@BassMan: PC gamers play the same crappy AAA game than consol gamers ... they just have a more polish turd than consol gamers. Evolution and innovation ? there is none on both PC and Consol for a very long time.

I don't think everything going to the PC was a good thing. I mean it's great for us, but we used to get consoles for the games that weren't on the PC. And now we just have less of a reason to pick up consoles.

Yeah, the PS5 isn't exactly around the corner.

Once Xbone and PS4 had their early droughts the games will start coming.

We still have to see so much stuff from both MS and Sony studios, the coming years will be great.

I agree that this gen is weak sauce though when it comes to consoles. So few titles of worth, those that are coming are mostly re-hashes or sequels and most still don't run at a decent resolution or frame rate. Graphics, sound and gameplay are stuck in the previous gen because none of the consoles can handle decent VR or AR, although they will see it in a limited form. Oh well, I guess it's nice for console gamers to see what it was like having a PC in 2009.

The gaming industry is enormous. Over the course of last generation it has become an extremely casual affair. We are on a gaming website so of course most will see it differently here, but in reality the general ps4/xbox audience don't give a sht about exclusive numbers etc etc.

Nintendo was not bullshitting when they said they don't believe they are in competition with sony and microsoft. There's some crossover, of course, but the wiiu is more of a niche console at this point. A different audience seeks the experiences on that console.

Yeah, but the start of that generation (6th) was November 1998 (Dreamcast) until November 2005 (Xbox 360). The next generation (7th) was November 2005 (Xbox 360) until November 2012 (Wii U)

OP is on the mark. This has been a pretty abysmal console generation. Shit games everywhere and LESS than a handful of truly worthy games (you know it's bad when the U has more great games than the rest). I'm pretty bummed it turned out so poorly and I won't be buying another generation of consoles. It seems that PC is where it's at for me.

Well, at least people are starting to realize how much cinematic games suck, for that alone this console generation has the potential to be better then the past one at some point.

I stressed more with the drought of games on the ps3 just b.c all the multiplats came later. 360 did alright, but I was mentioning how the gen stretched out pretty long too.

Seriously though does everyone have long term memory loss? Give me ps2 gen anyday, I was surrounded by games I want when I got it a year or two in. Did you forget its infamous moniker "waitstation 3" go google it. Also I know this firsthand since I had the ps3 2 months in its life span and the thing practically became a ps2/bluray player for a while.

Well, you may figure out that xbox sucks because I didn't even consider to buy it. Why bother if most of xbox one exlusives will probably end up on PC.

There is a thread like this once a week. You would think hermits would have something better to do, like playing all those pc exclusive games on their 4k monitors. At least make a thread with some content like a table that compares what came out on previous gen consoles in the same time frame etc to prove your point. It would greatly help the quality of future threads.

Console manufacturers sell their hardware based on hype now. Not delivering actual content.

Both consoles have pretty solid lineups for the near future. Xbone edges out PS4 for the end of 2015 and 2016 IMO, though if Persona 5 is as good as I hope that may change.

Either way, the consoles have definitely not bee up to par up until now. Though, the WiiU has had some great releases.

To each his own. I can't stand PC gaming. Never an exclusive worthwhile. And the ones worthwhile end up on consoles. Look at The Forest, Orcs Must Die, Planetside 2, Guantlet, Divinity Original Sin, Wasteland 2, etc. Yet, I can play Zelda, Mario, Halo, Crackdown, Uncharted, Forza, Sunset Overdrive, etc. all exclusively on the Consoles. Ridiculous argument as there are plenty of exclusives worthwhile. But to each his own.

Thing is though not a single thing you've listed seems interesting. I know, I know to each his own. But Damn where the **** is the originality out of 5 of 6 games you've mentioned. It's 2015 why the hell are people still getting excited for zelda, mario, halo and uncharted?.

First off TC it is awefully hard to judge the quality of any piece of hardware that you do not have extensive experience with.

