Gran Turismo SHOULD outsell Halo Reach.

Think about it.

Gran Turismo, as a series is pretty evenly split, with 19 million sold in America, and 24 million sold in Europe.

as long as a game has a strong community i really don't care if it sells 1 million or 100 gajillion

i think you cant count sales from last gen and think they will sell the same as this gen.

this gen is full of good racers and a few great racing sims. GT% has little chance to beat a shooter yet alone one of the biggest shooters...

actually racing sims generally have a very long shelf-life online

people are still playing 5 year old racing sims like GT4 and rFactor

generally the only reason they stop playing is when the full sequel comes out or they jump ship to another franchise

ps2 had over 100 million owners. and there wasnt that many good racers and almost no other racing sims.

What? There were quite a few great racing games last gen. Here's a list of 30 racing games not made by PD that scored 8 or higher last gen. That's 10 great games for each PD release and that's only counting PS2 (and not the Toca series by Codemasters for some reason).

GT5 surely has a great chance of being the best selling PS3 game (well i'm practically certain it will)...

However as regards outselling halo: reach i dont know but surely it will be a close fight :)

only way its gonna outsell halo reach. is if all driver Ed schools buy a copy so people can be warned about how sleepy you can get behind the wheel. because racing sims get really boring and makes you very sleepy.

Xbox 360 gamers buy more games than PS3 gamers.

this one is hard to tell, but from the data i am seeing, NA isa bigger market than Eu .... so GT5 could come slightly behind Reach ..... but again OSTD couldn't get half of the sales of Halo3, not to mention piracy on the x360.

I'm fairly convinced GT5 will outsell Reach, firstly because its the first full GT game Polyphony have released this gen and secondly because one game is rated 3+ and the other is rated 15+. Also the FPS market is so ridiculously over-saturated i'm sure people are starting to get tired of buying them.

I think Halo: Reach will win though.

I've played all these "high quality" PS3 games, now what? My PS3 is almost worthless to me now, as is my 360. The day that Blizzard announces It's record breaking MMORPG World of Warcraft exclusively for either the 360 or PS3 is the day that we can honestly say, "My console is irrefutably better than yours!"

So let's make this more apples to apples. Prologue and GT PSP by themselves pulled in 3.37 mil in the US, 0.88 in Japan, 2.82 EMEA. The numbers barely look statistically significant.

Even when comparing Halo 3 against GT4, considering huge differences in userbase, Assuming GT5 and Reach follow the same patterns as their predecesors, I don't see how GT5 could outsel Reach.
