Yep, saw it with my own two eyes. Was gone in a flash though, and a few hours later a 10 was there.[QUOTE="Bigboi500"]
[QUOTE="Lto_thaG"] It received a 9.5 at first?NaveedLife
Should have stayed that way too :P.
:lol: agreed! I really want GS staff to answer WTF is up with the 8.5 streak with Wii exclusives. SMG2 is like the only exception in two years!Fellow GS members, I must admit to you, that this in not actually apart of GS' plan but my plan:twisted:
Just wait, you will amazed :o
Yep. The game plan is to have all sheep force themselves to believe it was a big mistake, and Gamespot actually gave it AAA. Then, they post the 8.5 review to crush the rekindled hope of the sheep. Trust me, I'm a doctor.Looks like the review is down even after clicking the 8.5. This is lol. What GS doing? Is this part of a plan?

Just saw it, wow the controls need to be REALLY clumsy to prevent this game from getting AAA status. It got artistic direction, good soundtrack, variety, etc. in the positive section.. :lol: I'm gonna love the game anyway, but GS meltdown is just too awesome to pass up :P.Review is up now. Seems like the game suffers from controls being clumsy at times.
Edit: Nevermind it down again ROFL.

this is frikkin bullcrap lol. It really is. THE ONLY problem they have with a game they keep praising is that the controls are occasially a tad clumsy, but if you fall into a hole it will be your fault.....and other reviewers and people I have heard playing the game have said it controls fine. I dont see how this doesnt get a 9 or higher, but whatever. I could give a crap (personally) about GS's review. I just hate that they gave it an 8.5 due to media lol.
Only complaint is the controls, which I agree with. I honestly don't understand why they chose to map the roll with waggle:? It is obvious why it is a bad idea, yet how did Retro and Nintendo not see it? I actually thought it would be a complaint when I first heard about it, but no previews complained about.

It is one man's opinion, and controls are a big part of the game. And what exactly does the media have to do with this?

Tom also mentions that the boss fights are not particularly imaginative despite being beautiful. Though, the rest of his review is incredibly glowing! Seems like a must have title to me(which, i agree with). Plus, i'm pretty sure Tom isn't one to throw out the high scores(i may be wrong, but i think the only retail games abvove 8.5 from him are GoW3 and SMG2 this year).

I mean because of the poor Wii getting such a bad rap (media). Lol I know badly worded. I am just saying everyone else seems to be doing fine with the controls, but whatever.

I for one have the game and I can say the controls can be annoying at times. But then I would also give this game AAA status... But still an 8.5 is still a great score I don't think the Wii's rep is really hurting it.this is frikkin bullcrap lol. It really is. This is my problem. In the review he states that their are instances of clumsy control that causes problems and or death BUT most of the time you have only yourself to blame. Its amazing that this is put in the same boat as NSMBW( a lazy, uninspired,DS rehash with horrible artistic design)because of waggle issues.. Ok thanks for your time GS, if it wasn't for your forums hardly anyone would be here. Kane and Lynch much?

3. Are there any common System Warsmisconceptions about the review process at GameSpot you'd like to clear up?Or would you like to shed some light onthe whole thing?I think the most common misconception is that all games start as perfect tens and then have points deducted when we find things wrong with them. That's not how we work at all. Games have to earn every point and half-point that they get, so it'd be more accurate to say that all games start out as ones. I also find it strange that scores of 7.0 and above are somehow considered failures or "flops". Fable III, for example, scored a 7.5. 7.0 means good, 8.0 means great, so 7.5 pretty much means very good. Last time I checked, that's a positive evaluation.SWM interview with Justin Calvert
In other words, as has been said a million times by the reviewing staff, a game with no flaws is not necessarily as good as it could possibly be.

I am not surprised to see it as a complaint in a review. Likewise i'm not surprised to see some reviewers note that it's a positive thing(gametrailers).
based on how positive his review sounded, i'm willing to bet Tom was highly considering the editor's choice.
I've been really busy so I've only beaten World 1 at this point so this probably isn't the best source. The blowing thing seems kind of forced, and the roll isn't quit as precise/fluid as I would've liked. I expect I'll get used to this however. But still in the end, the game is awesome :) (so far)can someone describe their issues with the controls and how often and bad is it? thanks! :)

Gamespot drops another notch in the credibility department...
fend_oblivion
It's just a review :/
But it is so predictable. Since we are in the FPS age(dark age) of gaming, everything is being homogenized to that style of play. Lets be honest, there was little doubt in our minds that Call of Duty or Halo Reach would score a 9+ here was there? FPS's are the selling brand right now, not 2d platformers. I just don't understand it.

i'll add my opinion :D
the blowing does kind of slow down the pacing but there are some neat moments where it is implemented. the ground pound is always fun to do, no complaints about that one in the least! the roll is the trickiest one to comment on since it's incredibly important in the platforming. it takes some getting used to, it'd be nicer if this one was a button press. But, i've found that it doesn't stop me from being able to do some of the trickier parts that require rolls. You really do start to get a feel for it, and it can be kind of exhilarating in some of the crazy levels(have you tried 1-k?). It's especially fun when you have diddy and can do an infinite roll! If you didn't really enjoy some of the motions in galaxy or nsmbwii, i'll bet you'll have more complaints with dkcr. But Tom is right, dieing is still your fault not the controls.
regardless, It's insane that retro didn't think to offer classic controller support or GC controller.. would've easily solved this issue for those that didn't enjoy the wii controls.

for the wii mote on its side;
waggle = ground pound
waggle + down on dpad = blow
waggle + forward on dpad = roll
in order to do those motions using the remote and chuk i believe the only difference is that you have to waggle the chuk as well.
