A recent vid on GT planet http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=128481&page=391is a debate discussion on whether or not it implies that wheels cannot be changed for the standard cars of GT5. Appearantly some GT5 fans are upset about this on the fan site, and imo are overreacting. My question is this, does the changing of wheels vary the performance aspect of the vehicles in GT5 or is it just a visual type of thing?

WAIT. WHAT!!!??? Wheels have an impact. If it's just the rims then it's just visual and whtv, but if they mean the whole wheel... =O Flop confirmed. OK. I'm over reacting. But that's still pretty bad.

80% of the cars are upscaled gt4 cars and they are worried about the wheels? that's called missing the forest for the trees.

We can't. This combined with 2d trees voids all the other content and makes the game broken.

The game itself may not be a disappointment, but those standard cars sure are. No interiors AND no wheel options? What next, no colour changing and no performance modifying? What exactly was the point of including these things anyways? Because FM3 had 500+ cars?

I wouldn't compare the amount of features in gran turismo to forza. Gran turismo has over 1000 cars and 70 track variations. I think we can forgive them if you consider what other racing games are doing. Dirt 2 has like 40 cars total.

The wheels do vary the performance of the cars. They have lightweight wheels which helps with performance of the car. I feel like the standard cars were just thrown into GT5 more and more now. It's like just so consumers see that the game has such a massive amount of cars in it, but in turn when they play the game, they realize they can hardly do anything with the standard cars.

I am beggining to wonder what else you CAN'T do to the standard model cars...

Tweaks/upgrades like those have been part of the game since Gran Turismo 1 on the PS1.

What's a changable wheel? Is it the feature on Forza where you can buy different tires/rims for your cars and change the width or whatever? :?

Yes and some wheels add or subtract weight which in turn affects handling.

This is a big deal for big racing fans. Standard cars already don't have interior views, and they look pretty much like the cars from GT4. If they don't have changable wheels, who knows what else standard cars don't have?? Theres 800 standard cars and 200 premium ones, to be honest I wish there wouldn't even be standard cars because you can't do much with them and they don't look good at all.

Changing the tires has a massive effect on the cars handling. If you are talking about wheels and not tires, then it makes less of a difference.

I'm actually being honest here....i would rather 400 Perfect cars (lower the quality slightly to just above forza 3 level) then have 800 bad cars with no interior view and very few customisation options.

I would take 500+ cards and customizable everything over 1000+ cars and no custom wheels. Sorry but 1000+ cars with 25 flavors of civic doesn't impress me at all. This is "simulation" and I can't even customize the wheels? You friggin kidding me? How long have they been developing this game now? I should be able to customize my mirrors and interior for how long they've been making this game.

This is pathetic for GT5. Isn't this supposed to be the flagship sim game for PS3. Why are only 20% of the cars premium. Feels like this game is unfinished.

FM3 had around 400 cars.

And we already know you can change tires in GT5. You could change rims on all cars in GT4 so I am presuming you can on GT5 too. I think it might just be rim sizes you cannot change with standard cars.

Then lets wait until 2012 then lol. I mean lets be realistic, they did the best they could with the time they had. I mean, there are still 200 cars that have all of these features.

Wheels are somewhat important, wheels can affect weight of a car, their not just cosmetic. But its not that big of a deal imo, tyres are the most important part of a simulation.

Well, thetires should have an option to change and upgrade them along with visual rims. Tires should definitely have some kind of effect. GT5 is a car simulator, is it not? If they didn't include that, I would be a bit disappointed myself. Part of the fun is modifying and upgrading your cars. Otherwise, everyone will be racing the same cars online with no modification.

Considering how most of us will be driving "Premium" cars, I don't think this is a big deal. I don't think I ever bothered changing wheels on my GT cars in the past anyway.

You're confusing Interior view with Cockpit view... All cars have interior view, but only premiums have interior view replaced with cockpit view which is the high resolution highly detailed one which also covers floor, doors and back seats, standard cars get a basic dashboard view probably gearstick and pedals but not much more.

First, FM3 only has 400 cars that are no where near the premium cars in GT5. Also, consider the fact that GT5 has 3x (or more) content than FM3 with much more polish

Maybe its like all of the other GT games. There were some cars you couldnt swap wheels on... The tank car, I believe that car shown in the picture, old model t, old mercedes, etc.

WOW thats a relief. I'm no longer worried about GT5
