WOW, Halo 3? Grand Theft Auto 4? What's next Uncharted 2, Final Fantasy 13 and Mass Effect?

Disgaea is pretty bad for a current gen game. It looks like a PS1 game
xBLACK-MAGEx
its sad becasue it turns ppl off from playing this amazing game! :(
I don't understand why, they have beautiful 2D graphics.. I don't think 2D graphics should count in this thread anyways, because they aren't going after realistic graphics.

But that has PS1.5 like graphics. Games can do 2D great and look better than 3D.
Examples-Street Fighter 4, Blazblue, Little Big Planet, others.

Street Fighter 4 is pixel shaded, Blazblue is drawn, Little Big Planet is 3D.. None of those have 2D/Pixelated graphics..
This is 2D/Pixelated.

Isn't the other game drawn then? But still, there's no denying that it looks bad.

That doesn't stop these games from being so good looking. This is the point he was trying to make, he just used bad examples.

No the game is pixelated, and it doesn't look bad.. Maybe it's not your ****but I find pixelated graphics to be 100x better then 3D graphics.
lol @ yall haters
anyway, that target terror game is hilariously bad looking, very reminiscent of lethal enforcers. also disgaea 3 is embarassingly bad for a ps3 game--good thing the graphics dont matter.
I'm a little bit annoyed that people list excellent games ( Halo 3, MGS4, GTA IV) as having the worst visuals of the generation, when really these games were simply "middling". Their visuals weren't terrible, they weren't top notch, they were simply what worked for getting out a gameplay experience that (whine all you like) has been vastly popular, critically acclaimed, and well-received by the vast majority of gamers.
-
Yes I know half of System Wars thinks hating on popular games makes them "hardcore" - but it's reality time. If mom or dad bought your system, if you don't own a gaming PC, if Deus Ex is "some old game" and not "the guideline to success" and you still think Crysis was about graphics (hint - CryEngine is about physics, maybe play the games before commenting on them...) you're not hardcore, and you're not winning yourself any points by strapping on the fanboy goggles and attacking systems arbitrarily.
-
Short summary - stop attacking popular games simply because they're on a platform you don't own. Boo-hoo, everyone likes Halo 3, get over it and move on.
-
Second complaint - and this is a larger one - let's stop attacking games with intentionally retro graphics. Yes, Disgaea has sprite graphics. It is *supposed to* have sprite graphics. Atlus is perfectly capable of 3D graphics, in fact, *they made 3D graphics on the DS*. They intentionally use sprite graphics as a trademark "sty1e" with a niche series that is beloved by its fans.
-
Disgaea is *supposed* to look like that. It's not a muddy mess of poorly executed 3D graphics, or a blur of muddy polygons - it's crisp, well-drawn sprites. Hell I know we said "no handhelds" but if you're going to go that route, why not attack The Dark Spire?
Hey look, it's the worst graphics of the generation! Sure, just like the Monkey Island remake, it has a lush, 3D graphics mode, but stick it in retro mode, and it's easily the least visually impressive game produced this generation. It looks like something out of 1980... it's like, it's almost like that was *intentional*.
-
When you're looking for a graphics peasant, you're looking for a game that *failed*. Badly-executed 3D graphics, poor development, poorly executed ports - etc. Don't attack intentional remakes, and don't attack games solely because they're popular. I know the forces of fanboyism and ignorance can be powerful - but you are smart people, and you're smarter than to attack developers who did a good job simply because you have a different taste in systems / art sty1e.

The game has PS1 graphics and still has a ton of jaggies I mean come on. Those graphics are not retro they are just failHeck look at this $5 Burger King game and it blows away Disgaea and there is no reason at all a $5 fast food game should ever look better then a retail game.

No, it isn't retro, it's pixelated.. They decided to have that artstyl3 hey aren't going after 3D graphics. Nothing is fail about pixelated graphics, they look far better then any 3D game.

If you're unable to grasp the sprite / retro art-sty1e, then don't comment on it. Disgaea has a loyal following that does not want, nor need, the art to use slick, anti-aliased, super-Photoshopped high-res nonsense. We want, and continue to receive, games made in the same manner as the entire Disgaea series has been made back to the original release on the PS2, which in itself was a throwback to earlier games.

The same could be said about fans of that game. There is no problem admitting they are crap graphics for this gen and still liking the game. Halo 3 has its own art style also for example and it is not the graphics king. True it is far better then Disgaea but my point was having a certain style does not mean the graphics are all of a sudden fine. Also many games were made in the PS2 era but were able to advance. You enjoy the game and that is cool. To say though it is not poor graphics is silly.

I can only agree it has poor graphics on a technical level, past that they're attractive to me.

And that is cool. I LOVE WoWs art style but I know it is far from being some graphic king or something. So it is the same thing.[QUOTE="rybe1025"]I said that on a youtube video and they said i had no clue what i was talking about. I dont get some people deny something so obvious. Disgaea 3 is a low budget game, pretty good quality but far too niche for most people, there are several other examples on the Ps3, You could bring up cross edge if you want, its the same case, except that Cross Edge had some 3D backgrounds, some people said that D3 graphics were an artistic choice inspired by tradition, still it was clearly on a low budget. If this game ends up being used somehow to put down the Ps3 for looking so old, that'd be funny. Because the Best looking console games of this gen are Ps3 Exclusives as well *clap* *clap* Irony-o-meter explodes :PDisgaea is pretty bad for a current gen game. It looks like a PS1 game

How does No More Heroes and MadWorld and Disgea count as having bad graphics?
No More Heroes and Madworld look great with their cel shaded cartoon like graphics. Alot of effort went into that.
Disgea has retro graphics not bad ones.
16 bit pixel games don't look bad just because they aren't complicated.
Retro and Cel Shaded doesn't equal bad graphics.
IndigoSunrise
I agree that Cel Shaded doesn't equal bad graphics. However, I chose No More Heroes because in places it is very rough, like the outdoor parts on the motorbike. LoZ: The Wind Waker had nicer, cleaner looking cell shaded graphics and it's a last gen game. No More Heroes is the worst looking game I've played this gen but admittedly some people have posted pictures of games which look worse.
Prototype. The game was a lot of fun, but the city design (with incredibly low poly models and horrible textures) was some of the worst this gen.
SambaLele
I thought prototype looked great. The textures aren't the best but the overall level of detail and crazy amount of stuff going on all at once makes up for it.
