What do you think is the greaatest franchise of all time

I find the lack of Metroid disturbing. Barely any franchises in the history of gaming have been consistent in quality for over two decades. Even Hunters despite being a really crappy Metroid, was still a very well-made game.
Where is the other option? Because I sure would never pick gears of war or gta..
Anyway zelda followed by mario and final fantasy
Metroid only had 3 games. Not really a franchise :\I find the lack of Metroid disturbing. Barely any franchises in the history of gaming have been consistent in quality for over two decades. Even Hunters despite being a really crappy Metroid, was still a very well-made game.

Well, it is obviously Mario.
In my opinion though, it is Zelda, followed very closely by Metroid.
Shocker, but I am not a big fan of 2D mario games, and I didn't care for SM 64 and SM S. I love SMG 1&2 though.

No spinoffsGrandTheftDogThat's an arbitrary rule to add after the fact. Even if you call the entire Prime series a "spin-off", which would be ludicrous considering the fact that all of the games are confirmed to be part of the series canon, you still have five games. Metroid (plus its remake: Zero Mission), Return of Samus, Super Metroid, Fusion, and Other M. Plus the CDs, comics, and manga.
I have to choose? Out of those it would either be GTA or halo since I have never owned a nintendo system that means sonic and mario are out though SMG2 was awesome. I like Half Life as well
That list sucks. It's tough to choose from, but IMO my top ten are...
1. Diablo
2. Half Life
3. God of War
4. GTA
5. Super Mario
6. Zelda
7. Metriod
8. Jak and Daxter
9. Legacy of Kain
10. Mega Man

GrandTheftDog
Mario, Metroid, and Pikmin would be my top choices.
P.S. I cannot believe what TC is saying about Metroid. He is completely unaware of that series. There are 7 games that fit into the main series timeline, and two spinoffs that I am aware of. Two games in this franchise are considered masterpieces by a very large amount of people for good reason: Super Metroid (SNES) and Metroid Prime(GCN).
