The original plan was to make it FTP while making GT7, but then they signed the FIA deal for GT7. Then they changed the deal cause FIA couldn't wait for GT7 so they made GTS. Not sure if GT7 will have the FIA contract.

Surprised it sold that much. I won't buy it because it lacks a real career mode. As great as the rest of Sony's studios are doing this gen they really did f*ck up GT though.

That's bad. GT honestly needs a new developer. The series sol 10 million + plus even in the ps3 era, these sports sales are awful..

In my opionion and F2P GT game would make an insane amount of money.

And I'm guessing most are from the UK/Europe where they buy anything with the Polyphony name on it.

@NathanDrakeSwag: it's had a dedicated career mode for several months now, 69 added cars and 9 added tracks. Came from various free updates with another free update coming the end of july with 2 free tracks and 14 more cars...and some other stuff.

Racing sim has gone stagnant, with Asserto Corsa and Pcars and some PC exclusive ones. No one is making 10 million sales anymore.

I mean just look at Forza 7. it flopped in sales and MS is boasting about Horizon 3.

Now this is the type of game were you definitely make your relative, family or whatever use or create new psn account. You don't want them messing up your profile. Got 3 accounts on my ps4.

Yeah but Forza has never been big. GT has always sold 10+ million plus. Even during the ps3 era. IT has a lot to do with quality, people just don't trust in GT.

I don't believe Sony should scrap Polyphony and replace them, Polyphony know how to make a good racing game. Gran Turismo Sport isn't one of them. Kazunori Yamauchi himself admits that the entry barrier for sim racing games is higher now due to the new generation not knowing their clutch from their brakes.

After playing Project Cars 2. I am done with Forza Motorsport. Project Cars and if we get new updates or future stuff from Assetto Corsa are so much better for sim real racing, Forza is great for collecting cars. But the real life stuff Project Cars and Assetto Corsa do it so much better. I'll just stick to Forza Horizon series.

All those idiots in this thread talking how it failed to get to 10 million are forgetting the other GT games took years to get to 10 million. GT games are always slow burners.

5 million for a GT game in less than a year is very good.

I always laugh at GT haters because Gran Turismo consistently sells 6-10 Million copies on average per game.

While Forza is lucky to get 1.5 Million per game. The others do even worse.

Then they have the balls to claim GT is not relevant despite GT selling 3-8 times more copies than any other sim driving game...

You do realize that last part makes literaly no sense, right? Polyphony only did GT series outside of Tourist Trophy (wich did not sold well). GT sells, not Polyphony. I can swear most GT players dont give a rats a** about Polyphony just like CoD players dont care about who made CoD in what year...

I am a GT fan, but I am still surprised this franchise is still strong when there is games like Forza.

I dont like how the game has advertments for TAG and such.

The behind the wheel camera is done so well in GT Sport who cares if it was lacking content. And it wasn't really lacking content, imo, since you got like 27 tracks and 150 cars from the launch of the game, along with a couple or several modes. Just no career mode which is in there now. I bought it at full price and I have no regrets, except a year later and it is $29.99--But I don't buy a lot at launch and I don't mind supporting Sony or their exclusive developers.

I was happy with what GT Sport offered at launch and wasn't expecting any updates which they gave.
