@lrdfancypants: nah, you need one hand free to grab the popcorn & drink while watching those interactive movie games.

You do realize you have more button input on U4 (common example on SW of an "interactive movie game", wich I dont agree with) than any normal mode racing game, dont you? In U4 you use pretty much every button available on a controler. In a racing game you only need the accelerator button, the brake button and the steering. Sometimes the handbrake button aswell, but really not many even use that one.

So yeah, you have more input in an "interactive movie game" than in any racer in its normal setting unless you play the game with the manual gears option (but really, only a very tiny percentage of players use it).

Seems I hit a nerve when me and fancy were just having our usual joke.

But let's have a little fun anyway shall we, how many button presses do you need in the cut scenes that take over 4hrs to watch in UC4?

Also how can you prove that only a "very tiny" percentage of people use manual gearing in racing games?

Thanks for telling me a racing game fan that I only use 3 buttons lol.

Can't we all just get along and press triangle to enact an hour long cut scene of uncomfortable hugging between us?

LOL Forza fanboys.

Fun Fact: GT Sport will sell more copies than Forza 5, 6 and 7 Sales combined!

You can keep spouting your nonsense all you want claiming Forza is king the last 10 years, but the FACT is Gran Turismo is STILL KING. Sales Matter.

You mean the game without much of a career mode, online requirement for most of it, fraction of the number of cars and tracks, and sold at full price? Oh well, at least a lot of people are going to buy it, that will make it good somehow.

GT was revolutionary on PS1 and still great on PS2, but the series lost to Forza long ago. Recently to Project Cars too.

Forza would have been better regardless. It’s been mopping the floor with GT in terms of quality for over a decade.

Thats somrething moronic to say. Just because previous installments have been considered better does not automatically mean the new one will be better. Take FIFA games for ex, they've been considered better than PES for a couple of years now. This year, however, from what I hear from Football games fans, PES is the better game.

Let alone the fact Turn 10 already shurn out 3 main Forza games this gen already, While PP will be releasing the 1st, so no wonder Forza has been "mopping the floor" (hyperbole much?) with GT. They already have the engine running for Forza, all they have to do is improve on it. GT Sport has a new engine built from the ground up. The main argument here is that Turn10 is probably better managed than Polyphony and that I wont even argue about. Polyphony has been terribly managed for quite some time now

I'd say your "moronic," claim is quite moronic.

As an old man whose favorite genre is racing games (sim style preferable, though arcades can be fun), Forza has indeed smashed GT since the first release. In terms of racing mechanics, and "feel." Which is what matters in these games...how an M2 "feels" so different from a Camero, etc.

Anyways...I had the other guys back. Forza has indeed dominated in terms of gameplay since release. Just wanted to let you know, because it seems you haven't played Forza, and you are really missing out if you like realistic racing games.

As someone who has extensively played both series, you couldn't be more wrong. Forza has never caught up to GT's driving model and "feel". Tasking off all the assists brings a dramatic change to the "feel" of GT, less so with Forza that remains a bit stickier than reality. The visual representation of the car handling is also lacking, with not nearly enough suspension movement, particularly with older muscle cars that look like they're floating around corners from the cockpit view (in which, the back half of the cars just disappear if you look backwards). Forza may have been the better package as a game, but it never surpassed GT's driving model.

It was never even in the race. Project Cars 2 will be the best in the long run with mods and updates since the driving is best in class.

Played the Forza 7 demo and it was a great Forza game that felt exactly like a Forza game but with improvements to weather etc. The thing I don't like about Forza at the moment is all the extra fluff they have added over the past few iterations such as mods and loot boxes. I buy sim (console simcade for those that will no doubt chime in about what makes a sim) racers to race cars in a realistic manner. This is why I loved Dirt Rally over all the previous Dirt games with all their stupid events. I just want to race rally cars on a rally stage...

Anyway so for the first time I have not picked up a Forza game day 1 since Forza 2 on 360 because I feel its lost the pureness of racing that made the series great. Yes I know at its core it is still a great racer, I just don't want to be bombarded by all the fluff.

