Americans dont buy Gundam Wing games, Japanese don't buy Halo or Gears of war games. It is as simple as that. Also Europeans don't really reject Halo or Gears but they don't embrace it either like they embrace titles like MGS4, Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy.

1. Keep putting on the pressure by reducing the 360 hardware price .
2. Having more and more of the old sony exclusives going multiplat
3. By releasing the 360( although rrod flawed) first and continue this trend with future hardware

The one thing you can bank for sure is that the next ms console will be truly astounding .

they simply don't know how to win a consul war like they alowed no room for a slim version or extra features besides gameing.

As long as MS can sustain itself in this market and get games developed for it, I really don't care if it's first or 3rd..

I refuse to jump up and down like an idiot praising a company because it has more sales. The fact is, I like my 360, I like the games and the online service. MS isn't going anywhere, so first or 3rd place in this market really doesn't mean too much if the market can support 3 healthy consoles.

I owned a Wii and I chose not to keep it.

I own a PS3 because it's finally showing promise.

I own a 360 because I like the games lineup.

As long as the consoles I buy keep my interest I'm satisfied. That's really all that matters. We have a stable market that is strong enough to keep all 3 current gen consoles in business. Hell the PS2 is still thriving. Nobody is going anywhere. This so called war is as meaningless as all of the talk being generated about it on message boards.

-1 year headstart = kaput (wii surpassed it in a record 9 months in retail)

-losing in worldwide totals for the entire year of 2007 and 2008 to sony PS3

-home of some of the best games like halo 3,bioshock,cod4,gears of war

-best online service of the big 3

I used Panic more for Imagery than actual Fact. They dont need to hit a PANIC button, but if March NPDs are still showing PS3s outselling 360s, they may want to inch towards the Price Drop button.

1st off M$ has "lost" anything... By last estimates it's still ahead of the PS3 by atleast 7 milliion units..

2nd it still kicks the **** out of the PS3 when it comes to sales.. Brag all you want about the PS3 selling (40k) more than the 360 did in Feb, but I guarantee you the Rockband Devs, and COD4 devs aren't saying "OMG Teh PS3 is Teh winnar!!"

3rd to answer you question.. M$ has failed to capitolize on their 1 year headstart... 1 year after the Original PSOne launched it was $150. I know because that's when I bought one. One year after the PS2 launched it was $199. The Lowest 360 model is $279 and that's over 2 years after the launch. When you're competing with the likes of Nintendo, you gotta come stronger than that. They sat right there and let sony continue to drop it's price and they did Nothing.. Those mesley 30/50 dollar price drops aren't going to cut the mustard when you going up against more popular and established brands. Not to mention that they are charging for a service that the other companies are giving away for free. M$ has targeted the Hardcore audience and the Hardcore audience alone this gen. THAT'S why they're on a downwards spiral.

1. if somenoe is losing money here it's micorosftthe only profitable year was 2007 and they lost money anyway due to rrod

2. you're talking about high attach rate when millions of previous ps2 owners are willing to wait for titles like mgs4 and ff and yes even gta4 without buying any next gen console just to buy those games with the ps3, thats what i call a high attach rate. N.B.: 85% of 360 owners were previous xbox1 owners so this means there are millions of ex ps2 owners still waiting to jump off the fence, or bought a wii)

3. many former sony exclusives might have gone multi plat but that doesnt mean they will stay that way, believe me when the tech difference (also thanks to blu ray) starts to become more and more indeniable developers will go back to sony

4. the only reason why microsoft wasnt 3rd place right off the start was the year advantage they had and it will be the only reason why at the end of this generation they will still be 3rd again but with with a smaller difference again thanks to this one year of advantage

Microsoft is imo already doing massive damage control and preparing for the next next generation without caring about leaving behind again huge losses but the dont care they want to be part of the console market, i hope for their sake that they resign soon because all the bets they make are either huge failures (vista, zune, xbox1) or wrong bettings on wrong horses (hd dvd, VOD) why should it be different with the 360

I"m not saying the 360 doesnt have variety i'm saying it's biggest most marketed games: Halo Gears and ME all look the same. So it comes off as having less variety, which doesn't appeal to other regionsf50p90

Ummmm, I totally agree with 360 having first place games and first place online service. This coming from someone who owns all 3 systems and a great PC. If you miss the 360 this gen you'll be missing some of the best games! End of story!

Xbox360 is still doing good, problem is that PS3 was bashed because it had no games, inferior ports, inferior online service, was seen as blu-ray driver and was too expensive...

Microsoft had the advantage of being first in the next-gen console market and sold pretty well in (mainly in the US).. (but though don't forget that PS3 sales were really close most of the time last year to Xbox360 even with all PS3 problems mentioned above)

Lately many good games were released, line-up this year is looking great, multi-plats are on par (check DMC4, Burnout, COD4 etc), Blu-ray won the format war and it had a price drop... All these combined together with a more reliable hardware and Sony's brand name will attract more of the original Sony fans to get the PS3... Online service is also getting better and its free of charge so things seem to be going as Sony planned with PS3 being the main multimedia system sitting in your living room...

Important though that even if PS3 gained momentum, Sony needs backup by great games coming out on the system, and work so that the online service gets better and is kept free of charge...

Though respecting Nintendo, the I still dont understand the Wii's huge success, because apart from the 1st party games (Marion, Zelda, Metroid, SSBB) it really has nothing to offer... maybe its me but it lacks multi-plats, it lacks hardware tech power and it lacks even a good online service...

Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Grand Tarismo plus GTA, which people still associate with Playstation, combined with the HUGE sony brand loyalists, and there you go. Let's not forget that Bluray is an excellent reason to get a PS3, it's why I originally got one. Everyone seemed to call it quits for Sony last year, never gave the PS3 a chance, now it has all the momentum in the world. Even with Gears 2, I expect the PS3 to put a massive dent into MS's marketshare.

For what one month? Xbox said they had a supply shortage. I live in Jersey I can verify that. They've been hard to find lately. Not as hard as Wii though. All time sales it's Wii>Xbox>PS3. PS3 is the loser so far, that's what they get for getting to the party late.

I believe that the PS3 and the 360 have enough exclusives between them that warrants me purchasing both.

Just as some 360 games don't appeal to Wii owners the same goes for the reverse. It's a matter of taste, respect it.
