[QUOTE="Jag85"]I remember Unreal Tournament 2004 from last gen having kill streaks

Do you mean that booming voice that goes "WICKED SICK" and stuff? That's hardly a kill streak reward.
Okay, then what about Mercenaries mode of Resident Evil 4? The higher the kill streaks, the more points you get to unlock stuff. Sure, there are some differences, but the COD4 kill streak mechanic seems like more of an improvement over pre-existing mechanics rather than something "groundbreaking".Honestly, Dark Souls was the better game.Frostbite24
Better =/= Groundbreaking
Dark Souls was the better game, but it was Demon's Souls that broke more ground.
Mount & Blade.

Nice choice.
I wouldn't say sandbox RPGs were that niche before that... Fable sold millions in the previous gen.I wouldn't really call any game groundbreaking since they all have elements from past generations, but Oblivion/Fallout 3/Skyrim were a huge shot in the arm for RPGs. Sandbox RPGs were a fairly niche genre prior to those and I think more and more open world sandbox RPGs will arrive.KC_Hokie

The Souls series as a whole worked to create groundbreaking gameplay for this gen. You realize they were made by the same developer, right?[QUOTE="skrat_01"][QUOTE="indzman"]Fixed it up in terms of that list. Honestly, Dark Souls was the better game. Oh I agree from all that I've played of Dark and Demon's Souls, but Demon's Souls did implement the whole hybrid singleplayer-multiplayer first./Demons souls
