoles are and how little evolution and innovation there has been in games.

I have a gaming PC, but if you want the best games made as per multiple critics across the board, you need consoles to play them.

@Heil68: Most critics are too stupid and don't have the skill to play something like Dwarf Fortress, which is probably the most technically impressive game I've ever played and it's entirely text based. Indie games consistently offer unique experiences, like dune buggy soccer (rocket league) or Lovecraft Football Manager (Darkest Dungeon) and all sorts of other stuff. I'll take those games any day over The Last Of Us, which was an incredibly dull, cliche experience. It was hilarious that people called TLOU original, when it was just "every zombie movie ever with mushrooms." The Arkham games and Shadows of Mordor and Far Cry and every other big ticket series are just these dull, monotonous products designed by large teams to appeal to a broad, dumb audience.

So basically what I'm saying is that consoles are for dumb people, and since sites like this one write reviews to generate ad revenue from as broad of a consumer base as possible, the general consensus of critics can only be used to determine which games are the most average.

Hey, sometimes there's a really good mainstream game. The Witcher 3 was pretty great despite its faults, but then you have garbage like Watch Dogs and Skyrim that are designed for drooling morons.

So you know, play on consoles if you want a mediocre blockbuster game once a month. Or, play on PC so you can play tons of new and unique games that have something 200 million USD budgets can't buy: Heart.

Yeh I will check reviews for it. But so far I have an impression that it's like TellTale's Walking Dead but with better graphics and about a serial killer, and preposterous 60 dollars at launch for a TellTale-style game.

I'm actually using my PS4 at the moment, it makes for a great video streaming device. I spent £400 on a glorified streaming box!

Decent enough versions of multiplats on relatively inexpensive hardware and the odd exclusive here and there... or just Bloodborne.

Probably seems like an awesome console if you don't own a PC.

As of right now I have only a few reasons to hold on to my PS4.

-Bloodborne.

-Persona 5 (the 5th entry in a series I've never tried, but wiling to give it a shot.)

-Dragon Quest XI (admittedly boring games at times, but I still managed to get hooked.)

- The Last Guardian (development hell - the game. Just hoping for the best.)

- Uncharted 4 (Never really cared for these games, but willing to check it out.)

And damn. I really thought I had more to look forward to than that. Probably forgetting something, but yeah, slim pickings either way. It's all perspective though. As a console, the PS4 is doing its job and doing it well. It just so happens that having boat loads of exclusives is quickly becoming a relic and having a PC negates the majority of the PS4/Xbone libraries.