So instead I have preordered GT Sport Deluxe Edition via PSN. I don't currently think it'll definitely be a better rated game than Forza 7 as content wise it is lacking, but I do feel it is pushing more towards the type of racing I want. Pure motorsport and a celebration of cars plus not just a cut and paste of the last game with added fluff.

That's being incredibly optimistic... GT Sport looks like a glorified demo from what I've seen. It doesn't even have a proper SP mode.

But hey, each to their own.

I am afraid GT sport will be like GT Prologue and Forza 7 is money hungry. Has really made me dislike it a bit. This is my first Forza game as I really liked GT franchise better due to career mode, and I wish Forza's race for the cup (or whatever it was called) was similar to GT Career mode.

@hrt_rulz01: yeah and if it doesn’t work out I’ll just pick up PC2 or Forza 7. Right now GTS interests me more due to the risk they are taking by going a different direction.

I’m a long term fan of both Forza and GT so want both to succeed but just feel F7 is playing it way too safe.

@Diddies: Luckily the only AAA I'm looking forward to is Wolfenstein II.

And it seems to be excempt from what plagues the AAA industry: It's a singleplayer focussed game with no microtransactions.

GT Sport is like an online eSport thing. I totally pass on it since online and racing are 2 things that dont mix with me. But this thread about losing the racing wars... whatever that is.. makes no sense. Maybe i get GT7 since i enjoyed the past games.

Yup, it's a pinnacle of (non) gaming.

On topic, it's a racer so I don't care. It's been a long time since I have grown tired of the racing games.

First couple of hours are slow, yes. The game only opens around the 10th chapter when you arrive at Madagascar.

Yes, because repeating events starting from a sluggish feeling used car over and over in the 'great' Gran Turismo 1-4 games was fun right?

The career mode even had RNG car rolls that you needed to get to the next quality event, else grind for more credit to buy an appropriate car. Most events just had such a poorly curated grid with only one other car that was competitive or the entry requirements were so loose and merely used a kW/hp metric, rather than anything to do with downforce or the quality of your parts. I mean, It's all progression nonsense: a collect em all car game. I'd rather have quality racing.

There's endurance events that were decent, but the layer of attrition that ties into race strategy and the curated competition was a joke. The career only ever got good when you got to the Japanese Super GT content because it had a nice balanced car roster to choose from that suit your driving style from drivetrain, let alone torque preferences and the racing was nice and balanced, it helped that specs were fairly locked down also. That stuff is great, always felt like the game led up to that event and it's clear Polyphony has a passion for their own national motorsport stuff.

The quality of the racing on the straight up 'Arcade' modes where classes and performance was locked down was just better even if it had less content going on. So I have no beef with the lack of a Career mode.

I'm actually keen on GT Sport. i think it's the trim down and focus that GT needs. It's just that it's abandoning its casual audience that wants to race in their dream car.

Just wonder how fun it is racing a bunch of amateur racing drivers in GT Sport will be across different skill levels. Simcade racing games are already disabling first corner collisions because of how chaotic it can be. Because we're obviously not in physical danger or professional racing drivers under scrutiny or anything.

I have to say I am excited with the competitive jump they are making. The system they are using is almost identical to IRacing. Once you get out of the beginner leagues this game is going to be a blast.

GT Sport lost it by becoming e-sport nonsense. No serious racing fan wants to buy a game that has been developed solely for e-sports.

Project Cars 2 is the current king of single player racing sims. Fact. As for forza, well, that's just outdated nonsense, aint it.

The first 4h dont even represent 1/3 of the game... but you havent played the game so what do you know... damn, all those 10/10s and GOTY awards surely caused some major butthurt, even to this day :P

So, you sai the game opens up at around chapter 10. How many chapters does it have?

Total of 22 chapters. But thats irrelevant. Some chapters take longer than others. You can have a 10 min chapter and a 2h chapter. Later in the game, when its maps open up, You can spend a lot of time exploring the maps depending on your sense of exploration.

And I have heard people calling it a walking simulator in the later chapters as well. And 20 hours long? I don't know what to call you if you have to spend 20 hours on a title like UC4.

