Very interesting. When I played Ryse at an Expo in September I thought it was really good. It looked good, and once I got to grips with the gameplay it was fun. However, I only got about 20mins with the game.
Reading this gamespot review it seems there are legitimate shortfalls in the games design. One weapon? Limited enemy types and movesets? Hmm, they should have taken a page out of Dark Souls' design manual IMO. Obviously in a 20min session - I had no idea the rest of the game would be so lacking in depth.
But it is what it is, I'd still be interested in playing Ryse but a score like this doesn't help the Xbox One's marketability, and Ryse was probably intended to be a key ingredient of XB1's marketability.
Conclusion: Ryse was a failure.
