I love your avatar. Polyphony should stop trying to compete with Forza and realize that the only way GT can be great is if they go back to what made GT unique. The more I think about it, the more I believe Forza ruined Gran Turismo.Great racer will just become even greater.
Yeah, and Forza, well... I guess it's kinda left behind and "looks too familiar" :P

One can argue that Call of Duty did the same for multiplayer games and first-person shooters.RikusakiWell, I wouldn't be one to argue such a thing... because that would imply that GT was once a hardcore sim.
A lot of that should have been there at launch; we waited 6 years for goodness sake. If the patch had come a week or so after launch it would have made a difference but this is about a year on. I don't play GT5 any more so why go back to it when I have lots of other, more recent games?

GT5 AMAZING LIGHTNING

For a moment I thought that was real life.
How can people say that Forza has better graphics than GT5 is beyond me and in all seriousness, Forza 4 cars still look like they were made out of plastic. They only look fine while in the garage...

Sorry but play the Forza 4 demo and then come back. Your comment is as biased as it gets. They only look fine while in the garage...Gue1Same with those in GT5. Both games take advantage of post-processing in images and replays. To say that GT5 in gameplay looks "like real life" and then say Forza 4 in gameplay "looks like plastic" tells me you haven't played FM4, or even seen it in motion. Turn 10 stepped up their game about a hundred notches with FM4 in the graphics department.
Strating? Sorry I barely understood your sentence.wait are we strating photomode contest? you know GT5 easily win
r12qi
Well it's great they are updating it, but it's pathetic having 800 cars that look like utter garbage
Sorry but my Ferrari Enzo disagrees with your definition of perfection. :PPERFECTION!

I kinda feel like you. It's no coincidence that this is being released when Forza 4 is coming out. So that makes me wonder how long polyphony has been sitting on this update. It wouldve been nicer if they would've released this during the summer or just after it was released. But I will still download it just out of curiosity.A lot of that should have been there at launch; we waited 6 years for goodness sake. There's nothing about that picture that tells me that Turn 10 loves cars. You could tell me that this is a car model some kid did for a college project and I'd believe you.
The way Gran Turismo captures the automobile tells me what the series is all about: the cars. You should be able to tell the emotional difference between your image and the images below.
By looking at these images, you can tell right away that this is a Gran Turismo game. No other racing title celebrates the automobile quite like Gran Turismo.

Yeah. Having 800 last gen cars surely celebrates automobiles :D

having very detail 200 that no other game mathc probably til next gen do :P
I don't like the standard cars. However, when it comes down to it, GT5 plays better than Forza3. When you play both with a wheel it is obvious which one I prefer. I have not played Forza4 yet, and I don't know if I will bother as I only really need one "sim" racer. I really like that GT5 is being improved with this update and it makes me think that it will be updated further. I'm hoping for a custom paintjob update.
But then people would just b**** about how the game took a million years to make :( They did it in the past, a lot of the time here you hear about when GT5 is ever coming out.[QUOTE="mitu123"]
Game should had came out next month instead of last year and this content would had been in the game.
Jesus_on_fire
People just dont learn, hyped GT5 to the moon, it ended up being a average racer, now they are hyping features that should have been included in this unfinished game since day one. LOL hype.

Sorry but play the Forza 4 demo and then come back. Your comment is as biased as it gets.I've played both and I still prefer the aesthetics of GT5. Both look great technically, but something about the way Turn 10 models their cars seems exaggerated and less true-to-life to me. Not that's it bad or anything, just not what I prefer. This is kind of what I'm talking about.
That and the lighting make me prefer the visuals of GT5. Though Forza 4 does have a better framerate, no screen tearing an no GT4-era car models, which makes it much more visually consistent, a huge plus.

I'm reminded of this comparison between Forza 3 and GT5 by Car&Driver.
"GT5 is marketed as a simulator, and its physics model is extremely realistic. The behavior of the cars is startlingly faithful to their real-life counterparts, and so they respond accordingly to poor driving and when you miss critical braking and turn-in points. In contrast, Forza is extremely forgiving, and provides a much larger margin of error.
the racing is excellent—credit the finely tuned physics engine and attention paid to individual cars' handling characteristics—and isn't that what the game is supposed to deliver?
And so Forza is much more of a game than a hard-core simulator, but for the impatient and those less interested in absolute realism, this is hardly a demerit. Forza may feel slightly less realistic than GT5, but that just means inexperienced players can dive right in."
I guess all that wouldn't matter if you were only using a controller, but from what I played of the Forza 4 demo I feel this still applies mostly. Both games are great but they offer different things to racing fans.
I'm happy for it. Now if they could update the car stat errors. A lot of the engine displacement number of cylinders and hp and torqs are wrong. For instance the Focus RS is listed as a four cylinder when it is a five. caseypayne69Is it the new 2011/12 model? Becuase i believe the new RS Focus models are going to be using the 4 cylinder "Ecoboost" Engines rather than the volvo straight 5.

From what I played of the Forza 4 demo I feel this still applies mostly. Both games are great but they offer different things to racing fans.hypoty:lol: iRacing and GTR2 offer something different. GT and FM offer the same thing: unrealistic car porn. They are like Battlefield 2... really showy, with an air of realism... but under the surface, it does not come anywhere close to the realism offered by Red Orchestra or ArmAII. Anyone who knows anything about real "sims" knows that GT5 and FM3/4 are just car appreciation games... not physics appreciation games. That article from Car & Driver seems laughably biased. Who did Top Gear choose to support? It wasn't GT.

I actually played iRacing on and off for several years, and yes both GT and Forza can't touch the realism of that. Regardless that doesn't mean we can't compare the driving physics of both the console racers. Also Top Gear will support whoever pays them the most, they don't sit down with a copy of GT5 and F4 and meticulously compare the two.

I can't agree with that in regards to aesthetics, Forza seems to exaggerate their models in my eyes. But to each their own.
hypoty when I look at those images I still prefer Forza 4 graphically. GT5's photomode is unmatched but I believe Forza 4 wins in gameplay.graphics.racing1750
Perfectly understandable. I'm not trying to pass my comments off as fact or anything, just state my opinion. I plan to get Forza 4 on release and enjoy the hell out of it.

I know what you're trying to say though. PD are masters of lighting, I just think when I look at the overall graphics Forza 4 is more appealing. Forza 3s problem was it's lighting was too saturated and the result was a more gamey look. Forza 4 now finally has more believable car models mixed with high detailed surroundings.Too many Japanese cars in GT5 and not enough European cars. If I wanted to drive a Civic, I'd just borrow it from my friend.percechI do think they're too many pointless cars in GT games. PD need to scrap the entire Standard car list and work on nothing but premium models.

Agreed, their premium cars are REALLY well modelled, they could simply add to that list, and just leave out the standard list altogether :) . In fact the premiums could survive into next generation even, because they already have them modelled with too much detail for the actual races, they have to tone them down for races

You point out technical flaws, but to me, GT5 is still far more photorealistic than Forza 4.
I don't think Forza has anything that can even come close to this.
There are parts in that video where you can't even see the road. That's perfect photoralism right there.

While that looks great it's not consistent through out the game. GT5s biggest problem from my point of view is the games engine sounds are off, and yes that includes the premiums.

The disappointing thing about GT5 (and why it flopped) is the inconsistencies. At times it looks far better than anything I've ever seen and other times, it looks just like GT4. That video is one example of how beautiful the game can be and how amazing it could have been if it was beautiful all the way through.
