That's their technology that takes the GPS data from your vehicle and recreates it on the game.

These prove nothing. It's not hard toscript the car take the same line and speed as a real vid.

This is just marketing. Says NOTHING about the physics.

Once again, the point has been missed. It is the new technology they have for the game. If you have a high end gps device, like the ones found in the FT-86, you can race around a real life track, then import that GPS data into GT5 in where it will recreate the lap time and racing line that you took so you can practice the course.

Kinda Like Movie Gear Solid scoring a 10, Flopzone scoring a 9 right? I'm still skeptical about the GT5's future score, but we will see. :P

You know, the more features they show, and the more trailers they release = the madder i get that its not out. Seriously, this is just a waste of time, money, resources. Im sure the game will be amazing, but id much rather not have all that extra crap if it keeps adding months to the dev time. I WANNA PLAY THE GAME PD!

Not if they let you download laps of real drivers on the tracks to race against or learn from. This could also be used to watch races with a small delay or whenever and allow you to control your viewpoint and be able to watch battles for position better than you could on a normal broadcast (this, of course, presupposes cooperation from whatever racing league is involved). This could be a cool feature.

While it does look cool, this is not useful to the vast majority of players. All this shows is PD is trying to keep people interested by saying "Don't forget about our game! We have technology!!!!"

I think it just shows how accurate the character animations are, the hands are almost precisely where the drivers are. What makes that even more incredible is that the computer in the car doesn't calculate that, it just calculates the speed, g-force,etc but nothing about driver animations.

Of course like many have stated, and will coninue to, is that this is useless to the majority of GT5 players... upon first glance of course. For all we know pro drivers from all over the world may post there laps for everyone to race against. Seeing as how the Top Gear track is now included you can assume that the next seasons car tests will have this GPS device on board to compare yourself against The Stig.

Wishfull thinking of course.

Gamers are not the only ones who use GT. There are professional racers and Racing enthusiasts who play this simulator. It's why it's taking them so long to finish it. They're not just catering to gamers who'd play it for a bit and got for the next new shooting game.

I'm glad you realize it's a niche market, but I'm not glad that you felt the need to waste a perfectly good post. You don't realize the acceleration in which one can learn their local track (believe it or not, the closer they are they live to a track, the more likely they are to appreciate/participate in racing.) Lots of people go to the Nordschleife daily by dozens of racers. Same for tracks like Laguna Seca and Thunder Hill. All tracks allow public racers to hit the course and practice for small fees, and if someone really wants to become a hot race car driver, they WILL invest in a 200 dollar GPS device.

Oh really? How about recruiting race car drivers? I really like how you just completely ignore everything PD has done up to this point and continue to call things pointless and just simple "entertainment." Why do you think it's taken them so long? 1000 cars? Several licenses? Debuting damage modeling? Robust online features? Why do you think they feature so many cars instead of just the best of the best like forza does? Because not everyone races in a Veyron. GT actually realizes people use this to practice, because it is that good. I have yet to hear of Forza recruiting regular car enthusiasts to become full blown racers. Please enlighten me if I'm incorrect.

The makers of some PC racing sims like netkar pro have partnered with the companies who make real professional racing analys tools, so you can feed back real data into them and recreate it with visual engine or just take game data and analyze it like it was real life data and telemetry

They go even futher than that. Iopener has a system that uses gps tech to let gamers race against the people driving on real tracks in real time

i think people have maybe failed to see 1 major point is that this data could potentially be uploaded to a website like gtplanet for use by your averagejoe you might even see Top hear using it in their power laps or their star in a reasonably priced car uploaded to a Polyphony Database.

Theres more potential for this system than one might think.

Oh really? How about recruiting race car drivers? I really like how you just completely ignore everything PD has done up to this point and continue to call things pointless and just simple "entertainment." zero_snake99
Och come on, if real drivers want to train there are far better and more accurate tools for that than GT series

PD need to get a bunch of pro racers like the stig to give us laps to try and beat.killzowned24

There should be a Trophy for beating The Stig's time around the Top Gear test track in a Lacetti.

On topic: Pretty sweet tech, although it's something I'll never ever use.

yeah but theres the point of the matter that thePS3 may be much better equiped in a sense said person might rather have the comfort of their couch and a big telly when learning the track it boils down to a matter of personal preference aswell not just the realism.
