Gameplay/Story >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Graphics.
I value Story and Gameplay mostly equally, but Story is what never chagnes and is awesome, while gameplay always changes.

Really? I thought Assassins Creed was terrible.

That's because the gameplay was repetitive as hell.Btw. people take graphics for granted. Graphics are definitely under rated. Each gen pops out with better graphics, not better stories. pfft. Crysis has one hell of a story line. Yes sir.LOXO7Dude, graphics are expected to get better each gen, gameplay needs to get better or else gaming doesn't get better, only gets better in how they look, not how they play.

After 7 generations of gaming, graphics still didnt reach how high gameplay and story are? They must be up there.

All I'm trying to say is that gameplay comes 1st IMO, graphics are simply going to get better. I would never like to play a crappy game with great graphics, that would be absurd for me. Gaming does have problems with stories, but some developers do care and many don't. For me, it's Gameplay>Graphics>Story because to me, stories are hard to come up with and be really good as well.
I also find it funny that there is only 1 vote for graphics while there have been numerous threads throughout the past few months saying somethign like "Woah look at the video for the opening sequence for this unreleased game! Look at the graphics! GOTY 2009 for sure!"BumFluff122That's because the graphics lovers are to scared to show their faces lest we shred their logic to ribbons, which we probably would.

Head of Games wins one internet.

Not to be Dad or anything but, Internet is spelled with an I not an i.:PNopeIn order of importance:
Gameplay
Pacing & length
Visual and audio presentation
Story (if any)

Gameplay > Story >>>> Graphics. I would choose a lot of things over graphics like level design , variety, physics etc and some other stuff which are genre specificnavalNot really. Physic's and level design are part of the graphics in most games.

please , both are different ...
Level design determines stuff like repetitiveness, backtracking, variety - consider FEAR - good graphics but each level exactly the same i.e, poor level design
Physics too is different - Consider a sim racer and a arcade racer - A arcade racer will focus more on graphics while a sim one will focus more physics.
Gameplay is the most important followed by the story and then the graphics.
I played through MGS even though I wasnt a fan of the gameplay. What kept me from returning that game? The story.
I have played through OoT and beaten it around ten times. I love that game and will continue playing it despite its outdated graphics because I like the story and the gameplay.
Stories make games with okay gameplay into great experiences. The story kept me playing GTA IV and Tales of Vesperia. Yes I had fun playing the game and I liked the gameplay but something has to convince you to do the same thing a million times. Something has to make me want to steal another car, shoot another person, fight my 100,000th random encounter, etc. Hell, if any RPG has a crap story then I dont think it is worth dumping 80+ hours into, especially if it has tedious random battles.
I am personally disgusted by the insane amount of times gamesare shot down or snubbed or just plain insulted due to its graphics. I hate graphics. I wish everything were 2d again. That way it'd be the story people concentrated on, and the gameplay. Innovations and stuff. I wanna see what you all think at large...Lord_Deos
What the...Look. the answer is simple, it's Obviously GAMEPLAY.
However, that doesn't mean that Graphics or Story don't compliment Gameplay.
What's wrong with having ALL THREE?
Nothing.
Yes, there are snobs out there, and it gets crazy, but there are too many times I've seen Graphics Enrich the Game (Realism or beauty like Okami, SOTC), the Particles and Framerate help the atmosphere of the game (RE, Max Payne, MGS for instance), the Physics make the game more fun, the A.I. keeping us at the edge of our seat.
In this day and age, there is NO REASON we can't have all of these, but if you make me choose JUST ONE, obviously GAMEPLAY is the most important.
I don't like the kids saying one is better than the other either, but I also don't like the notion we all just revert to the beginning of time because we can't fit into modern times.
Learn to adapt, it's human nature, and it's the reason we are at the top of the food chain.
For all you know, there were guys in the 1980's complaining about the new games, wishing it would all go back to PONG. Before that there were guys that in the 1970's wishing that we would all go back to watching TV. Before than Radio, before that playing Cards, etc.
Where would we be then, huh??!
Story > Gameplay > Graphics
i'm not trying to be different from the majority here, but imo, immersive storyline and plot progression are very significant factors to me in a game...
especially as a gamer who grew on video games, revolving around RPGs game as the more preferrable choice...
if the game is as truly as awesome as it is, the idea that brought the game to light(basically the story), should be well-versed and well presented...
story>gameplay>graphics
but i must say i love games that have cool artistic disign.
so i kinda think about it this way
story>graphics=gameplay
same hereStory > Gameplay > Graphics
