[QUOTE="JLAudio7"]not bashing the game in anyway (im gonna get it on sunday) but 8.5 seems kinda high after what ive heard about the unbalanced items and the next-to-impossible 150cc (from ign's review). oh well ill hope for the best this sunday.sexy_chimp
Yeah I agree.
Nintendo definately did not put near as much effort into this as they did SSBB or SMG, which is very dissapointing.
The only reason I'm getting this game is for my sister, who really wants to play it.
Dammit, even after the positive review, people can not stop talking about disappointment.

That and the remaining reviewers are such sheep.
I'm calling you out Lark, you're such a fanboy
:D
of course, that is if we rightfully so exclude his Fire Emblem review. I won't be having any evidence that supports otherwise!
Anyways, MK games are always a blast to play. I'll be getting this one as soon as my exams finish next week, can't wait to play against some of you :)

[QUOTE="BrownWalrus"]I swear it seems like GS hands out high scores too Wii games all the time, but low to PS3 games all the time. It's the exact opposite almost everywhere else....(save for a few games that truly deserve their score, such as Mario Galaxy)sexy_chimp
Maybe because the Wii has good games and the PS3 has bad games.
Nonsense.
Both libraries are mediocre in their own way.
To achieve a good game library there has to be balance. Balance doesn't exist in either library.
The Wii has good exclusives, but is lacking in everything else.
The PS3 has decent third party support, but is lacking badly in exclusives.
You could argue for either one, but to say the Wii has "good" games and the PS3 has "bad" games is supremely stupid.
Also, the PS3 exclusives are by no means bad (Uncharted is really good), they're just not amazing like Super Mario Galaxy.

Nice score. Bring on the hard 150cc I need a challenge.
Only disappointing thing is no free for all battle mode and item switch options like in smash bros. I F***** hate blue shells:x

The bolded part is pretty telling. And unless you give a reason to why exclusives are more important to the overall integrity of the library, you're just blowing hot air.
As far as I'm concerned, a library should be judged in its entirety. That is the only way to objectively look at it. If both libraries are judged in their entirety, they are both fairly lacking right now.
Also, even if exclusives were more important (which you haven't given any good reason for), the whole PS3 has "bad" games thing is still silly. The exclusives are not bad, they are decent, but nothing special.
extremely boring according to James Mielkie(spelling) over at 1up. "
Another rehash, and another mariokart, driving around another theme park, ds version is much better overall, more of the same, removed some features that the Gamecube had but added some, subpar online and lacking in features"

It's kind of obvious, I didn't think I would need to explain.
Both of them matter, but exclusives matter more. Exclusives can only be played on one console, therefore if you want to play an exclusive on a console, you MUST buy that console. If you want to buy a multiplat, you do not have to buy a certian console, and therefore you would base your purchase on exclusives. Exclusives, most of the time, decide which system you would buy. Multiplats influence that decision, but they do not finalize it.

That's not neccesarily true.
My decision to buy a PS3 was not based off of the exclusives, it was based on the reliability of the console. Also, I wanted a next gen console for COD4, Oblivion and GTAIV, so I bought the one that wasn't going to break.
People buy consoles for various reasons.
When talking about the quality of a game library, all games hold the same value. A library merely dictates what games are avaliable on that console. It doesn't matter if GTAIV is also on the 360, if it is avaliable to me on PS3, it makes the library that much stronger.
If we are to go by your logic, Twilight Princess, Resident Evil 4 and Okami are less valuable to the library than if they would have originated on the Wii.
My thinking is that those 3 titles add much-needed strength to the Wii's multiplat library.
Trying to say which titles are more important is just an arbitrary way of declaring one console's library better.

See my response to sexy_chimp.
Also, if you're comparing the PS3 and Wii, the 360 won't matter.
If you're just looking at the games, the fashion in which the games arrived in the library is immaterial and arbitrary.

Only in System Wars, aka Gamespot.
You wanna talk about bad games? Try telling me that 9.1 for Warioware: Smooth Moves is justified, and 7.5 for Ratchet and Clank is justified. Of course you're going to say yes, i wouldn't expect any other answer.

A mini-game collection is indeed a game and there's no reason it can't get AAA if it's done well.

it is a possibility that GS thought those games deserved those scoresWario ware is boring when your playing it alone, but its awesome in multiplayer. Anyway how is it not a real game?
A mini-game collection NEVER deserves an AAA ever. No matter how good it is, it's not a real game.Fireball2500
Why would a racer deserve to be a AAA game or a FPS with only a 6 hour singal player format and a Mini game collection can not?
Any game if done well can be a AAA game.

You do realize that I consider games like Super Mario Galaxy, TP, and SSBB hardcore? My definition of a hardcore game is more like a tradional game than a tough-as-nails, shoot-some-aliens game.[QUOTE="Tragic_Kingdom7"][QUOTE="Fireball2500"][QUOTE="monkeysrfat"][QUOTE="Fireball2500"][QUOTE="air_wolf_cubed"][QUOTE="BrownWalrus"][QUOTE="sexy_chimp"][QUOTE="BrownWalrus"]I swear it seems like GS hands out high scores too Wii games all the time, but low to PS3 games all the time. It's not, at least, a type of game that really feels like it deserves an AAA. TP does, though. What was Jeff thinking when he did that?TP deserved what it got. And I think Jeff gave good reasons for the score.
But how does WarioWare deserve an AAA and not TP at the same time?See my last post.
A mini-game collection NEVER deserves an AAA ever. No matter how good it is, it's not a real game.Fireball2500Hey yeah man. Like those racing games? Mario Kart? Burnout? GT? Pfft, those races only last like two-minutes! It's just a compilation of the same thing over and over again. They don't deserve AAA no matter how good they are.
A mini-game collection NEVER deserves an AAA ever. No matter how good it is, it's not a real game.Fireball2500Games are graded based on the standards already set by other games of the same genre. If a mini-game compilation is better than all others, then it deserves a score that reflects that. You forget that the people who rate these games don't care about one system's "AAA" count in comparison to another's,

What if all the games of the genre are only halfway decent? Just because it's better than those decent games means it should get a really high score? No, it should be compared with the quality of games from other genres, too IMO.
