GT5' A Year Away, $100 For "Full" Game?

This isn't intended to be "flame bait" or just another GTP5 thread, but after reading this article, it kinda makes since. The reason why I think it makes a lil bit of since is because these game companies only have a couple of weeks to test drive these games. You are not going to find all of the bug and what not in 3-6 weeks. The public will tell you what they like or dislike about the game.

If the is the "new trend", then I like that the game companies should give us a different game. Example: With a race game, you really can't do anything but add stuff to the game, but every other game is different. Now an action game is a different story. if they are going to "Prologue" an action, then I feel as they should give us a different story within the game......if that makes since or if you guys feel where I'm going from.

This is not much different then all those gamers who buy Madden or Rainbow Six every year. When the next one comes out its not much different the the one you had a year ago. GT has had prologue's for a while and nobody complained before. Nobody is making you buy the game, its just a great fanservice to their fanbase so they have a GT game to play at a discounted price until the big one come out.

+1. I bought R6V2 and took it back the same day. Even some of the enemies use THE EXACT SAME PHRASES as in the first one. People are quite happy to pay full price for what is essentially the same game, but when it comes to Sony releasing GT5: P, there's an outcry. I never heard complaining when the other prologues were released.

I didnt know you were forced to pay it.

I think that you should get a discount off of the full game.When it's released.It sucks that with the amount of loyalty the GT fans have toward the series, getting milked into paying for the same content twice is their only reward.

And to the people who are saying "They always did that, there have been other Prologues"

Just because someone is successfully ripping you off doesn't make it right.the idea of the Prologue is a fantastic one, but the execution is a bit flawed.The cars and tracks that come as the content of Prologue should not be part of GT5. That would make it a better value.

it is ok to charge for on-line 50 bucks a year then pay around 6 bucks for ever halo3 or any on-line games for a map. that adds up after 4 to 5 new maps.

Comparing XBL fees to GT5: Prologue kind of exposes how hypocritical people are being about this.

I thought lemmings were all about CHOICE. If your not a huge racing fan but still want to play it $40 is a great option instead of $60 for the full deal.

There are other games who have done similiar pricing models. HalfLife2 episodes for $39/ea as they released or you waited and bought Orange box for $59.

edit: I agree with this also from another poster: People spend $60 each year on a new version of there favorite sports titles, and all that really changes is the roster (and minor updates).
When the new one comes out, do you call the old ones demo's? Get over it. Buy it or don't.

Using HL2 as an example is a poor one. People were pissed that Valve scrapped the Black Box, which was all the new content Minus the previously released content. On the consoles The Orange box was a fantastic deal because none of the content was available on the 360 or the PS3..As for the PC content all of the Orange Box's new content is available separately from Steam..

Easy, the PS3 had a bad start, gain a lot of bad reputation so they are nitpicking now. They make as if previous Prologues never existed and make such a big deal about this.

The fact is. Prologue has existed since GT2, its nothing new for GT fans, and they have always selled well. In fact, GT4P has more or less 2.5 million units sold.

Actually, Lems get extra content for that extra money. With prologue you're just getting the exact same content. However, you're getting it more than a year early and that makes it worth it for me.

Extra content....lems make it sound like its NECESSARY content and makes it WAY better than the PS3 version so it should count in that regard...secondly, like you said...as a GT fan paying $39.99 to warm up your GT skills for the next 6-12 months before the full retail comes out really isnt a bad thing. Dont buy it if you think its a crock. Polyphony could have simply said GT5 in a year, no prologue...have fun waiting.

Im still waiting for the US release, since if I have to import it from Japan or Europe the taxes are bigger, so if I import it from the US I pay 30 dollars less. At least I downloaded the demo soon enough before they took it down, and Im enjoying 5 races a day :D The inside view with the real interiors is so great, especially to me, cause Im a car sucker. Im one of those guys who puts cars before girls :D I know, weird, but nobody can beat the sexy curves of a Ferrari Dino.

Im seriously hoping that the Ferrari Dino is included, even if its an event car as the deLorean in GT4, I dont care.

The good thing, is that I will most likely be able to buy a Ford GT from the get go, or maybe my fav car, an Audi TT and since they included the new one, its even cooler :D No more 10 minutes 90km/h races at the beginning :D

How much is GT5 going to be? How much content is there in relation to the final product? If GTP5 contains say...half the content of the final game but only a bit cheaper than that would be expensive.

Then again it seems it has more content that most games that are fully priced. It's a tricky one. For sure, sony should release a prologue. But should they charge so much for it? Atm GT5P is the big PS3 game not just a preview.

er... the FULL Gears of War game only had a few MP levels to begin with, so i seriously doubt that

A year from now, or whenevea GT5 comes out, no one will even care about the $40. Most of the guys on here are just nitpicking. I would rather pay $40 for a game vs $60 any day. How many people bought 2 and 3 360's instead of sending the 1st or 2nd one back? How many people wasted money of XBLA game, when they already had the game?....Castlevania. How many people have a Wii and download from the VC?

The point that i'm trying to make is that, most people complain about buying a game twice, when everyone does it.

And by that logic you should have not bought GeoW but wait for GeoW2 which will be much better. All I know is that I am enjoying GT5P and if that is bad...well, I'm bad.

I don't pay $40 on a Madden demo.
