[QUOTE="Ignicaeli"]Alan Wake - Silent Hill ( - ? - )AAllxxjjnnNo, not at all.
If you say so... I just though it had the same feel to it at the begining than the very first silent hill....
Alan Wake: Main character hits a hitchhicker with his car, leaves the car in a foggy night and meets a dark crazy-s**t-evil-axe-swinging err.. something.
Silent Hill: Main character "almost" hits someone on the road, and after waking discovers his daughter disappeared, so he leaves the car in a foggy night and meets a crazy-s**t-flying err... something.
Anyway, I did not play Alan Wake for that long yet, you may be right. :)

.............Bioshock is not a rip off from system shock.. IT was made by the same company and is a spiritual successor....
Little Big Planet is hardly like mario outside of being a platformer, and mario was certainly not the first of that....
A rip off is a blantent copy, first person shooters of today are not blantent copies of what doom was.. Me thinks you don't know what a rip off is..

Mafia from GTAMafia is not what I would call a rip off from GTA. The only thing in common is the sandbox type city, other than that they are different under the surface.JuarN18
Anyways my pick is singularity.
Dragon Quest- from Ultima III and IV
Final Fantasy - from Dragon Quest
Disciples and Age of Wonders - from Heroes of Might and Magic
Bioshock - from System Shock
Freespace 1-2 - from Wing Commander
Forsaken - from Descent
Forza - from Gran Turismo
Call of Duty - from Medal of Honor
Theatre of War -from Close Combat
Warcraft - from Warhammer
Take Command - from Sid Meier's Gettysburg
Blitzkrieg - from Sudden Strike
Silent Hunter - Silent Service
and two controversial ones (more of the "look who the real innovator is ;) ):
Mario 64- ripped from Jumping Flash
Pikmin- from Tiny Troops
AdrianWerner
... Wait.. How is Freespace series a rip off from Wing commander? In the fact they are both space sims that take place in space? People seem not to know what a "rip-off" really is.. Its a shameless copy in just about every way.. The vast majority of things mentioned here is not the case what so ever in any way..
To sum up this thread: X is a rip-off of Y because it is in the same genre and Y came out first. :P
svenus97
Exactly. Pointless thread.

Quoting from the opening cinematic of Alan Wake for Xbox 360:
"Stephen King once wrote that nightmares exist outside of logic and there is little fun to be had in explanations, they are antithetical to the poetry of fear. In an horror stories the victim keeps asking why, but there can be no explanation, and there shouldn't be one. The unanswered mistery is what stays with us the longest, and is what will be remembered in the end.
My name is Alan Wake, I'm a writer. I've always had a vivid imagination, but this dream unsettled me. It was wild, and dark and weird even by my standarts... so yes, it began with a dream.
Following a typical nightmare pattern I was late, desperetely trying to reach my destination, a lighthouse, for some urgent reason, I coudn't remember. I've been driving too fast down a coastal road to get there.
I've seen the HITCH-HICKER too late. He was dead. I was convinced they would put me in jail, and I would never see Alice again. Suddenly his body was gone..."
You surely remember this don't you? After that starts the first episode, with control tutorials and such... thats the length of what I played anyway (The xbox belongs to a friend from my work, and I played it just a bit, as I stated before, but saying I never played it is... weird...). Nonetheless I pointed the two games before as a question, if you'd ever care to notice.

The way they wield their weapons seems awfully similar.Well they are both developed by Nintendo EAD it is just that they didn't think Doki Doki Panic would be successful here and they didn't think the real Super Mario Bros. 2 would be successful here because it was harder (Supposedly I thought it was easier the only problem I had is in 8-3 and 8-4.)Super Mario Bros 2 is the epitome of rip offs...
Poor doki doki panic...
Nice plagiaristic platforming mario is doing here...:P

Singularity and Darksiders.
I wouldn't say Singularity ripped off Bioshock (the gameplay is actually quite different aside from being an FPS with magic powers and upgradeable weapons), it's more of a HL2 ripoff. But so far I'm certainly enjoying it more than Bioshock.
Darksiders is a straight rip of Zelda, though, and it does it very solidly for a startup developer's first game, and with panache too (although the story just sucks)

Yeah, it's too bad that the game get tons and tons more players than it would have if they didn't change anything....seriously, no one would remember Doki Doki Panic if it wasn't Mario 2, and that would be awful because it was a great game.

Just accept it, the dude ripped off some of his old SS2 ideas. Just look at the plot twists in both games. RIP OFF am confirmed!!!!111!!!11!

Actually Mafia in the begining was going to be a normal oldschool TPS. Then they heard the rumors of what Rockstar was doing with GTAIII, so they decided to add the city instead of just jumping from level to level.

Leving was a lead on SS2, but he didn't have anything to do with SS1, that's all I'm saying
