I don't think IW is doing anything in regards to the name. It's more likely Activision trying to create two IPs instead of one to make more money.

It really is fiscally reasonable. Imagine a similar situation for MF as CoD. Having two devlopers work on each IP, would boost sales significantly.

MW2 is going to be amazing. Great team behind it, great start with MW1 and a great following.

I hope to god that they dont put the riot shields into the multiplayer or the ones in single player dont make the game easier than mario kart like in R6 Vegas 2.

I dunno guys I don't find the trailer that exciting. Graphically it only looks slightly better than COD4, they've just added a ton of vehicles and a bad guy that uses a voice box to talk haha. I'm a huge fan of COD4 but I think I will need to see the game in action before even considering this as a decent FPS, let alone game of the year. COD4 was brilliant for a few reasons and after playing Killzone, Modern Warfare 2 has a lot to live up to. Besides, if we all judged a game by the cutscenes then everyone on this website would be in love with MGS4 and Heavy Rain ;)Jrfanfreak88

Nah, I will probably be skipping out on this one until I can buy it on the cheap used next year or something. Too many other higher priority games on my list this fall/winter. I only plan on picking up maybe 2-3 first person shooters for the rest of the year anyway and this is not one that I am particularly anticipating all that much, if at all.

COD4 SP was meh. Its mainly cause alot of people said the it was good and the characters were interesting. While it was fun the story and characters sucked ALOT. Im not going to be with MW2.

Perhaps it is because I didn't play the first one, but that trailer didn't do anything for me.

Yes, the series is being milked by Activision. Does that mean this is "the same game" as CoD 4? No. It has a different campaign, and the multiplayer has new weapons, maps, and perks, plus vehicles (I'm pretty sure, anyway). To me, that's worth another purchase. Maybe you don't care about the series; that's fine. But even though I have no interest in Madden and think it's a bit much to have one game per year, I don't go onto Madden threads and insult the game and the people who are anticipating it. It's their money, and they can spend it as they wish.

Oh, and be sure to keep using the smiley face. That's some masterful use of irony.

I -did- care about the series, until it started to be rehash after rehash. You also do realize that CoD has had a new game every year, so why don't you feel it's too much for CoD to have a new game each year?

By graphics, I mean the actual setting. I've also never questioned whether anyones purchase of the title is justified.

Again, I've never said it should be worthless to anyone. I expressed why -I- don't feel the series is worth the praise it has.

You're entitled to be interested in the series still. Just as I am entitled to offer an opinion on it seeming to be the exact same formula in different clothing.

Well, to be completely honest, I think you have taken it wrong. I wasn't aiming my initial post at anyone, it was instead aimed at a game that I don't feel deseveres any of the praise it recieves because of it's reliance on the same formula with an annual release.

It seems you have taken a lot of my points in to the context of me aiming them at you, or specific people, when in fact, that isn't the case. I'm aiming them solely at the game, and therefore, don't question whether you, or anyone else enjoys the series, but instead why I don't.
