The prologue of Witcher 2 has been more satisfying than Skyrim as a whole, i'd have to say.

The combat is actually good, and the graphics are great, as is the art style.

They're both RPG's but one's open world and the other isn't, kinda hard to compare.

They're both totally different games. Skyrim is all about an open-world, unrestricted RPG where you decide how to play. Witcher 2 is about action and combat and storyline. It's unfair to compare the two.

I think Skyrim mops th floor with The Witcher 2. The Witcher 2 wasn't bad, but it was a massive letdown.

Not the same game but I'd much, much rather play Witcher 2 over Snorerim.

To be honest i prefer knowing where i have to go, not being told "Ok you decide" i sometimes felt lost as in Skyrim i just sort of roamed around with no real objective, just a list of things i could, if i wanted, do but hey i had fun till past level 35 so who's complaining. TW2 seems like a far more combat based and story based games with no real freedom. I would prefer that to be honest.

Bananas and apples taste different, but nobody has a problem with my preference of bananas.

Witcher 2 can be a more enjoyable game than Skyrim even if it's not open world. It's not like we can only make comparisons between games with 100% identitical gameplay.

Skyrim feels like a last gen game compared to The Witcher 2. It's not even close.

The Witcher 2 is one of the best games of this generation.

I'm a huge Bethesda fan. I loved all of their games. Skyrim was good, but I lost interest really fast. I haven't even finished the main quest. The Witcher 2 on the other hand was a completely refreshing and captivating game. The story is amazing (minus the ending), the characters are interesting, and the combat is very good for a RPG game.

What an oxymoron.

Why can't you have an unrestricted RPG?

The ability to choose any role without penalty, without environmental/NPC restrictions, defeats the purpose of role-playing.

Bad news then, the prologue is the best part lol.

Really though it's a totally different kind of RPG so I don't know why you would compare them directly.

The Witcher 2 was a letdown. My main problem was how cinematic heavy the game was. I read somewhere that the game had over 2 and a half hours of cutscenes. That's just too much. Do people really want to spend so much time watching boring cutscenes rather than actually play the game?

Becuase that would enable one to adopt multiple roles, butchering the diversity of player-styles (and hence the choices you choose upon your character would lack meaning).

Nope. The majority is rather boring. The first game handled cutscenes way better. They were far between and actually felt like rewards to the player. In the sequel the feeling is exact the opposite. They are a pain since they're used so excessively.

Completely different games but yeah TW2 is a pretty badass game, You're preaching to the choir here on SW