What you "hear" is mostly the drivel of forum dwellers who may have their own opinion or just stupid fanboys who havent even played the game but, somehow, think they can talk about it (basicaly people like YOU). If you have not played the game you have literaly ZERO reasons to talk about it. Form an opinion of your own and stop listening to what random people on the internet say. I'm sure you also hear many people praising U4 and yet those you dont mention... why? Because their own opinions dont fit your agenda.

10/10 and GOTY are meaningless when you have above video objectively showing it's a non-game.

The video above does not even represent a third of the game and yet you reveer it as the final saying. Its ONE youtube video. Where are the dozens of others that praise the game? Oh, right, those dont count because they wouldnt fit your stupid argument. If only one yt video is what it takes for you to form an opinion on a game then you're just a waste of a brain.

And all of that besides the point that we have Danny O'Dwyer saying how GS likes to write click-bait articles and in general wants to follow the hype, nothing to do with the actual quality of the game.

GS wasnt the only site giving it a perfect score. Your point is void. Personaly I dont even think its a 10/10 game (I gave it a 9) but I can understand those who thought it was a 10. The scores sure caused some major butthurt here XD

Secondly, the Creative Director of the title and the studio is on record saying that their primary target for TLOU/UC4 is to tell a story and not gameplay.

Link? I googled and couldnt find anything about a ND employee saying story would come before gameplay, so I'm gonna guess your straight out lying. Also, having a story does not automatically mean bad gameplay. Both TLoU and U4 have proper gameplay mechanics. If they hadnt it wouldnt receive near perfect scores all over the board.

Now, if that's not enough Sony - the company you all worships marketed its prequel as a movie, take that.

What dafuq are you even talkin about? Are you pulling cr*p out of your a**? Cause it sure seems like it...

And the most important of them all is when an industry legend Warren Spector - the person that created entire genres, calls it a non-game.

Lol, "industry legend". You mean the guy who made Epic Mickey? That 73/100 score on meta? He made System Shock and Deus Ex (that are within the same genre) so what other "genres" are you talkin about? He's been pretty irrelevant for quite some time now but off course hermits would still reveer it as some sort of "god".

This far outweighs what any 20 year old that started gaming in the 7th generation has to write for a click-bait review.

No, it actually doesnt

Even if that's not enough, the community manager actually agreed with Warren Spector by saying that there are places for all kinds of titles.

Community manager of what? Why is he important?

So your excuses of 10/10 and GOTY just doesn't fly here, and to make things worse quite a sizeable portion of the reviews are from Sony's own publications which we have witnessed also like to low-scores Third Party titles like Witcher 3.

Wrong. Most sites who gave it great scores have anything to do with Sony. See here

Cheers. :D

Answers in bold. Cheers ^^^

edit: And btw, I wont fuel this stupid argument any further. Think what you like. Those 9/10s and 10/10s wont go away, as much as you want them to. Peace :P

Use to love the franchise but the more I learn about GT sport the more I'm inclined to skip it. It sounds like R6 Siege in that it's primarily a MP game with tutorials as the sole SP content. No fvcking thanks.

For some reason, GTS looks way more appealing in action than F7

Inb4 you need to remove your cows glasses

Uncharted 4 suffers from very uneven pacing. The first quarter of the game is heavy in cutscenes and dialogue because it tries to expose the story to the viewer. The second quarter is filled with endless climbing nonsense. The third quarter is solving puzzles and again, lots of climbing. The final part is heavy in gunfights and probably has more action than the rest of the 3 quarters put together. All in all a very badly paced game. Still good fun though. People calling it a non-game aren't entirely wrong because you spend a long ass time not really gaming and the platforming mechanics are certainly lacking which sucks because it is very prevalent. It's a decent game but cutting the climbing/cutscenes and add better spaced gunfights would have made it far more enjoyable.

Well, I do find impressive how one can write so much and yet say so little. I mean, look at his most recent example right above ^^^. The funny thing is that he actually believes someone will bother reading all his worthless crap

I do have to question GT Sport. It may be full priced IDK, have DLC and has a limited single player. But my real gripe is the reliance on online, mainly because Sony is notorious for switching off servers. And don't tell me it's because of the lack of interest in certain games, because they switched off the popular GT 5 servers just so they could make people buy GT 6.

Sounds like another Street Fighter V debacle.

Nah, Sony's "for the players"...

LOL.
