GT Sport just lost the "racing games war" by default

I'm not much into racing games myself. I think its one of those genres that hasnt evolved much throughout the years but I always had a soft spot for GT because it was the first racing game that got me hooked and that was done by the addictive career mode. GT series was dying for me but hearing all the cars available on GT Sport were being built up from the ground up for the PS4 made me somewhat interested again.

well, I dont know if you guys knew but I just found out GT Sport wont have a traditional career mode like the other GTs but only a few driving missions ala "Driving School" mode. What a load of bs. What da hell was Polyphony thinking?! A GT without a career mode is unexcusable!

So yeah lems, Forza 7 will definitely be the better racing game. So, enjoy!

Thats somrething moronic to say. Just because previous installments have been considered better does not automatically mean the new one will be better. Take FIFA games for ex, they've been considered better than PES for a couple of years now. This year, however, from what I hear from Football games fans, PES is the better game.

Let alone the fact Turn 10 already shurn out 3 main Forza games this gen already, While PP will be releasing the 1st, so no wonder Forza has been "mopping the floor" (hyperbole much?) with GT. They already have the engine running for Forza, all they have to do is improve on it. GT Sport has a new engine built from the ground up. The main argument here is that Turn10 is probably better managed than Polyphony and that I wont even argue about. Polyphony has been terribly managed for quite some time now

If it had the only interesting thing about GT, its career mode, yes I would. As it stands now the game has literaly 0% of my attention, so 7-10 years would be better than 1 year of development for nothing that interests me

If I had been interested in the series no campaign would have killed any interest I had in the game too as I'm primarily a single player gamer.

GT Sport is full priced demo

Forza surpassed Gran Turismo from the time it made its debut. In a side-by-side, release-by release comparison, no GT version released next to a Forza game in the same time frame has ever outscored it.

It's not really mismanagement, it's more an issue of manpower. PD does everything in-house with a couple hundred people, whereas there are multiple internal studios and multiple contracted companies working on the Forza franchise.

Though the loss of a traditional campaign is a bit disappointing, there are lots of challenges available, with rewards, and you can still race off-line with ai, if you want. We haven't even seen what the racing etiquette portion is. Another thing worth pointing out, is there will be no microtransactions.

If it helps you calm down, GT7 is still on the table.

Pretty sure Fifa is simply more popular. PES has outscored it more often than not over the past 10 years.

I'm not into racing games but I believe GT hasn't outscored Forza once since the first Forza. If it did, it didn't happen frequently wheres Forza received significantly more praise. GT hasn't been considered the best console racer for over a decade now so I don't think a lot of people were expecting it to be better than Forza or outscore it. The PES vs Fifa isn't a good comparison.

I would say that that is unfortunate but I haven’t been all that interested in the Gran Turismo franchise ever since the first Forza game came out. While unfortunate for those interested in the game for me it’s just another reason to pass on a game for a franchise to which I have long lost interest in.

Yes, Forza has the scores, but that's not the whole story. Particularly in regards to simulations, quality of simulation does not always equal quality as a game and it's as a game that these are rated. This is why one of the most heralded racing sims, iRacing, is sitting at a Metacritic of 79 with a mere 4 reviews. Time after time, more people choose GT over Forza for a reason and even this gen, with PC in the mix, Forza has yet to put up GT numbers.

When Polyphony started catering GT to career drivers and prospective racers, I think it set itself apart from Forza in terms of how much of a video game it actually is. This started to happen with GT 5, where they actually recruited some of the drivers for the Nurburgring 24hr races from online events on GT and GT Academy. Forza on the other hand, offers more as a video game.

This seems to keep the appeal of GT to a lot of gamers - especially across Europe.

GT Sport is a PSVR tech demo. Compared to Forza 7 its way behind.

This game should have come out last year under proper reduced price and marketed as an online focused game. PD failed to deliver and there making it worse by putting career mode name on a bunch of training missions. Sony does love launch controversies its GT's time to take a hit. The shame is the driving may end up being top in class.

Anyway, no surprises here. GT is a shadow of its former self. Like said above, it sounds pretty much like a demo. Hopefully GT7 will be better, whenever that comes out (probably PS5).

No buy from me unless they add it and even then its a proceed with caution. What once was the king is now Blackadder third. He knows who the king is well and it isnt him.

During earlier interviews, it was considered GT7, but it's been confirmed it's a separate title from GT7.

Gran Turismo Sport is considered an e-sports title, which is taking the series in a complete different direction. That's why there's no career mode present.

GT has always been brilliant at showcasing cars. Looks gorgeous and the tracks has some great view distances. Dunno bout Forza 7, I tried the demo on PC and can't get past the intro, pressing A or Enter doesn't do anything. You can't even link a shortcut into Steam and the only app that does it still won't run the game.

Either way, NFS 2016 is more fun that sim racers and The Crew 2 looks as fun as Sonic Racing Transformed. Can't wait for it to come out.

GT has been a few laps back of Forza since Forza 2.

Wheras us racers have a hose running into our helmets for drinking so we can keep both our hands free for gameplay lol.

You do realize you have more button input on U4 (common example on SW of an "interactive movie game", wich I dont agree with) than any normal mode racing game, dont you? In U4 you use pretty much every button available on a controler. In a racing game you only need the accelerator button, the brake button and the steering. Sometimes the handbrake button aswell, but really not many even use that one.

So yeah, you have more input in an "interactive movie game" than in any racer in its normal setting unless you play the game with the manual gears option (but really, only a very tiny percentage of players use it).
