Growing tired of System Wars...

Hey folks,

Am I the only one who has grown tired of this forum? It use to be much more entertaining and worthwhile. Now its the same ole` tired

arguments nonstop. Each day its "PC is dead", "PC isn't dead", "Game looks better on the PS3", "Game looks better on the 360", "bla bla bla.

Looking at other forums there doesn't seem to be these tired arguments. I am all for the concept and idea of system wars but perhaps due to this forum

being filled with kiddies it has become that of an elementary play ground. There must be more topics of discussion then what is constantly being

thrown against the System Wars wall day in and day out here. What types of discussion would interest you or peak your eye? All in all, this use to be

the #1 gaming forum imho, now it has definitely fallen from that summit. Perhaps due to the moderation increase that is no longer the case, who knows?

Anyhow, am I alone in having this senitment?

This board used to be great for hoots and laughs, as it was meant to be the dumping ground for all the 'problem' posters and the debates they caused. Now, it's easily the most monitored and controlled board on this site. Combine that with many of the more prominent and entertaining posters either getting banned or just leaving, and pretty much all of the fun vanishes. But, hey, at least we still have the blatant and obvious trolls with fifty alt accounts each that spam the same topics and post again and again, each of them somehow manage to avoid the banhammer for months at a time...right?

Yes you are the only one tired of this. I's very fun to watch. It is kind of like pro wrestling except the writers are less creative.

I still can't believe those two were banned.

I think SW is a pretty cool guy. Eh owns noobz and doesn't afraid of anything.

I still like SW. It's still full of teh lulz if you're not all serious business about it.

Nowadays if you are particularly harsh on a system, you are accused of trolling fans of that system. Don't know when it started but thats why a lot of people have lost interest in this forum.

System Wars is always at it's best when new systems are announced and being released.

Right now it's fairly established how the rest of the gen is going to play out and we're in the Summer drought. The holidays should bring some fervor back into SW.

But there is so many of them :( It's difficult to find suitable descriptions for these people that won't get you banned.

I even think "arrogant" and "ignorant" will get you in trouble here.

What doesn't help is that there aren't any fanboys like yo_foo and TwinBlade85 anymore. Professional trolls who knew how to start a war. Now all we have is dumb trolls that don't even form a proper argument. At least with the old guys, they would write 20 paragraph threads as to why the Wii sucks and actually back it up with some serious evidence (even if it was incredibly off-the-wall). It made things entertaining. Now its just correcting common misconceptions and telling the bad trolls they're wrong and to GTFO.

I think it should be up to the individual user. If someone were to call me an idiot, I wouldn't care one bit, and I certainly wouldn't report them for it. If people get offended by things people say to them on the internet, they need to grow a pair. It makes me wonder how some people deal with it in the real world where there aren't any mods to hide behind.

nothing against you, but c'mon...tempers flare in this place...we deserve a ton of slack, what we say is based on how heated the argument gets...and that's what SW is...is just a bunch of arguments

i understand if you mod someone for cussing or whatever...but if an idiot or two slips out, we shouldn't be modded for that

i always like to hope that the things i have done here in sw like finding and reporting the account suicides (especially the tortured/killed cat pics that were put up here and in the DS and Wii sections that one time, i scoured every board for those that day) make up for the times i've crossed any line but i'm sure stuff like that makes no difference

just coming on here and adding to the general insanity paints a pretty big target on you for the hammer

Just as it's totally possible to form entire paragraphs without ever swearing, it's possible to form entire paragraphs without having to call someone an idiot. Either both should be allowed or neither should be allowed. Besides, there are better ways to get messages across, for example:

I agree....It's pretty sterile and with very little substance to the debates....You can't even call someone out for out right ******** anymore simply because 9/10 times you will get hit with "trolling"..

SW shouldn't be a substitute for off topic, but for the community to gel more leinancy is needed. I find that it just restricts the levels of communication.

I think System Wars can be a trap. I mean it is a forum that puts system vs system against each other and of course there will be people who will represent their favorite. I think those people really has to walk a very thin line here and I know all of them can't be all serious and things they say are probably just for the lulz. They're probably just playing a persona like those youtube guys. I don't think you can really do that here. I like SW though, it's pretty entertaining and informative.

People act like you get kicked out of SW for any small offense and without any warning. Not true. As long as you aren't racist or extremely bigoted the worst you'll get is a moderation with point reduction. People earn the right to get kicked out of SW and it takes a fair amount of effort and desire to do so.

Why don't people stop living in the past and swooning about the "cool" old users and step up to the plate. If you think the community is boring then do something about it. The old times were alright, but not nearly as good as people make them seem. Reminds me of old duds sitting in their rockers on the porch compaining about how the young uns don't have know how to have fun like the old days.

Being able to call somebody an idiot over some games does not equal fun.

This forum is far too heavily moderated, it's supposed to be a dumping ground yet it gest modded more heavily than any other board and many prominent members just leave or get banned (im still not happy about what happened to Thrones). It is not conducive to community.BoloTheGreat