With that said though, having had a PS4 since launch, yeah it is pretty abysmal IF you own either a PC or an X1. And lets not fool ourselves, both the PS4 and X1 are pathetically weak, anyone claiming otherwise are either ignorant or blind fanboys.

However there is some merit to a thing such as the PS4. There are some rather unique games on it and coming for it, mostly Japanese games. Which kind of justifies it.

There is a few points about the logic that is correct, The PS4 is relatively expensive for mostly nothing, most games are multiplats, the PS4 does not exactly handle the majority of games well. So any mid range PC would outperform it, and have near no negatives in the process.

However! for people only wanting a single device for gaming, for casual gamers, and for people who are not too technical (not kidding, ever looked at the backside of the PS4? you'd have to be from the stone age, not to set that thing up within 10 minutes).

In those cases the PS4 IS worth it. I know people who almost has a mental breakdown when using a PC, and even though it is easier then ever to game on a PC, some people still recoil, others simply work in front of a PC for many hours and would prefer not to when gaming. For those there is merit.

So it is a question about the consumer, not the medium. The PS4 is made for a specific kind of consumer, just like GPUS are. No one buys a console for the performance, it has always been the ease of use (and last gen being an abnormality in raw power when they released). Exclusives this gen have been abysmal on consoles that is true, outside of Ninty, it seems that everyone else forgot the word, for better or worse. But Deception 4, Persona 5, the odd Japanese obscure game, those are what could be a reason to own a PS4 (that and I needed a Blu-Ray player).

It's more sensible to count a system's lifespan until it is replaced by a successor.

The Dreamcast was dead only a couple of years out the door and the PS2 lasted about 6 years while the Gamecube lasted 5 and the Xbox went on for 4 years.

5-6 years is the average.

The reason last gen lasted so long was because of how much money both Microsoft and Sony lost and how the economy was doing very badly.

So basically you have to buy all 3 consoles to experience there games that can hold up and while some PC games do show up to the consoles you end up waiting for the inferior versions. While PC loses exclusives the amount of devs support easily makes up for it.

And why is it that a PC game is only worthwile when it comes to console. Gauntlet, Orcs must die, Divinity franchises/developers ain't no strangers to consoles.

Just stick with the PC. Its the best in the end, You need a console that doesn't have any PC love. PC and Nintendo are a great couple.

I was saying that they both suck around its early years. Why are you trying to argue against a point that I wasn't even making anyway? I wasn't comparing its life span just the same time frame from launch.

Personally I'll take ps2 near its launch, it was flooded with games that I wanted to play while having a shorter prime time life.

We haven't heard anything from Sucker Punch since Second Son, Naughty Dog is taking an unusually long time with U4, Insomniac is no longer PS exclusive (Ratchet next year though). Media Molecule has Dreams coming and Gurriella Games has Horizon. Santa Monica, Sony Bend and Polyphony Digital have been quiet.

It's only been 2 years since the start of the console generation, dude. How many games were out on the PS3 just 2 years after launch? Think about it.

Also, lol, you act like the PS4 is the only console. You literally named the console with the least amount of quality exclusives. The internet has got you whipped. Be a gamer, not a fanboy. Otherwise... have fun playing your no games on your one platform.

A gen lasts for roughly 7-8 years..

Usually a game like Uncharted takes 2 years. You wanting them to come in faster is ridiculous and makes me question your age. Humans can only jump so high remember. You just basically asked a human to jump over a 2 story building. Why ?

I noticed this as well, but hopefully 2018 isn't the end of the current console generation. Sony also supported the PS3 with good exclusives for longer than Microsoft supported the XBOX

Yes, this gen sucks. But I think pretty much everyone knows that already. It's probably the weakest batch of consoles vs the time they released ever. Both Sony and MS seemed to have been influenced by Nintendo's approach when making these machines. They didn't go as far as Nintendo does with that mindset, but were influenced by it nonetheless.
