http://boards.ign.com/ps3_lobby/b8269/161520640/p1/

"We already knew that Gran Turismo 5: Prologue had topped one million in sales in the UK, but we didn't realize this would make it the fastest-selling PlayStation 3 title to date in the region.

According to Chart-Track, Prologue has debuted at the very top of the software sales list in the UK, topping even Ubisoft's big-time release, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Furthermore, and more importantly, this gigantic GT5 demo became the fastest-selling PS3 game in a single week, and is currently the 19th best-selling title on the system. For other notable games on the list, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock falls one place but remains in the top 5, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare stays in the top 10, and past successful titles stay successful, like Assassins Creed and MotorStorm. You can see the rundown of the top 20 here.

Can we expect a similar sales spike when Prologue releases in the US in two weeks time? We say, more than likely. In the meantime, Euro gamers should be all kinds of happy that they finally got a high-profile game before North America. This time, we're the ones who are waiting...nice to be on the other side for once, right guys?

As a huge 360 fan, u gotta admit this game will probably be the first game where the graphics look picture like.

I'm not a racing fan, not like I've tried, but literally to see the graphics I would get this game.

They'll just be a massive european recession as everyone plays it.

Played it - looks great, plays crap. Well thats not strictly fair. Its plays the same as the last few. Which as a big GT fan is somewhat of a kick in the teeth.

None of the on going GT gameplay issues have been resolved. The cars however are even MORE shiney than before and once again, presentation is second to none.

It seems that they are sticking firmly to thier "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" policy. If it looks good - they will buy it

and we will

He's basically joking that when GT5 is released system wars will be over cause every one will be playing it :P

Then he's saying that maybe there will just be a decrease in the number of Europeans on cause they go crazy for it, including myself :D

knowing them, i would say IF they did put in damage, it would be minimal, so you could still bumper-car your way to the finish.

Can't wait until this game gets to the US. I'm really interested in comparing the Ferrari F1 in GT5 to the F1 Championship on PS3. The best F1 game ever and if your a racing fan I highly recommend it, although it's extremely hard.

http://kotaku.com/gaming/gc07/gran-turismo-5-prologue-to-feature-car-damage-improved-ai-better-physics-293208.php

"Also at the behest of fans is a working damage model, one of unspecified depth. We didn't see Kaz run into anything during our session, so it was hard to tell if the game features the system in place yet. When asked about the new built-from-the-ground-up AI code and the option for car damage, Yamauchi indicated that CPU controlled drivers are aware of the new penalties for playing "bumper cars." With up to sixteen cars on the track, they need to be aware of each and the danger of spinning out when one comes in contact with another."

My biggest beef about car damage is, yeah it's nice to have, but if you can drive the car, then you should never see the car all banged up.

In what way did you feel that anything had changed? Examples??? To me, it felt unchanged, with enhanced graphics.

The racing element is still lacking with opponets being more of "on rails barriers" than actual opponents. Bumper car physics is still the order of the day and the new AI is not noticable.

Anyway, the game is still solid enough, and has enough content to merit the £20 price tag for most race fans, even if I personally think that selling a work in progress and labelling it "prologue" is a bit of a piss take.

Oh look, someone with the same opinion as me.

we'll believe it when we see it.

they've made promises before and backed off of them.

Dreams-Visions

Another one.

I've grown tired of Polyphony refusing to evolve the series, and I see GT5: P as a continuation of their adherence to ye olde vision of the "real driving simulator". It's not a good sign. And Yamauchi can talk about damage all he wants, but until I actually see it implemented in the game his words are of little meaning. That he says we won't be getting the "full GT on release" or whatever doesn't do much for my confidence in them and kind of seems like pre-emptive damage control.

But it'll be a huge sales success. We will buy it. I will buy it. ...damn it. I've ordered GT5: P actually. Imported it, it's 40% less, so that makes me feel a bit less of a hypocrit. It's a lot cheaper in the UK for some reason.

I expect GT 5 Prologue and GT 5 to move units just like the ones on the PS2 did.

Hey its an "unfinished" price for an "unfinished" game as I see it.:P

Great job from Poly and Sony nevertheless. Id take GT now, than a year later. More games the better.

As a huge 360 fan, u gotta admit this game will probably be the first game where the graphics look picture like.

I'm not a racing fan, not like I've tried, but literally to see the graphics I would get this game.

If it continues to use 2D elements in the game it will probably be considered pretty bad technically.

If it looks good - they will buy it

and we will

on pro with all aids off, GT5P by far has the best driving physics .

If people are considering it a demo, hope it's at least worth the price of $40. I'm thinking about getting it but not to sure. Is there any estimated date when GT5 is released?
